Chapter 659: Blot Out The Sky

Perhaps because the degree of change that Leo caused was larger than usual, exactly five different events had been triggered, all of different nature.

’Well... This is somewhat unexpected.’

Even if the ones that Leo was fully confident would appear were excluded, that was a total of three whole unexpected point jackpots!

The importance of the Trial of Defense itself seemed to translate to more event sensitivity when coupled with the worth of the characters involved.

Normally, sparing some side character from torture or letting one enter a place they weren’t supposed to see... The book wouldn’t have recorded a single word.

However, in such a vital Gate, dealing with both the protagonist and a mystery villain, changing anything related to their journey netted a Rare Event at the lowest!

’I didn’t know that multiversal achievements were a thing.’

Was it because they had just been to the Multiversal Arena of Ascension?

’Nah.’

Rather than the plot affecting the Personal Book, Leo believed that it was the other way around.

The Multiversal Arena merely provided Leo with the convenience of providing this large number of True Dragons for him to slay.

Otherwise, encountering so many of them in the wild would only happen in Dragonic Domination Novels, a world that Leo dreaded the thought of being dropped into.

’Unless myself in that world is the bane of Dragons, it’s a guaranteed death sentence.’

Considering that such characters were usually the protagonists, Leo didn’t like his chances.

’But what exactly qualifies as a True Dragon?’

Considering the nature of his existence, Leo couldn’t help questioning the boundaries of these types of achievement events.

If all he needed was to kill large numbers of legendary species, then there were many ways to exploit this.

The simplest method that came to mind was choosing to commit a legendary massacre when the novel being ’read’ had weaker variations of such creatures.

After all, not all Dragons were as terrifying as the ones that Leo met in this world. In some novels and comic books, they were even treated as simple mounts.

’I doubt it’s that simple.’

However, Leo immediately cut his thoughts short. The Personal Book was simple to deal with, but its criteria weren’t anything if not stringent.

The criteria of such achievements still had to be tested, but Leo was sure that fakes could never pass for the true thing.

If he wanted to use this route to increase his Reading Points, Leo’s only option was to pray for other novels to provide him with the convenience that the City Of Villains did.

’Honestly, the biggest surprise is the amount of points that have been piling up.’

Leo was aware that the curve of Reading Points always peaked towards the end of the novel, but to get so many points before reaching the finale itself was unprecedented.

’Not that I don’t welcome it.’

Considering the number of abilities he currently possessed and the force they wielded, Leo would certainly need a humongous amount of points even if he only wanted the absolute must-keeps.

’I guess we are already here.’

Once Leo finished contemplating the circumstances of his bumper harvest, the walk of camaraderie had almost come to an end.

"I won’t be making an appearance this time around, so there are some things we need to agree on before I leave."

Alas, it was time to separate once more.

"...Do- Do you really have to go? If you can use the same disguise ability you used last time, you can definitely pass for one of those sisters-"

Surprisingly enough, the one speaking so awkwardly was none other than Aurora herself.

Either that walk had been really super effective, or that reward really had something to do with her change, because the Aurora that Leo knew would have asked him to surrender himself to the authorities instead.

"Unfortunately, that would be too inconvenient for me."

"Do- Don’t misunderstand! I’m not saying we should stay together, but that voice definitely mentioned something about a greater battle. If we are to prepare for it-"

"I understand what you mean, but having to act as someone else for too long would impede my movement."

Now that the protagonist was asking for his presence, Leo really wasn’t being a tsundere.

It was just that the preparations he had to make and the plans he had to carry out before the finale weren’t easy to pull off while maintaining the identity of someone under constant monitoring.

Honestly, he could do it if he put his mind to it, but cosplaying as a woman was definitely against Leo’s principles.

"I- I get it-"

"But it’s not like we can’t meet again when we need to. As long as you keep this on you, the shadows will take me to your location whenever we need to gather around."

Feeling that Aurora would cry if he said no to everything, Leo quickly presented the idea that he had in mind from the start.

As long as Aurora wasn’t as hostile as she was in the first trial, the plan was to suggest a proper cooperation method for the sake of carrying Leo’s plans more smoothly.

As such, Leo was more than happy to provide her with a glass marble filled with the concentrated essence of Shadow Enigma so they could reconvene whenever the situation called for a meeting.

"Oh. This also works!"

Upon catching the shadow marble that Leo threw to her, Aurora almost jumped in place like a happy little girl; the way she behaved only increased Leo’s confusion.

"Nothing for me?"

Almost immediately, Kara jumped in to ask for her own shadow marble. Leo wasn’t sure if she was staying in character or if she was just jealous, but he handed her one anyway.

"There you go."

For now, he decided to omit the fact that she already had a shadow marble of her own.

"See you later, then."

As Leo waved the two goodbye, he melted into a shadow spot before passing through the portal.

As soon as he passed through, he was prepared to use Shadow Movement to teleport far away.

However, as a familiar voice made its way to his ears, Leo stopped in his tracks, reappearing only a short distance away in a corner hidden from the large crowds.

’Now that’s the real unexpected part.’

As shocking news was calmly reported to Leo, his eyes naturally gravitated upwards.

Morning sunlight was no more, completely blotted out by the blood-red words covering the sky...
