Chapter 474 474: The Birth of the New Evil God

Deep within the Daskhollow Base, Nova lifted her head and gazed upward.

She could feel it—an immensely powerful monster was racing straight toward her location.

“So fast already?”

Nova murmured to herself with mild surprise.

She had thought the Silent Dark Shadow would take far longer to pass through the base’s countless security gates. But no matter what, she had no retreat. Other than fighting to the death, there was no other choice left for her.

For Nova, the only piece of good news was that the torches were still burning.

Light and heat filled the entire enclosed area.

As long as the Silent Dark Shadow entered this place, it would inevitably be weakened.

Nova made one last inspection of her weapons.

Every single one was still in top condition—meaning that in the coming battle, the only thing she needed to ensure was that she herself remained in peak shape.

It was at that moment that she suddenly sensed the light around her dimming slightly.

Her reflexes kicked in instantly.

She snatched up the torch and pulled it close, then aimed her specially modified handgun toward a shadowed corner not far away.

“No need to hide—I know you’re there!”

Nova shouted loudly.

Without hesitation, she opened fire on the corner in rapid succession.

The bullets from her custom handgun carried a potent light-based energy—something that was extremely effective against the Silent Dark Shadow.

When the bullets struck the shadow in the corner, it exploded instantly!

In the blink of an eye, thick, suffocating darkness swept over the entire area, leaving the torch able to illuminate only a small circle around Nova.

At the same time, masses of shadow began surging toward her.

Nova felt her breath catch—she was on the verge of suffocation.

“No! I will not fail!”

Her resolve hardened.

Forcing herself to endure, she activated a peculiar artifact she kept in her pocket.

The moment it was triggered, the shrill ringing of an alarm clock echoed out.

And then—the flow of time around her slowed dramatically.

The speed at which the shadows were gathering dropped sharply!

Seizing the opportunity, Nova broke free from their suffocating encirclement.

She quickly darted to a corner of the area—

the spot where the shadows were thinnest, giving her a brief reprieve to prepare her counterattack.

Before the battle had even begun, she had already devised a strategy for dealing with the Silent Dark Shadow.

Her plan was to unleash all the light-attribute energy contained within the torch in a single, devastating burst.

If the plan succeeded, the Silent Dark Shadow would be dealt a grievous blow—there was no doubt about it.

The only reason she hadn’t activated this plan from the very start was because the Silent Dark Shadow’s sudden ambush had forced her onto the defensive.

Now that she had managed to shake off the monster’s assault, there was no reason to delay any longer.

Gripping the torch tightly, Nova fixed a cold, unwavering gaze on the direction where the shadows lay thickest.

“Even if it means taking you down with me, I’ll stop you!”

The moment the words left her mouth, she raised her specially modified handgun and fired—

shattering the torch.

In the instant it broke apart, blinding light erupted outward, flooding the entire area.

Every shadow was obliterated in that single moment.

Even Nova herself, despite having braced for it, was blinded by the searing brilliance.

Her vision went white; she couldn’t see a thing.

Her own condition wasn’t great, but a surge of satisfaction welled up inside her.

She could feel it—the Silent Dark Shadow within the enclosed space had been severely wounded.

The chaotic energy she had sensed before was gone, which meant the creature had been forced to burn through the vast majority of its own chaotic power just to recover.

“See now how dangerous I am?” Nova sneered. “But this fight isn’t over yet! I have to finish you off completely!”

Wounding the Silent Dark Shadow wasn’t her endgame—utterly destroying it was.

As soon as she could make out her surroundings again, Nova sprang into action.

She leveled her custom handgun and fired at the few lingering wisps of shadow scattered across the area.

This time, the Silent Dark Shadow didn’t strike back.

One after another, the remaining shreds of darkness were erased under her relentless fire.

At last, Nova allowed herself to relax just a little.

In her mind, the reason the Silent Dark Shadow wasn’t retaliating was simple—

it had no strength left to fight back.

That meant the battle was, for all intents and purposes, over—the only thing left was to clean up the battlefield.

“Eliminating the Silent Dark Shadow should give me a massive amount of experience points. Who knows, maybe its remains will even form into a powerful magical artifact.”

Nova was already imagining the rewards she might reap once the fight was done.

But just as she fully let her guard down, every last shadow in the area suddenly converged into one.

