Su Mo instinctively covered her eyes. "Y-You, hurry and put your clothes on!"

Yue Ying’s face flushed as he pulled on his clothes. "All set now."

Su Mo lowered her hands, her face still slightly flushed. She looked at Yue Ying and said, "Since you’ve taken human form now, let’s go eat together."

Yue Ying smiled sweetly. "Mhm, okay."

’God, he wanted to rush over and hug her so badly, but he knew he couldn’t. He wasn’t even her boyfriend yet... Back in the Beast World, at least he’d started out as her fiancé.’

The thought alone was heartbreaking.

When Su Mo led Yue Ying over, Xuan Qing and the other two men were perfectly calm.

Little Jiu and Fu Ying, however, looked at the man behind her with a flicker of surprise.

Fu Ying quickly recovered, smiling. "Wow, this fox’s new look is absolutely stunning."

Especially those eyes. Tsk, they’re practically a soul-stealing weapon!

Fu Ying whispered to Little Jiu, "We don’t need to push Su Mo about making up for that celebratory dinner for her and Xuan Qing’s registration anymore. Let’s wait and have her treat us for all of them at once."

Little Jiu nodded. It would be a hassle if Su Mo had to treat them to a meal every single time one of these things happened.

Before they ate, she stealthily took a photo and hit send.

Fu Ying watched her furtive movements and frowned. "Who are you texting?"

"Long Yan, of course."

Fu Ying laughed. "If he were capable of feeling any sense of urgency, he wouldn’t have let Xuan Qing beat him to the punch."

Then her tone shifted. "He might be a bit of a slow-burn, but... his position is still irreplaceable."

...

The newly transformed fox was a bit clingy. He would wait for Su Mo right on time every day, both when she left for work and when she came home.

He took care of nearly every single chore at Su Mo’s clinic, big or small.

The days passed, one by one, and soon summer arrived.

The temperature in South City climbed higher each day, and people’s appetites tended to wane during this season.

But Su Mo’s table was always laden with all sorts of exquisite dishes. Before evening even fell, a message arrived from Fei Yan.

He said that Xuan Qing had something on tonight, so he would be coming to pick her up for dinner downstairs.

Some people just seem to quietly become a part of your life.

...

Inside the clinic, Fu Ying whispered to Yue Ying, "Hey, fox, how long have you been playing the third wheel? Still no progress?"

Yue Ying shot her a displeased glance, then whispered, "There are too many rivals, and they’re all so difficult... C’mon, sis, give me some tips."

"Pfft." Fu Ying couldn’t help but laugh out loud, then she whispered a few words in his ear.

Yue Ying’s eyes lit up as he listened, and he nodded again and again.

From a short distance away, Su Mo glanced at the whispering pair, and her eyelid twitched.

’They can’t be up to any good.’

By the time she walked over to Fu Ying, Yue Ying was already gone.

"What did you tell him this time?"

Fu Ying raised an eyebrow. "What could I tell him? With a brain like that, does he even need my help?"

Just as she was about to say more, Su Mo tilted her head toward the television mounted on the wall.

A familiar license plate number flashed across the screen.

The anchor spoke with a grim expression, "A multi-car pile-up has occurred on the outskirts of South City. The number of casualties is not yet confirmed. Please stay tuned for further reports from our journalists on the scene."

Fu Ying frowned. "Isn’t that Mo Xiao’s car?"

Su Mo instinctively pulled out her phone, but before she could even dial, it rang.

"Hello, is this Miss Su? We need you to come to South City Ring Road..."

Su Mo hung up, grabbed her nearby bag, and headed for the door.

Yue Ying hurried after her. "I’ll go with you."

When she and Yue Ying arrived, the scene was chaotic. Debris from the cars was scattered everywhere, along with splatters of blood—a horrifying sight.

She frantically searched for a familiar figure amidst the wreckage, finally spotting him in the crowd.

Mo Xiao had only scraped his arm. He was having it bandaged when the police called Su Mo.

She was listed as his emergency contact, which was why they had called her first.

Worry flashed in Su Mo’s eyes as she looked at his bandaged arm, but it was quickly replaced by relief.

Thankfully, it was only a minor injury.

Yue Ying, standing beside her, also breathed a sigh of relief.

Mo Xiao exchanged a few words with the person next to him, then strode toward Su Mo.

Before she could react, he pulled her into his arms.

His deep voice sounded by her ear. "I’m in love with you. You know that, don’t you? Whether it was back then or now, it’s only ever been you."

’On the verge of life and death, all he could think about was how he hadn’t had the chance to tell her this again since they’d reunited.’

’He had always assumed she understood. That even if she didn’t remember what happened before, she would eventually recall the way her heart used to race for him. All he had to do was give her time.’

’But after what happened today, he suddenly realized it was better to say some things sooner rather than later.’

’Hadn’t they already lost each other to one accident?’

’Life is unpredictable, and tomorrow is never guaranteed. The only thing that’s truly real is how you feel in this very moment.’

’Never leave for tomorrow what you can do today.’

Mo Xiao held her and smiled. "This time, please let me fight for this. Will you... will you give me another chance? Let me prove to you that I’m worthy of your love."

Su Mo leaned against his chest, a smile gracing her lips. "You don’t need to prove anything to me. I’ve seen how wonderful you are for a long time now."

’Once certain people enter your life, they slowly become an indelible part of it.’

’On the way here, she’d had only one thought: Nothing can happen to him. I can’t lose him.’

’Thank goodness today was just a scare.’

Not far away, Xuan Qing and Fei Yan arrived one after the other. Seeing the embracing couple, they shared a knowing smile.

Only Yue Ying’s face was sullen. ’That damned snake has it out for me!’

’First he fought me for the position of main husband, and now he beats me to the confession!!!’

’Just as I’d expect from my old nemesis, he always knows exactly how to steal my thunder!’

——

Su Mo received another message from Long Yan over a month after she had completed the registration with the other three men.

He invited her to visit him where he was staying and sent along a number of scenic photos.

He had sent her things like this before, but she had always turned him down, using her busy clinic as an excuse.

This time, however, Su Mo felt it was time for a trip. She was planning to pursue further studies soon and would have to prepare for the entrance exams, so she probably wouldn’t have another chance to get away for a while.

Most importantly, the men at home were just too clingy... She desperately needed to get away and catch her breath.

Su Mo secretly booked a plane ticket without telling anyone.

It wasn’t until just before takeoff that she finally sent them a text.

Yue Ying was so angry he gritted his teeth. "That shameless, rotten dragon has run off with my Mo’er again?!"

He asked the others in the group chat: So, are we going after her this time?

Xuan Qing: No.

Mo Xiao: Me neither.

Fei Yan: Same.

Yue Ying: ...

’What the hell?’

’I can’t be the only one to chase after her like some jealous fool, can I...?’

’Fine, whatever. I’ll just consider this giving that rotten dragon a chance!’

The first thing Su Mo did after arriving at the airport was send Long Yan a message.

A moment later, he called. "Look to your left."

Su Mo turned and saw him waiting not far away. Long Yan was a little tanner than he looked on video calls, but otherwise, he hadn’t changed a bit.

She started walking toward him, pulling her suitcase, but in her haste, she didn’t notice someone approaching from the side and THUMP—she bumped right into them.

The person’s belongings scattered across the floor, and Su Mo bent down to help pick them up.

Suddenly, a voice, trembling with emotion, sounded beside her. "Wife?!"

Su Mo instinctively looked up and saw a young man whose skin was so fair it was nearly translucent. His light-blue irises seemed to glow.

As he gazed at her, his eyes welled up with a shimmering moisture, and an indescribable emotion surged within them.
