Chapter 57

Orion’s eyes slowly snapped open.

For a moment, all he could see was the white light hanging above him. It was slightly blinding at first, forcing him to narrow his eyes as he stared upward, but after a while, his vision gradually adapted, allowing him to see clearly once more.

His gaze locked onto the white ceiling above him, and a slight frown appeared on his face.

Where was he?

What had happened?

Orion remained still for a few moments, trying to make sense of his surroundings. Then, slowly, he raised his upper body and sat up on the bed, turning his head to look around.

There were several beds arranged inside the large, white room. The faint scent of medicine lingered in the air, accompanied by the clean, sterile smell that seemed to cling to every corner of the place.

He didn’t need much time to figure it out.

He was in a hospital.

But why?

What had happened to him, and how had he ended up in a hospital in the first place?

Orion couldn’t truly remember.

The last thing he could recall was entering Dungeon X alongside many other warriors. He remembered going into the dungeon, but everything beyond that point seemed strangely unclear.

It was as though an important part of his memories had been erased, leaving behind nothing but a vague sense of something he couldn’t quite grasp.

Orion’s head suddenly began to ache.

"Ah..."

He instinctively raised a hand to his forehead as two words flashed across his mind.

White Palace.

The moment those words appeared, Orion’s expression changed slightly.

White Palace?

What was that?

Why did those words sound so familiar?

He held his head, trying desperately to remember what had happened, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t retrieve anything meaningful.

He reached for those elusive memories again and again, hoping that if he concentrated hard enough, something would finally come back to him.

But they continued to elude him.

It was as though something was deliberately preventing him from remembering what had happened.

After a while, Orion finally sighed and stopped trying.

There was no point in forcing himself to remember something that refused to come back. If the memories were still somewhere inside his mind, perhaps they would return eventually.

For now, he could only leave the matter alone.

His gaze shifted toward the table beside his bed.

Something was resting on it.

A locket.

It had a simple yet intricate design, its appearance carrying a subtle elegance that made it stand out despite its relatively unassuming size.

The moment Orion’s eyes landed on it, the words escaped his mouth before he could even think about them.

"That’s Dwaine’s locket."

He blurted it out without hesitation.

For a moment, Orion simply stared at the object.

Then he blinked.

Wait...

How did he know that?

He was certain that the locket belonged to Dwaine. Not only that, but he was even certain that Dwaine had entrusted him with the responsibility of giving it to his grandson.

The certainty was so strong that he didn’t even need to question it.

But how?

Orion remembered Dwaine, of course.

He remembered the man who had helped him level up by erasing the No Level tag that had been attached to him. That much was clear in his mind.

However, the more he thought about it, the stranger everything became.

He could remember Dwaine, yet he felt as though their relationship had been far closer than he could currently recall.

There was an inexplicable sense of familiarity attached to the man, something that went beyond the memories he could consciously access.

And when had Dwaine entrusted him with the locket?

Why couldn’t he remember that moment?

Orion shook his head.

No matter how hard he tried, those memories continued to elude him.

He could remember certain things about Dwaine, but whenever he attempted to reach deeper into those memories, it was as though he had encountered an invisible wall.

He couldn’t get past it.

Eventually, he gave up trying to force himself to remember.

There was no point in exhausting himself over something he couldn’t currently understand.

Instead, his attention shifted to something far more important.

How had he survived Dungeon X?

And where were the other warriors who had entered the dungeon alongside him?

Those questions immediately occupied his mind.

Dungeon X had been a dangerous place from the beginning. It was a mysterious dungeon that had existed for years, and its reputation alone was enough to make even experienced warriors wary.

He had entered it alongside numerous other warriors, yet now he was the only person he could see in the room.

Had the others survived?

Were they in other rooms?

Or had something happened to them?

Orion couldn’t answer any of those questions.

He was still lost in his thoughts when a familiar, yet somehow unfamiliar, chime suddenly rang inside his head.

Ding!

[Welcome, Host...]

Orion blinked.

A system screen had appeared before him.

For a moment, he simply stared at it, processing the messages that had just appeared.

He wasn’t particularly shocked by the fact that his system had suddenly become active. After all, he had been living with a system for quite some time, so receiving system notifications wasn’t exactly a new experience for him.

What surprised him, however, was the appearance of the screen itself.

It was no longer blue.

The familiar blue interface he had grown accustomed to was gone, replaced by a completely white interface.

And the words displayed on it...

They were written in a clear, majestic array of multiple colors, each one shimmering with a strange radiance that made the entire interface look almost unreal.

It was beautiful.

No...

It was downright majestic.

The white background and the multicolored lettering gave the system screen an entirely different feeling from the one he remembered. There was something extraordinary about it, something that made it seem far more mysterious than an ordinary system interface.

For a while, Orion simply stared at the screen.

Why on earth was his system no longer the usual blue system that every awakened warrior used?

Why was it white?

And why were the words written in rainbow colors?

Was this really his system?

He had never seen anything like it before.

The appearance alone was enough to make him wonder whether something had gone wrong during the initialization process.

But then, something else caught his attention.

Wait...

Did he read that correctly?

Had the system really displayed the words Reawakening Completed?

Orion’s expression gradually changed.

He stared at the message again, carefully going over the words in his mind.

Reawakening Completed....

Was it talking about a real reawakening?

As in... an actual reawakening?

His face slowly went blank.

For several moments, he couldn’t even process what he was seeing.

How was that possible?

Reawakening was something that had only ever appeared in myths and fairy tales. It was the kind of phenomenon people spoke about in stories, something that ordinary warriors could only dream of experiencing.

It wasn’t supposed to be real.

At least, that was what he had always believed.

Orion had dreamed of reawakening himself countless times. He had imagined awakening once more and finally getting rid of the trash-grade talent that had held him back for so long.

It was a dream he had carried within himself ever since he realized how much his talent grade limited his path.

No matter how hard he trained, no matter how many skills he acquired or how much effort he put into becoming stronger, there had always been a wall standing before him.

A wall created by his talent grade, his G grade thrash talent.
