Only I am Venerable
Chapter 515 - 511: Frigid World
For Qin Li had already seized the opportunity, bolting into the distance with lightning speed. Qu Zhi’s face turned ashen with rage as he cursed internally, ’Little bastard, you think you can just run off after setting all those explosions? Not a chance in hell!’
With a single beat of his wings, Qu Zhi sent a crisp whistle through the air, his body streaking after Qin Li like a bolt of lightning.
Qin Li had realized his opponent was likely summoning reinforcements, which was why he had given up the chance for a head-on fight with a Thunder Tribulation Realm Martial Artist and beat a hasty retreat instead.
Qin Li knew full well what the secrets he carried meant to those who understood their value. Therefore, he would never give them an obvious opportunity to surround and attack him.
Throughout his journey, Qin Li headed consistently west, never once turning east.
Qu Zhi, for his part, was completely fixated on Qin Li, staying hot on his heels. For more than ten days, one pursued while the other fled. Qin Li had already covered thousands of miles, yet he still couldn’t shake Qu Zhi.
And in the process of fleeing, Qin Li discovered that it was actually helping him absorb Five Elements Qi!
The absorbed Five Elements Qi, in turn, was immensely beneficial for advancing his Purple Qi Technique. So, Qin Li seized this opportunity to cultivate with frantic intensity.
If Qu Zhi knew that Qin Li was actually using this escape to cultivate, he would probably cough up blood from sheer rage. Even now, he couldn’t figure out how this kid was so good at running. The distance between them remained a constant thirty miles or so; when he stopped, the boy stopped, and when he gave chase, the boy would run.
Clearly, Qin Li’s Divine Sense had also grown to a considerable level. Qu Zhi gradually began to shed his contempt for Qin Li, no longer viewing him as some random target he could bully at will, but as a worthy opponent he could face head-on.
Unfortunately for him, Qin Li never gave him the chance for a direct confrontation, running with unbelievable speed!
It wasn’t as if Qin Li encountered no dangers during these days. In his haste to escape, he had no time to choose his path and often stumbled into the territories of powerful Spirit Beasts.
The roars of two powerful White Tiger Spirit Beasts were so terrifying that even Qu Zhi, nearly thirty miles away, gave them a wide berth. Those two White Tigers pursued Qin Li for almost three thousand miles.
Gradually, Qin Li strayed from his course toward the Land of the Far West and began heading north.
The north and south poles, according to rumor, were sealed under hundreds of thousands of miles of perennial ice and snow, a land of polar days and polar nights. Legend also told of the true northern polar regions, home to incomparably powerful Martial Artists who had existed since the Primordial Era, untouched by the ravages of war. Even the Purple Eyes, it was said, disliked the frozen, snow-covered north!
Qin Li actually wanted to find a completely desolate place and have a decisive battle with this Purple-eyed Emperor Ancestor. He was confident he wouldn’t lose. Unfortunately, his intuition told him that Qu Zhi was not the only Purple-eyed Emperor Ancestor on his trail!
Upon reaching his current realm, Qin Li had gained a certain degree of foresight. During occasional flashes of insight, he could even clearly predict events that were about to unfold!
Although Qin Li wasn’t well-versed in the Divination Skill, he had grasped a little of it. The memories he had inherited from Hu Yanbo contained a great deal of knowledge on the subject, but Qin Li had never taken the time to study it seriously.
The life of a fugitive was tedious, dull, and profoundly lonely. Months would often pass without a single sign of human life, or even an animal.
The farther north he traveled, the colder it grew—a dry, biting cold. Even Qin Li, whose body had been tempered countless times, found it difficult to endure. He had no idea why that Purple-eyed Emperor Ancestor, Qu Zhi, was so persistent, still trailing him after all this time.
During his lonely journey, Qin Li began to reflect on everything that had happened since he first transmigrated to this world, on all the mistakes he had made and the winding paths he had taken.
He had been in a coma for a long time, often hearing his mother, Qin Hanyue’s, soft sobs and the troubles she would pour out to him when she had no one else to turn to. Back then, Qin Li knew almost nothing about this world and was convinced he was just dreaming.
It wasn’t until that brute, Physician Wu, dared to think of laying a hand on his mother that Qin Li had suddenly erupted from his coma, sending the man flying with a single kick...
Thinking back on everything that happened later with the Qin Family in Yellow Sand City, Qin Li felt that while he may have been a bit reckless at the time, it was only because he didn’t understand this world well enough. He had no regrets.
If Qin Hongyuan had treated him and his mother just a little better back then, perhaps the Qin Family would never have been destroyed. The faces of Qin Feng and Qin Hu suddenly surfaced in his mind, and he couldn’t help a bitter smile. ’Even if those two brothers are still alive,’ he thought, ’they’re probably hiding in some corner, terrified I’ll find them, aren’t they?’
His name was already renowned throughout the Cyan Dragon Kingdom. He was likely known in the various Mysterious Lands as well, and his fame in the Land of the Far West was even greater... He never expected that he would accidentally become a celebrity in this world.