In the next instant, a pitch-black sphere shot away at incredible speed toward the far end of the area.

Nova was stunned at the sight.

Her shock didn’t last long—because once it faded, her mind was flooded by a single emotion: fear.

The black sphere was speeding straight toward the armory.

She had relaxed far too soon!

If that black sphere made it inside the armory, everything would be over.

Fueled by a mix of terror and rage, Nova sprinted after it with everything she had.

“I have to stop it! Even if it kills me, I’ll catch up!”

She truly pushed herself to her limits—but no matter how fast she ran, she still couldn’t match the black sphere’s speed.

It reached the armory first.

The moment it crossed the threshold, the black sphere morphed into a vague, shadow-formed humanoid figure.

The amorphous shadow body quickly spread out, pouring into every corner of the armory.

The Silent Dark Shadow was searching at full speed for the item it wanted!

Just then, a loud crash echoed from outside the armory door.

Nova hadn’t managed to stop the Silent Dark Shadow, but she had arrived just outside the armory at incredible speed.

Without hesitation, she launched a relentless assault on the door, desperately trying to force it open.

But the armory’s security door was the most heavily reinforced barrier in the entire base—and after all the other security gates had been unlocked, this one had received special fortification.

That meant Nova had no way to break in quickly.

The Silent Dark Shadow didn’t know this, but in truth, it had no other choice either.

All it could do now was find the object it sought and use it to gain a fundamental boost in power.

Seconds ticked by. Both sides were strung tight with tension.

Finally, cracks began to form in the armory’s security door—

and that meant Nova was about to break through.

It was at that moment that the Silent Dark Shadow finally found what it had been seeking—a gemstone radiating a sinister purple-black light.

Within the gem pulsed traces of chaotic energy… and, more importantly, seawater from the Chaos Ocean itself.

The seawater was the key.

Using the last of its remaining strength, the Silent Dark Shadow crushed the purple-black gemstone.

Just then, the armory’s security door shattered into pieces.

Nova burst into the room.

“Whatever you’re trying to do, you’re too late!”

The Silent Dark Shadow’s cold voice echoed in the air—

and for the first time, it spoke in human language.

Right before Nova’s eyes, the Silent Dark Shadow injected the Chaos Ocean’s seawater directly into its own body.

The moment the seawater touched it, it roared to life.

An infinite tide of chaotic energy flooded into the creature, and at the very core of its being, a purple-black mark began to take shape.

That mark… was a divine rank.

With the power of the Chaos Ocean’s seawater, the Silent Dark Shadow had finally achieved its long-sought goal—

it had become a true god.

Nova didn’t know exactly what had happened, but she could feel it—the Silent Dark Shadow’s power was surging at a terrifying rate.

She had come here intending to strike, but the instant she sensed that overwhelming growth of strength, fear gripped her heart.

She knew she had to run, to find somewhere to hide.

The current Silent Dark Shadow was far beyond anything she could hope to oppose.

The moment she made the decision, she turned and fled.

The Silent Dark Shadow didn’t give chase; stabilizing its new power was far more important to it.

Nova fled upward along the very passage the Silent Dark Shadow had used to reach the base’s deepest chamber.

She was fast—blisteringly fast—but even so, she didn’t make it out of the danger zone in time.

Just as she emerged onto the surface, a terrifying wave of chaotic energy surged up from the depths below.

And with it, the Silent Dark Shadow’s voice slammed into her mind.

“Hahahaha! I’ve finally done it! I’ve become a god! All must bow before me—for I am the first god this world has ever known!”

Hearing those words, Nova was utterly stunned.

Never in her wildest imagination had she thought that the Silent Dark Shadow would actually ascend to godhood.

She didn’t doubt for a moment that it was telling the truth—

because if it hadn’t truly become a god, it would have been impossible for it to project its voice directly into her mind.

And so, just like that, a new evil god had been born into the real world.

One that would undoubtedly pose an immense threat to humanity.

But that was not what Nova needed to worry about right now.

Her immediate concern was her own survival.

The immense fluctuations of chaotic energy were spreading outward at terrifying speed.

It wasn’t long before the people of Refuge 102 felt the surge of that chaotic wave.

Panic swept through them, for chaotic energy fluctuations had always been closely tied to the threat of monsters.

And such an overwhelming surge could only mean one thing—

that the danger from monsters this time was going to be catastrophic.
