Oops! My Beast Mates Can Hear My Inner Voice
Chapter 225 - 193: Like an Old Friend’s Return 9
By the time Su Mo woke up the next day, the sun was already high in the sky.
She pushed her tired body into a sitting position just as she heard the door open.
Xuan Qing walked in with a glass of warm water and naturally pulled her into his arms. "I already called the clinic and told them you’re resting at home today."
Su Mo took the glass from his hand, had a sip, and leaned listlessly against his chest.
Her eyes swept over the empty box on the nightstand, and her entire face burned crimson.
Following Xuan Qing’s gaze, one could see her faintly blushing face and the scattered red marks on her neck. Further down, a tantalizing view awaited.
He took a shallow breath, unconsciously tightening his embrace.
Su Mo felt like she was pressed against a furnace—a dangerous one. She frowned, instinctively wanting to put some distance between them.
The man’s large palm rested on her slender waist as he said in a hoarse voice, "Don’t move..."
His tone only made Su Mo feel more endangered. She frowned and struggled slightly.
A second later, she heard the man behind her let out a muffled groan. Xuan Qing dipped his head and kissed her mark-laden neck.
"You!"
Su Mo frantically tried to pull away, but his hands held her fast, rendering her unable to move an inch.
"I won’t do anything. I’ll just hold you for a bit."
Su Mo stopped struggling and leaned limply in his arms, mumbling, "Are you... going to be like last night every time?"
He’d been utterly excessive last night. ’If I hadn’t been too exhausted to keep up with his antics, who knows how long he would have kept going.’
His deep breathing tickled her ear. "I do."
"!!!"
Su Mo whipped her head around to glare at him. "No way!"
He took the opportunity to dip his head and lightly peck her red lips. "But it also depends on you." ’On your stamina...’
’That’s more like it,’ Su Mo thought.
Before she could say a word, he dipped his head and kissed her again.
By the time she came to her senses, he had already pushed her down onto the bed, and another round of intense tussling was unavoidable.
In the end, however, he reined in his urges and lifted the deeply resentful Su Mo from the bed. "I’ll take you to eat."
Draped over his shoulder, Su Mo grew more and more irritated the more she thought about it. She lowered her head and bit down on his shoulder.
Xuan Qing didn’t feel pain, just a slight itch. He chuckled softly. Angrily, Su Mo tried to pinch his waist, but it was too firm to get a grip. ’I’ll have to try another spot,’ she thought.
He was still laughing. He loved it when she playfully fought with him like this.
He didn’t want to dwell on the past anymore. All he knew was that this time, she liked him.
Even when they reached the dining table, Xuan Qing was unwilling to let her go.
Su Mo was forced to sit on his lap while he, with one arm around her waist, took a phone call.
"Yeah, I’m not coming to the office today. Something came up."
Su Mo lowered her head to take a spoonful of lily-bulb porridge, and she heard He Yuan’s voice on the other end of the line. "What could you possibly have going on? That partnership I told you about, we can’t delay it any longer!"
"One day won’t make a difference." Xuan Qing’s gaze fell on the woman eating quietly before him, and he chuckled. "My girlfriend is too clingy. I really can’t get away."
Hearing this, Su Mo whipped her head around to look at him. ’What a shameless liar,’ she thought. ’Who’s the clingy one here?!’
He Yuan’s exclamation came from the other end of the phone. "Holy crap! Doctor Su actually managed to snag a perpetual bachelor like you?! Congrats, congrats! Right, well, I won’t get in the way of your romance. You go on, be busy!"
Xuan Qing hung up the phone, reached out with a smile to wipe a bit of porridge from the corner of Su Mo’s lips, and grinned at her. "Want me to feed you?"
Su Mo turned away and resumed eating. ’No way am I letting him feed me,’ she thought. ’He’d definitely start getting handsy!’
That evening, she got a call from Fu Ying, who sounded flustered. "Su Mo, you took the day off? Why? Are you not feeling well? Should I come check on you?"
Su Mo said awkwardly, "I’m fine. Just wanted to take a day off."
"You? The ’money-is-my-life’ workaholic? When have you ever taken a weekday off?" After saying this, Fu Ying seemed to realize something. "Ah, I get it. You must be ’tired,’ right? Something must’ve happened last night, didn’t it?"
"N-Nothing of the sort!"
"The more you deny it, the more suspicious you sound! Fine, you get your rest. I’ll keep an eye on the shop for you." Fu Ying then added deliberately, "And pace yourself. He’s an Enchanting Demon, but you’re not."
"I’m hanging up." Su Mo, blushing, ended the call. She decided to just grab a blanket and lie on the sofa for a bit.
Eventually, she drifted off to sleep.
...
Spring always arrived suddenly in South City. The temperature would shoot up, and the whole world would seem to brighten.
For Enchanting Demons, and especially for single ones, this season was definitely not a good thing.
Su Mo’s little clinic sold countless bottles of suppressants a day, and some cases even required injections for relief.
Fu Ying had rarely come to help at the clinic lately. Su Mo figured she was too busy fending off the several Enchanting Demons in her family to get away.
After the New Year, Little Jiu had landed another role, this time a supporting character in a script written by Fu Ying. She had worked hard for the part, and once filming began, she became incredibly busy.
Since there weren’t many people around noon, Su Mo went into the back room to take a short nap.
To be honest, Xuan Qing had been wearing her out lately. His stamina was already better than that of a typical Enchanting Demon, and this season only made him more restless. It was becoming a real struggle for Su Mo to keep up...
When she was on the phone with Fu Ying last Saturday, her friend had actually tried to secretly set her up on a blind date.
Su Mo couldn’t even imagine what it would be like to have another Enchanting Demon in the house.
She knew Enchanting Demons had good stamina, but she never expected Xuan Qing’s to be *that* good. It was simply killer.
Thankfully, Xuan Qing was leaving on a business trip tomorrow.
He would be gone for a week. When Su Mo heard the news, she let out a huge sigh of relief.
The man across from her watched her expression and chuckled. "That eager for me to leave?"
Su Mo shook her head, trying her best to sound sincere. "Of course not. I’ll miss you... Really!"
Xuan Qing chuckled. "You’d better."
Su Mo took a sip of soup from her bowl, a look of blissful relief on her face.
She had just set down her spoon when the man across from her got up and started walking toward her.
She instinctively turned to run.
But she was a step too late. An arm hooked around her waist, and he swept her up into his arms.
"I—I was going to do the dishes!"
"Don’t bother. I’ll wash them tomorrow morning before I leave."
"W-Well, I still need to take a shower!"
"Time is precious. We’ll do it together."
"No! I want to shower by myself!"
The last time they’d showered together, he had nearly worn her to death right there in the bathroom. She was not doing that with him again!
"..."
But her resistance was ultimately futile against him. He always had a way of coaxing her until her head was spinning, and she’d fall right into his trap in a daze...
"Will you miss me?"
Su Mo bit her lip, whimpering her response. "I will..."
The soft whimpers escaping her lips were enough to ignite every flame within him.
He was like a man possessed, completely unwilling to let her go for even a second.
"What am I going to do? I don’t want to go on this business trip at all now. I just want to stuff you in my suitcase..."
The thought of not seeing her for seven days made Xuan Qing feel like he was going to lose his mind.
Without her scent, how could he possibly sleep?