A self-deprecating smile touched Qin Li’s lips. ’What kind of celebrity gets chased all over the place by a pack of damned Purple-eyed Emperor Ancestors, forced to flee in such a sorry state?’
As Qin Li continued to reminisce, he suddenly realized that his time in the Cyan Dragon Imperial Capital had been the happiest period of his life since coming to this world.
It was the time when he was known as Teacher Qin Li.
’Those students I taught back then must have graduated by now, right?’ he wondered. ’Have they all become pillars of the Cyan Dragon Kingdom?’
His strength hadn’t been particularly great back then, but his status and position were by no means low. The former emperor of the Cyan Dragon Kingdom had also treated him quite well. It was a shame the Cyan Dragon Royal Family suffered such a drastic upheaval, with kinsmen turning on each other... ’Otherwise,’ he mused, ’would I have left the Cyan Dragon Kingdom so soon?’
As he thought this, Qin Li sighed softly. He knew that even if he went back to the Cyan Dragon Kingdom, he would never be able to recapture that old feeling. The shops he had personally established were likely still there, but everything else had changed.
Before him lay endless glaciers, a boundless, white expanse. In a place like this, it was difficult to even tell east from west. Qin Li knew he was likely approaching the polar world of ice and snow in the far north.
’How long have I been on the run?’
Qin Li hadn’t kept a detailed count, but he figured it had to have been several months. Fortunately, the Qin Family didn’t have much need for him at the moment. He believed that with Shangguan Shiyu, Bai Zhongshan, Leng Yao, Cao Hong, and Qin Suo, the Qin Family’s power would only continue to grow.
It wouldn’t be many years before the Qin Family would possess the strength to stand up and face any family or Sect! When that time came, not even the Hai Family would dare to act as arrogant and domineering as they did now!
Looking back on everything that had happened, he might have some regrets, but he had never felt true remorse. In his previous life, Qin Li had been a restless person at his core, incapable of living a quiet, conventional life.
He loved adventure, loved excitement, and loved a life full of new experiences!
Therefore, this journey, though incredibly tedious, was a rare opportunity for Qin Li to reflect and mature, making his spirit even more resilient.
Qin Li’s strength was also growing imperceptibly. This was especially true the farther north he went, as the frigid air grew stronger. To resist the cold, Qin Li had no choice but to cultivate desperately to strengthen his constitution.
This, in turn, created a virtuous cycle. ’I imagine the one behind me has noticed this as well,’ he thought. ’True powerhouses never pass up an opportunity to cultivate, and they are adept at finding such chances!’
There were no plants here, not a single trace of green. Animals were also a rare sight. The land was an endless expanse of white beneath a sky as blue as if it had been washed clean.
Fortunately, Qin Li’s Storage Ring was large enough to hold a countless variety of foods. He could easily survive for several years without any issue.
One day, in the middle of his mad dash, he suddenly ground to a halt. He stood there, staring blankly at his feet and the scene before him.
At Qin Li’s feet lay an endless abyss!
Even with his powerful eyesight, Qin Li couldn’t see how deep the abyss was.
It stretched endlessly to his left and right, giving the impression that the entire planet had been cleaved in two by a single, massive blade. It was bottomlessly deep and impossibly wide... With his vision, Qin Li could see for over a hundred miles without any obstacles, yet he could not see the other side of this great chasm!
If the sight of the Divine Temple had been a shock to his very soul—a sense of awe at how anyone could have built such a magnificent structure, concluding it must be the work of gods—then what he felt now left him utterly speechless. Even gods would have a hard time creating a sight like this!
’What in the world is this? How could such a massive fissure have formed? Just how large is this planet?’
These questions swirled endlessly in his mind, impossible to shake.
Qin Li couldn’t be sure he could fly across a chasm so wide he couldn’t see the other side. Likewise, he didn’t dare try to slide down the slippery glacier into its depths.
’Who knows what’s down there? What if it’s nothing but a dark sea below? What would I do then? Carve a cave into the glacier and hide? Not likely.’
Only now did Qin Li truly feel a sense of powerlessness. In the face of magnificent nature, the saying "man can conquer nature" seemed like nothing more than a joke.
It was something anyone could say, but no one would ever truly believe.
Qin Li could already feel the powerful aura behind him drawing closer and closer. He suddenly remembered—that damned Purple-eyed Emperor Ancestor had wings!
’Fuck me!’
At that moment, Qin Li truly felt the urge to curse his mother. He had originally assumed his pursuer’s wings were just for show, but before this massive chasm, they gave his opponent an overwhelming advantage!
’Am I going to have to... make my last stand here?’
Qin Li’s eyes flickered. He wasn’t afraid of a fight. The problem was, who knew how many more Purple-eyed Emperor Ancestors would be arriving in hot pursuit?
Just then, Qin Li suddenly spun around and saw someone. The expression on his face was a sight to behold! (To be continued. More Chapters, support the author, and support legitimate reading!)
