Chapter 489: Cowards, Four More To Go
The chairman of Divine Academy, Dominik, was an extremely smart man, so Leon knew for a fact that he wouldn’t just let the teachers fight by themselves.
This was too much of a risk for someone who calculated everything the way Dominik did.
He probably sent Monika, the teacher that Emilia killed, to assess their strength and see how easily they could defeat her, treating her like a test rather than an actual fighter.
And since he saw that she got one-shotted by Emilia’s attack, he was now much more careful in what he was doing.
That single exchange had told him more about their group than any amount of planning ever could.
Basically... there was no way in hell this wasn’t a trap.
"Do we fight?" Violet mumbled as she stared at the teachers, "I can freeze the entire chamber over if you want."
"No," Leon shook his head, "Dominik is either watching, or he’s ready to intervene at any moment, we have to be careful about him."
In fact, Leon lifted his staff, and from the ground, an Undead Berserker appeared with its massive frame towering over the ground beneath it.
Leon pointed forward, "Enter this room."
The Undead Berserker simply nodded and stepped forward very slowly as his agility was incredibly low, but that was exactly what Leon wanted since there was no point in sending something fast into a room that was clearly trapped.
If something was going to trigger a trap, he wanted it to be something disposable, and the Undead Berserker fit that role perfectly.
And the exact moment he passed the veil of the door...
BOOM!
A giant hammer slammed down, instantly killing the Undead Berserker even with its incredibly high constitution, which said a lot about just how much power was packed into that single trap.
The force of the impact sent shockwaves through the floor, and the Undead Berserker was reduced to nothing but scattered bones in an instant.
"Wow, these players actually use their brains," Lotus sighed, "Unlike most of our students."
"I-I told you i-it wouldn’t work," Domi nervously said, "W-We should just a-all gang up o-on them!"
"You saw how easily they killed Monika, didn’t you?" Alikar, the teacher that had beef with Leon when he bumped into him, roared, "I knew the very first instant I saw this kid I should have killed him."
"No need to be so nervous everybody," Leoric smiled, "They are in OUR domain, and they can’t leave or enter this room, plus, Dominik by himself would be strong enough to kill them all."
"That’s true," Lotus nodded, "So then what?"
The teachers were actively talking between one another without any concern for the fact that Leon and his group could hear every word they said, which only proved just how confident they were in whatever plan Dominik had put together.
At the same time, Leon summoned a few more Undead Skeletons and ordered them to move forward, wanting to test whether the trap would trigger the same way every single time or if it had some kind of limit that could be exploited.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Each time they stepped through the room though, no matter how fast, the giant hammer kept smashing them to bits before they could get more than a single step inside.
And it became clear very quickly that this trap wasn’t going to run out of energy anytime soon.
"We can’t fight you if you keep hiding behind this thing," Emilia shouted.
The teachers were too busy to reply to any of them though, and Lotus was the only one who smirked, "That’s the point."
"Should I just fire from here? We can still see them."
"Try."
Emilia quickly launched her Divine Wrath ability at the teachers, but it was blocked by the entrance without even leaving a scratch.
"Chairman Dominik made it so that no skill or ability can leave or enter this room," Alikar laughed.
’That means they can’t hurt us either from here,’ Leon noted, ’But also that the only way to get rid of them is to enter.’
To Leon, this seemed like some of the most cowardly tactics he had seen in this life.
From teachers of a prestigious academy like this, also blessed by the gods, they were actual cowards who hid behind barriers instead of facing their enemies head-on.
And yet...
"Alright, I’m going through," Leon said with a groan, "We’re killing them."
"But how?" Violet asked, "Be careful, that hammer might even be able to kill you..."
"Watch," he smiled.
Leon summoned another row of skeletons, ordering them to move forward.
BAM!
As usual, they got smashed by the hammer, but the exact moment the hammer came down, he immediately rushed forward and slashed at it.
"Haha, this idiot thinks he can cut through magic like this?" Alikar laughed, "It would take someone with at least twice my own strength to be able to destroy it, plus the fact that you can’t cut through magic usually!"
Unfortunately for the teachers though, Leon literally had a sword like this: the Magicless Sword.
’The description says that it can cut through magic attacks much more easily than others if I remember right.’
And indeed, the very moment Leon’s sword hit the hammer, his insane strength, combined with the sword’s power, cut through the hammer, shattering it instantly and sending fragments of magical energy scattering across the floor.
The barrier at the entrance of Divine Academy was much stronger than this one, so he wasn’t able to cut it normally, but this one was weaker.
"What...?" Alikar’s eyes widened.
And at that moment, Leon sent a few more skeletons to make sure no other traps were present, and once he was sure, he stepped forward himself, a wide smile on his face.
"No more escape."
And as he looked at the teachers’ expressions, he could see that all of them were not only shocked, but that they also seemed slightly fearful, beads of sweat appearing on their foreheads as the reality of the situation finally sank in.
Leon didn’t care though, he placed an Abyss Teleportation rift where he was standing, and without waiting, he instantly dashed forward to kill them.
"O-Oh shit, w-we actually have to fight!" Domi shivered as he lifted his staff, trying to save himself.
"I’ll meet him head on," Alikar roared, "These players think they can challenge those blessed by the gods!"
SLASH!
Alikar swung his sword with all his strength, boosted by the talent granted to him by the God of War, but right as his blade met with Leon’s, the winner was very clear.
BAM!
Leon’s sword cut through Alikar’s with such ease he wondered if something wasn’t wrong.
But no, it wasn’t that Alikar was too weak, in fact, his strength was incredible, and even boosted by the God of War.
It was simply that the human before him was far too strong.
And as the reality of the situation settled in, Alikar could only open his mouth to utter his last words:
"What the hell are you—"
"See you in hell," Leon didn’t even let him finish before swinging his sword, cutting Alikar’s head and decapitating him.
Then he turned toward the other three, "Four more to go."
