Chapter 85: Acquiring the Elemental Sub-Talents [1]
Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Acquiring the Elemental Sub-Talents [1]
Fwoosh!
A warm, golden glow spread across Leon’s panel, flowing outward in smooth waves.
It looked almost identical to the first time he had upgraded his storage space. The light pulsed once, twice, and then slowly pulled inward, devouring the ten thousand Eternal Coins he had just spent.
Leon watched calmly as the coins vanished, not even a trace left behind.
A few seconds passed.
Then—
Ding!
[Your “Storage Space” slots have increased to 150.]
“Perfect.”
Leon let out a satisfied breath. One hundred and fifty slots was more than enough for now.
In fact, it was enough that he wouldn’t need to think about storage space for a long time.
Unless he went completely insane and started grinding materials nonstop, there was no realistic way he’d fill all of that anytime soon.
And there was another reason he felt comfortable stopping here. The next upgrade would cost thirty thousand Eternal Coins.
Leon shook his head slightly at the thought. Just like everything else in Eternal Ascension, the better things got, the more expensive they became. The system never let you relax for long.
Still, this was worth it.
With his storage worries handled, Leon shifted his attention to his sub-talents panel. His gaze stopped on the newly evolved one.
[Fire Integration (C-Level): You are able to control fire far better than your peers, allowing you to integrate it into your spells in a much more efficient way. Fire-related abilities will deal less damage to you.]
“Pretty good.”
Leon nodded slowly. It wasn’t anything outrageous compared to some of the insane sub-talents he already had, but it was solid. Reliable. Useful.
And more importantly, it directly boosted one of his strongest spells. His [Powerful Fireball].
Even before this, that spell was already dangerous thanks to his Spirit Staff and high skill level. Now, with Fire Integration enhancing it further, its destructive power had clearly stepped into a higher tier.
Leon didn’t waste time standing around.
He tightened his grip on his staff and moved forward, continuing deeper into the Elemental Lands.
The environment around him grew more intense with every step. The wind howled harder, lightning crackled more frequently overhead, and the air itself felt heavy with unstable energy.
It didn’t take long before new enemies revealed themselves. Leon came to a halt as several shapes emerged ahead.
—
[Pure Lightning Snake (Mutated)]
[Level: 25][Talent: Pure Lightning Affinity (B-Level)]
[Combat Power: 69,000]
[Details: A snake that can emit a powerful lightning strike to stun targets and devour them.]
—
[Strong Wind Goblin Archer (Mutated)]
[Level: 25]
[Talent: Strong Wind Affinity (B-Level)]
[Combat Power: 70,000]
[Details: A goblin that has abandoned its clan to pursue the path of wind affinity.]
—
Leon’s eyes narrowed slightly. These weren’t ordinary monsters.
Both of them were clearly mutated by elemental energy, and the B-Level talents alone made them dangerous.
Either one of them would be more than enough to wipe out most level 25 players without much effort. And they weren’t alone.
Around them stood several weaker monsters, regular Lightning Snakes and Wind Goblin Archers. While weaker, they still weren’t something an average player would want to deal with in a group.
To Leon, though… This scene looked like a feast.
An all-you-can-eat buffet of elemental sub-talents. A wide grin slowly formed on his face as he lifted his staff.
“Let’s see how much stronger this really is.”
Powerful Fireball!
Mana surged violently through Leon’s body and into his staff. A fireball formed at its tip, but this time, it didn’t stop at its usual size. It kept growing.
The air around it twisted and distorted, heat radiating outward in visible waves. The fireball burned brighter, hotter, and far denser than anything Leon had summoned before in this life.
The monsters felt it.
The Wind Goblins froze mid-step, their instincts screaming danger. Even the mutated Lightning Snake hesitated, its body tensing as arcs of lightning sparked defensively across its scales.
Then—
Fwoosh!
Leon launched the fireball. It streaked forward like a miniature sun and slammed directly into the center of the group.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion shook the land.
Flames erupted outward in all directions, scorching everything within a ten-meter radius. The ground cracked and blackened instantly, the air filling with heat and smoke.
Most of the monsters didn’t even have time to scream. They were erased on the spot.
The few that survived were badly injured, barely clinging to life.
