Chapter 209 - 180: I’ve Been Waiting for You

On the day Ah Nuan gave birth, one of her Beast Husbands called Su Mo over early in the morning to help.

When she came out holding the two little ones, Ah Nuan’s several Beast Husbands gathered around with nervous expressions.

The two little wolf cubs were sleeping quietly in their swaddling clothes. The men gazed gently at the sleeping cubs, so nervous they didn’t know what to do.

Su Mo took the hand of Ah Nuan’s wolf Beast Husband and placed a cub in his arms. "Don’t be nervous, and don’t use too much force. Just hold the cub gently."

"There’s one more. Who wants to hold this one?"

The rabbit Beast Husband chuckled. "I-I’d like to hold the other one."

After seeing off the neighbors and friends in the afternoon, Su Mo went to the room to check on Ah Nuan and her cubs.

The little wolf cubs were asleep again. Who knew what sweet dreams they were having, their mouths curved into adorable little smiles.

As Su Mo was leaving, she left a bag of coins for Ah Nuan. Ah Nuan tried to return it, saying, "What are you doing? Lately, you’re always giving me things or money. I have money! The coins I earned from you are more than enough. Take it back, quickly!"

She stuffed the coins under Ah Nuan’s pillow. "These are my godson and goddaughter. The full moon banquet must be a grand affair! I’ll be there, and you can’t have me lose face as their godmother."

"Why are you always like this? You make me feel like I’ll never be able to repay you..." Ah Nuan said, her eyes welling up as she looked at her.

Su Mo smiled faintly. "Who asked you to repay me? Don’t cry. You’re not supposed to cry right now."

"Oh, right. When the cubs get a little older, send them all to the school Huang Ming just started!" A mischievous glint flashed in Su Mo’s eyes. "It’ll save you the trouble of them tearing the house down."

Ah Nuan couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "They don’t have names yet. Why don’t you name them?"

Su Mo’s gaze shifted to the two little ones. "Then let’s call them Yun Zhao and Feng Yao. Free and unrestrained."

In the evening, she, Mo Xiao, and the others returned from Ah Nuan’s house. Before they even went inside, they saw Huang Ming waiting at the door.

Huang Ming had been busy with the school lately, and his face was a little gaunt.

Seeing Su Mo, he walked over quickly. "Miss Su, everything is almost arranged. It’s just that not many cubs are willing to come and study..."

Huang Ming waved his hands, embarrassed. "We’re not short on coins, and not short on people!"

Su Mo only left Ah Nuan’s house after dinner. The moonlight was as cool as water, spreading a layer of silvery frost over the twilight. A gentle breeze rustled the swaying trees, and amid the fragmented light, she saw a familiar figure.

Xuan Qing was still dressed in simple white robes, his silver hair stirring gently in the evening wind.

She couldn’t remember how long it had been since they last met. Seeing him again felt like a lifetime had passed.

While Su Mo was lost in a daze, the man was already standing before her.

The night wind swept past. Perhaps because they were so close, her jet-black hair and his silver strands briefly intertwined in the twilight, like a shooting star streaking across the night sky, gone in an instant.

A faint, cool, and lingering fragrance wafted to him.

"I came... for Ah Nuan’s full moon banquet." His voice was as cool and clear as ever. "And to see you."

Su Mo looked up at him and smiled faintly. "Have you been well, Third Young Master?"

"Very well."

’Because you are well, I am also well.’

"Have you eaten then?"

"No. I’ve been waiting for you."

In the end, she brought him back home and made him a simple dinner.

Xuan Qing ate this dinner exceptionally slowly, chewing each mouthful with deliberation. He knew full well that he was waiting, waiting for her to ask him to stay.

Only one day remained until the full moon banquet for Ah Nuan’s cubs. Su Mo had been running over to her place frequently these past two days.

During a moment of leisure, Ah Nuan watched the white figure bustling about her courtyard and said teasingly, "Should I be thanking you? He’s my guest, but I’m troubling you to take care of him. How embarrassing for me!"

Su Mo couldn’t help but roll her eyes. "Cut the fake pleasantries. It’s fine! It’s not like he’s staying for more than a few days anyway."

Ah Nuan just smiled, unconvinced.

That evening, Su Mo helped Ah Nuan’s Beast Husbands confirm the menu for the next day. It was already very late when she went home.

’I’m kind of looking forward to tomorrow’s festivities!’ she thought.

Exhausted from the long day, she should have fallen asleep easily. But tonight, as if she had a premonition, she tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep.

Mo Xiao reached out, pulled the restless woman into his arms, and asked in a low voice, "What’s wrong?"
