Chapter 2316: Chapter 1156: Fated Reunion
Time rewinds to before Dorothy arrived at Holy Acate Academy.
As the Hover Car slowly flew into the city, the homebody witch’s gaze also passed through the car window, overlooking this futuristic city that was far cooler and more real than any sci-fi movie she’d seen in her previous life.
Rows upon rows of high-rises were like sharp swords thrusting straight from underground into the clouds, gorgeous neon lights decorating these buildings, and within the multicolored holographic Phantoms flickered all kinds of temptation-inducing goods.
Down on the streets, people came and went, traffic flowed like... toilets, except there were streets above the streets too—air lanes planned out for flying vehicles. All kinds of Hover Cars, flying boards, drones and other Mechanical devices were busy yet followed some kind of order as they moved along these routes.
Only, Dorothy noticed that most of the pedestrians below weren’t real people; most of them, just like the Guard Lady at the city gate earlier, were Intelligent Mechanism Bionic People. So although the streets looked crowded and lively, in the homebody witch’s perception this city felt a bit desolate. After all, in that Soul vision, while the streets weren’t exactly empty, they could definitely be described as deserted.
Amidst this bustling crowd she only sensed a few traces of Soul aura, but looking more closely she realized those didn’t really count as "normal people" either. After all, whether someone whose Mechanical Prosthetics and Cybernetic Modification covered more than fifty percent of their body still qualified as an ordinary person... that probably deserved a question mark.
However, such large-scale Cybernetic Modification seemed quite common in this world, or maybe even pretty popular, because Dorothy found that those highly integrated cyborgs appeared to hold rather high status; the Intelligent Mechanism Bionic People turned very respectful the moment they saw them.
But what surprised Dorothy most about this city was actually the fact that it had real soil and plants.
Mm, earlier she’d traveled so far outside the city, and everything she saw was the Land of Steel and Mechanical flora and fauna, so she’d thought maybe this world was something like Transformers’ Cybertron World—basically no soil or carbon-based lifeforms she was familiar with at all.
Now it seemed that wasn’t the case. The Mechanical Wilderness still had a side that matched the "normal" world in Dorothy’s mind; it was just that these "normal" elements seemed to be preserved only inside cities, a wonder you wouldn’t see outside the walls.
Oh, and wasn’t the biodiversity of this world just a bit too over-the-top?
"Elves, Dwarfs, Angels, Demons... these bionic skins really come in a lot of varieties. Are these merely appearance skins, or do all these Races actually exist in this world?"
Dorothy rubbed her chin, not entirely sure.
Luckily she quickly tossed these questions to the back of her mind, because she suddenly sensed a large number of Soul auras, and scenes this "lively" didn’t seem very common in this Intelligent Mechanic Desolation.
"Holy Acate Academy has been reached. Dear passenger, please take your luggage and mind your step when getting off."
After the Hover Car came to a smooth stop, a gentle female voice came from the speakers inside, reminding her, and then the gull-wing doors opened.
Dorothy stood up and got out of the car, and the sight that entered her eyes finally felt a bit familiar.
This really was the school gate, and it should be just about start-of-class time; lots of students in neat uniforms were passing through the gate, heading into the campus.
And the homebody witch’s earlier doubts were answered on the spot.
The Races of this world truly were rich and varied, because these students came in all sorts of shapes and sizes—Elves, Dwarfs, Dwarfs, Centaurs, and even Goblins and many other types.
Normally, with so many different Races mixed together, heads should’ve been bashed open long ago; quite a few of these Races were blood enemies—for example Elves and Dwarfs, Elves and Goblins, Elves and Minotaurs, Elves and Slimes, and so on.
Ahem, don’t ask why Elves have so many enemies. Just blame it on arrogance and high looks.
Anyway, getting so many Races to live peacefully together would basically be impossible under normal circumstances, yet this scene that should only appear in dreams was unfolding right in front of Dorothy’s eyes. ℴ
Obviously everyone’s Race was different, yet the students were hanging out in groups of three or five, chatting and laughing on their way to school, a scene that didn’t differ much from the academy life in Dorothy’s memories.
There were no Racial differences here; everyone shared only one common and equal identity—classmates at the same school.
"Wow, now this really is Heaven."
Dorothy sighed with emotion. In her vision for her future Territory of All Nations, she’d imagined such a beautiful scene, but she hadn’t expected the peaceful world she’d dreamed of to actually exist here and now.
For a moment, the homebody witch was genuinely moved.
Only her emotions were quickly disrupted by a bunch of curious gazes; she realized the students were all staring in curiosity at her and the Hover Car that had brought her here.
"Er, why would a police car come to school? Did somebody commit a crime?"
"Wow, such a pretty big sister, but why’s she getting out of a police car?"
"Damn, getting dropped off by a police car, that’s kinda badass—but aren’t police cars banned from private use?"
"Eh? Could this be that so-called privilege from the old Empire era? But that’s impossible, right? Under system monitoring, where would privilege come from?"