Leon didn’t give them a chance to recover. He dashed forward, drawing his sword in one smooth motion.
Slash!
Arrows flew toward him from the remaining Wind Goblin Archer, but Leon deflected them effortlessly, his blade moving with precise control.
In the next instant, he closed the distance and cleanly severed the goblin’s head.
As for the mutated Lightning Snake, it had already been reduced to ash.
Ding!
[You have killed x7 “Wind Goblin Archer” and “Strong Wind Goblin Archer (Mutated)”]
[You have killed x5 “Lightning Snake” and “Pure Lightning Snake (Mutated)”]
[100% Drop Rate has triggered. Items have been automatically placed in your storage space.]
Leon didn’t even pause. He immediately opened his storage space.
[Sub-Talent Scrolls: x7 “Wind Affinity (C-Level),” x1 “Strong Wind Affinity (B-Level),” x5 “Lightning Affinity (C-Level),” x1 “Pure Lightning Affinity (B-Level)”]
Just as expected. Every single sub-talent the monsters possessed had dropped cleanly.
Leon’s heartbeat picked up slightly as he stared at the list. Even with all his experience, moments like this still sparked excitement deep inside him.
B-Level elemental sub-talents weren’t common. They were valuable. Powerful. Game-changing.
And he had just obtained two of them like it was nothing.
Without wasting time, Leon poured his mana into the scrolls.
Fwoosh! Ding!
[Congratulations, you have learned the B-Level Sub-Talent: “Pure Lightning Affinity.”]
[Congratulations, you have learned the B-Level Sub-Talent: “Strong Wind Affinity.”]
Leon exhaled slowly.
With this, he had now obtained two of the four basic elemental sub-talents: Fire and Wind.
Lightning wasn’t one of the basics, but Leon knew it would be useful in the future.
Most players would be lucky to ever acquire even one elemental affinity. Fewer still would gain multiple. And yet Leon had gathered them effortlessly, barely breaking a sweat.
He already knew how valuable this would be in the future.
Once he acquired more spells tied to these elements, his combat versatility would skyrocket.
He wouldn’t just be strong, he would be adaptable.
And this place… The Elemental Lands. It was practically designed to give him exactly what he needed.
Leon made a mental note to save some of the extra sub-talent scrolls. Emilia would benefit greatly from them, and any future companions would as well.
If not, he could always sell them.
The Trading House paid extremely well for elemental sub-talents, especially B-Level ones.
Eternal Coins weren’t just for storage upgrades, they were required for high-level quests, rare items, special services, and even access to certain zones.
Having more was never a bad thing. For now, though, Leon focused on fusion.
He began fusing the sub-talent scrolls together, one attempt after another. Some failed.
Lightning crackled briefly as four lightning affinity scrolls shattered, the fusion unsuccessful.
Leon frowned but didn’t dwell on it. Failures were expected.
Then—
Ding!
[You have evolved “Strong Wind Affinity (B-Level)” to “Wind Dominion (A-Level).”]
Leon’s eyes widened slightly.
“Nice.”
He had gotten lucky. An A-Level elemental sub-talent was on an entirely different level.
He immediately checked the descriptions.
[Wind Dominion (A-Level): The wind now recognizes you as its ruler. Your control over wind-based abilities has drastically increased, allowing you to shape, suppress, and command surrounding air with far greater authority. Wind-related attacks will deal significantly less damage to you. Your movement speed and aerial control are greatly enhanced.]
[Pure Lightning Affinity (B-Level): Your body and mana have become closely aligned with lightning. Your control over lightning-based abilities has improved greatly, allowing faster activation and sharper precision. Lightning-related attacks will deal less damage to you, and your reaction speed is moderately enhanced.]
Leon smiled. These weren’t just simple damage boosts.
They enhanced his body, his reactions, his survivability.
With Fire Integration, Wind Dominion, and Pure Lightning Affinity, Leon had become extremely resistant to elemental attacks.
On top of that, his movement speed, reaction speed, and spell control had all improved. He felt stronger.
’Two down,’ Leon thought, a confident grin spreading across his face, ’Only two more elemental sub-talents to go.’
And somewhere deeper within the Elemental Lands, he knew they were waiting for him.
