Chapter 192 - 174: Don’t Call Me Mother, Call Me Sis
Su Mo had blurted out "Mother" completely on instinct. In the book she had read, the original owner’s parents weren’t described in much detail.
She couldn’t even remember the name of the woman standing before her.
This ’mother’ of the original owner was a little different from what she’d imagined. The woman looked to be in her late thirties—still in her prime, by the standards of Su Mo’s previous world.
The woman’s gaze held a hint of inexplicable excitement as she looked at Su Mo, making the suspicion in Su Mo’s heart grow stronger.
The woman cut straight to the chase. "You’re here about Jiang Wu, aren’t you? Come inside to talk."
Su Mo frowned and said to Mo Xiao, who was behind her, "Wait for me out here."
Mo Xiao glanced at her and nodded. "Alright."
...
The room fell silent for a moment.
"Hello. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Fu Ying."
Su Mo stared at the outstretched hand, silent for a long moment before her brow furrowed uncontrollably. "Fu Ying? Then doesn’t that make you..."
Fu Ying nodded. "It’s just as you think. I was dragged into this place by Jiang Wu’s resentment."
A flash of astonishment crossed Su Mo’s eyes, but her expression quickly returned to its usual calm.
’The author was actually dragged into the plot by the resentment of her own character? A grudge that heavy... that has to be a first.’
The last of Su Mo’s defensiveness melted away. She couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow and chuckle. "Doesn’t that make you the most pathetic author in history?"
Fu Ying sighed. "You didn’t track me down today just to laugh at me, did you?"
Su Mo’s brow furrowed slightly. "Since you’re the author, you should have a way to deal with her."
Fu Ying looked utterly defeated. "After she awakened, she’s not bound by the plot at all. Anything I can think up, she can think up too. To be honest, she’s already killed me eight times... In the previous loops, my memory was a complete blank. I’m just a regular human without a Golden Finger. How am I supposed to kill her?"
"You... you’ve been killed eight times?!" Su Mo knew she shouldn’t laugh, but she couldn’t help it. "Your death rate is terrifyingly consistent."
Fu Ying frowned, grumbling, "Stop laughing! Did you really come here just to mock me?"
Su Mo’s expression turned serious. "Then why did you suddenly regain your memories this time?"
Fu Ying replied, "Probably because... this is the last loop. The last chance. If we can’t change the outcome this time, we will all be utterly annihilated in this reality."
Su Mo’s eyes flew wide. "Are... are you serious?!"
Fu Ying’s brow tightened. "It’s highly likely."
Su Mo frowned. "But this is only your ninth loop, right? Even if you die again... you should still have one more chance, shouldn’t you?"
"The very first time Jiang Wu awakened, I hadn’t arrived in this world yet. So, this is the tenth loop..."
Su Mo stared at her, speechless. "But you’re the one who wrote her to be immortal! If we kill her now, we’ll just die along with her!"
"I never gave her that setting! After she awakened, she went completely off-script and hijacked the protagonist’s abilities."
Su Mo frowned. "Isn’t she the protagonist?"
"Since when was she the protagonist? Don’t tell me you read a fanfiction rewrite?"
Su Mo: "Ah... that’s right. The author of that book was ’Fu Ying 2’. So you’re not the same person?!"
Fu Ying had nothing to say.
Su Mo suddenly had a thought. "So that book Jiang Wu was holding earlier... was that also fanfiction?"
"..."
Fu Ying really had nothing to say now. This whole world was just one giant bug!
’No wonder that villain, Jiang Wu, was acting like she had cheat codes enabled...’
’Could things get any more ridiculous?!’
Fu Ying sighed. "Whatever. It’s not like she’s the only bug in this world right now. The important thing is figuring out how to deal with her!"
Su Mo’s eyes widened as she asked expectantly, "You must have a plan, right? It’s a crisis now, so don’t hold back. Hurry up and play your trump card!"
Fu Ying propped her chin on her hand and said listlessly, "If I had a plan, would I be trapped in this godforsaken place and have been killed by her eight times???"
Su Mo: "..."
A "DING" went off in her mind as Little Nine piped up. ’Host, she seems even more useless than me...’
Su Mo had nothing to say either.
’I thought I’d found an anchor in a storm, but it turns out she’s just a bronze-tier rookie.’
’Why is my life so hard...’
Fu Ying said, her confidence wavering, "But even though Reversed Feather isn’t Jiang Wu’s weakness, we can still attack from another angle! Maybe if we try to sever her connection to this world, we can make her disappear for good."
"How do we do that?"
Fu Ying sighed. "...We’ll... we’ll think of something, right!"
Su Mo took a deep breath, forcing a smile that was uglier than a pained grimace. "Right. Mother is so wise and resourceful. I’m sure you can turn this disaster into a triumph!"
