’That was a close one. Good thing I reacted quickly!’

’Speaking of cell phones, I really do miss them!’

Little Nine suddenly piped up, "Do you really miss your phone, or do you miss all those muscular men you had on it?!?!"

Su Mo: "!!! That’s ridiculous! Am I, am I that kind of person? Don’t you dare use your filthy mind to tarnish my pure thoughts!"

Little Nine scoffed. "Tsk, you already mentioned ’male models’ and you’re still calling yourself pure?! Why don’t you try saying ’male models’ in front of them and see if they don’t make you pay."

Su Mo looked unconcerned. "Like I’m scared. It’s not like they know what that is anyway!"

Fei Yan’s brow twitched. ’Male models?’

His intuition told him it wasn’t anything good.

’Muscular men?’

He could roughly guess what that meant. It seemed his wife’s original world really wasn’t a good place!

He glanced over at Xuan Qing beside him. The furrow in Xuan Qing’s brow had only just smoothed out.

A thought suddenly flashed through Fei Yan’s mind.

Su Mo and Xuan Wei dug for medicinal herbs for a while, then climbed all the way to the mountaintop.

On the summit was a fruit tree, the very one that produced the fresh red fruits that appeared on her table each day after she took her medicine.

The entire mountain was a lush green, with only this single red-fruited tree growing at its peak, making it especially striking.

Su Mo found herself in a daze. The moment she looked up at the red fruits, her brow furrowed slightly.

"Wife?"

She only came back to her senses when Fei Yan’s voice sounded beside her ear.

She turned her head and saw several small red fruits resting in his palm. Su Mo picked one up and took a bite.

’It really is the exact same taste.’

She handed a few to Xuan Wei, who tasted one and smiled. "They’re very sweet."

Then she casually offered some to Xuan Qing, who was leaning against a tree nearby. "Have a couple."

Xuan Qing reached out, took them, and bit into one with a blank expression.

The group sat on the mountain for a while before deciding to head down.

Xuan Wei led the way.

Su Mo followed behind Fei Yan.

On an impulse, she glanced back.

Under the red-fruited tree on the summit, the man with silver hair and simple white robes was reaching up, picking the red fruits one by one. Strands of silver hair danced in the wind, obscuring most of his face and revealing only his sharply defined jaw. The hem of his plain white robes billowed like clouds. He looked at once like an immortal and a demon.

Su Mo’s clear gaze swept over a faint red mark on his left wrist. Before she could get a closer look, the man lifted his eyes to meet hers.

Caught off guard, she found herself lost in his amber eyes and froze.

The next second, she felt a tug on her wrist. Fei Yan, who had been walking ahead, had turned to take her hand. "Why are you walking so slowly?" he asked softly.

A moment later, Su Mo felt a strong gust of wind brush past them. When she looked again, the figure on the mountaintop was gone.

Su Mo didn’t see Xuan Qing again until they had descended the mountain.

While Fei Yan and Xuan Wei were talking, Su Mo seized the opportunity to stare at his wrist and ask with a frown, "Third Young Master, are you injured?"

Xuan Qing met her gaze calmly, his voice faint. "A branch scraped it."

With that, he turned and walked away.

Su Mo frowned.

’See? I knew he wasn’t the easy-going type...’

Hearing this, Xuan Qing’s retreating figure stiffened, and the hand at his side clenched into a fist.

Fei Yan subconsciously glanced at the white figure ahead. At this point, some of his suspicions were confirmed.

’Xuan Qing... he really can hear his wife’s thoughts.’

That evening, Xuan Wei returned to the Tiger Clan. The war with Jiang Wu was not yet over, and things on Xuan Shuang’s end were also tense.

No one knew how long this battle would last. Jiang Wu’s side seemed to have an inexhaustible supply of soldiers.

Another ten days passed. Su Mo used the spy to send more medicine to Jin Tong.

During those ten days, Jiang Wu’s side hadn’t been too aggressive, their attacks sporadic. But tonight, there was finally a breakthrough for Long Yan’s side. His men had captured one of Jiang Wu’s Beast Husbands.

The Dragon Clan was, of course, overjoyed.

They felt that with such a hostage, they could finally negotiate with Jiang Wu.

However, Mo Xiao and the others knew very well that, given Jiang Wu’s personality, she wouldn’t care about a mere Level Seven rabbit Beast Husband.

Still, Long Yan wanted to try. He hoped to exchange this captive for the Think Tank, his wife, and the Little Dragon.

In the early hours of the morning, he brought the hostage outside the encampment to negotiate with Jiang Wu, who remained in her tent, clad in red.

Jiang Wu watched her Beast Husband suspended from the wall, her eyes betraying no emotion. A slight smirk played on her lips, and her tone was utterly cold. "Lord Major General, you truly are naive. What makes you think you can trade him for the four hostages in my hands?"

Long Yan stared at her in disbelief. "But he’s your Beast Husband!"

Jiang Wu sneered. "And so what? Just because he’s my Beast Husband, you think he’s a chip you can use to threaten me? The moment you captured him, he became utterly useless."

Ai Ci, who stood beside her, frowned slightly. "My wife, he is..."

Jiang Wu shot him a cold glare over her shoulder, warning him to say no more.

Jin Tong, standing behind her, watched with deep, unreadable eyes. He was not the least bit surprised by Jiang Wu’s reaction.

This was Jiang Wu—cold and ruthless. She had never changed one bit for anyone.

Jiang Wu raised an eyebrow at Long Yan. "You’d be better off trading Su Mo for them. Then I might actually consider it. One for four, it’s not a bad deal for you!"

Long Yan’s expression darkened. "You’re dreaming!"

On the wall, the faces of Mo Xiao and the others darkened as well.

Jiang Wu sneered. "Since the Lord Major General doesn’t know what’s good for him, don’t blame me for what happens next!"

She clapped her hands, signaling her men to bring the four hostages forward.

When she looked at Long Yan again, her eyes were filled with smug satisfaction. She believed she had already won.

The moment a person develops feelings, they are destined to lose. Whether those feelings are romantic love or familial affection, they become a weakness. And as it happened, Long Yan had both.
