Chapter 450: Abyss Key Shard, Servant of Dragons’ Fear
"Looks like that human is not to be underestimated," Cavin laughed as he smashed through several servants at once, his fists crackling with energy as he sent them flying through the air like ragdolls, "Good, more people to fight is always appreciated!"
The members of the Requiem Guild were already using everything they had to push back the assault of the servants of the gods.
Their coordinated attacks were carving through the divine envoys with brutal efficiency, each member fighting with extremey precision.
Even though each of them had over 20 million combat power, this didn’t mean some servants didn’t have abilities that could heavily injure them if they weren’t careful.
This forced them to stay on guard and adapt to each opponent’s unique fighting style.
On the other hand, most of the monsters had died from the several battles that had erupted across the battlefield.
Their corpses littered the ground, and some servants of the gods even only killed monsters before moving to the players and natives.
Since no more rifts appeared for now, at least until this wave was done, the flow of monsters had temporarily ceased, giving the defenders a brief respite.
Basically, this Monster Tide wasn’t even a monster tide anymore, but a Servant Tide.
The battle having shifted entirely from a war against beasts to a war against these summons.
Either way, Leon took a few seconds to observe everything that had dropped from the Servant of Abyss, his eyes scanning each item.
[Vessel of Abyss Essence: Consuming will increase Strength by 12,000, Agility by 8,000 and Spirit by 7,000]
[Sub-Talent Scroll: Abyssal Affinity (A-Level)]
[Abyss Key Shard (1/10): Gather ten of them to enter the "Abyss" and face the "God of Abyss" in the Eternal Domain.]
[Enhancement Stones x20]
[Skill Stones x10]
[Skill Book: Abyss Teleportation (Ancient)]
"Pretty damn good," Leon grinned, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction at the impressive haul, "But..."
The item that stood out among all these was the [Abyss Key Shard], which made him look at it for a few seconds, its significance and potential implications not lost on him.
Those few seconds were enough though.
"LEON!" Celeste shouted, her voice filled with urgency and fear.
Leon turned around, and he saw two servants rush toward them with full force, their forms blazing with power as they closed the distance rapidly.
It was a Servant of Dragons and Servant of Monsters, both of them radiating immense strength that made the air around them distort and crackle with energy.
’So there’s a God of Monsters, huh?’ Leon thought with a grim expression, his jaw tightening, ’Bad, very bad.’
Leon had expected to meet several other servants he had never seen, because after all, there must have been around 600 servants at the start, meaning around 200 gods, a staggering number of divine beings.
’200 Gods to defeat...’ Leon’s expression turned even grimmer, a cold weight settling in his chest as the reality of the situation sank in, ’So many, an impossible number to face alone.’
It didn’t even feel possible to beat all of them, based on the fact he still struggled against the Requiem Guild members and other enemies that were far weaker than divine beings.
The gap in power was still too wide.
’Not enough strength, need more, so much more,’ he thought, his resolve hardening as he pushed the doubt aside.
The two servants were about to reach the girls’ location, their attacks aimed directly at them with deadly intent.
At that moment though, Leon finally summoned Alphox out of his [Pet Space], the pet dragon appearing in a flash of light and gazing forward with a fierce, determined look that belied his small size.
As soon as he saw the small dragon, the Servant of Dragons shrieked back, his body recoiling as if struck by an invisible force.
His eyes were wide with primal terror, allowing Leon to swing his sword at the Servant of Monsters to stop him in his tracks before he could reach the girls.
"...W...What... A..Re... You... Doing?!" the servant of monsters spoke as he looked at the servant of dragons, his voice crackling with confusion and rage at his companion’s sudden retreat, "T...This...was...opportunity!"
The Servant of Monsters, much like the Servant of War and seemingly many other servants, had an incredibly hard time speaking.
Their words were broken and halting, as if their very voices had been damaged by their divine connections.
But the Servant of Dragons responded with perfect clarity.
"No," the servant of dragons spoke perfectly normally, though he was still panicking, his eyes wide with dread, "This is the Primordial Dragon of Chaos, the one that surpasses the ten other Primordial Dragons combined in power and potential..."
"W...Wh...At?!"
"Its impossible to beat him in a fair fight, I’ll be going somewhere else," the vessel of dragons shrugged and rushed toward other enemies.
He was unwilling to even face Alphox, his fear overriding his orders and his loyalty to his god.
’As I thought,’ Leon grinned, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction at the confirmation, ’The vessels of the God of Dragons must know about the Primordial Dragon of Chaos and its true power, enough to make them flee.’
Meanwhile, the Vessel of Monsters simply groaned as he faced the group, his form crackling with dark energy as he prepared to attack, "I...W...Will...Kill...DRAGON!"
He rushed toward Alphox at full speed, his massive frame closing the distance in an instant, aiming to cut down the baby dragon before he could do anything, his blade aimed directly at the small creature with deadly precision.
Leon didn’t hesitate, his body moving on instinct as he activated his forbidden skill, the world shifting around him.
Time Stop!
The world turned grey around them, the Vessel of Monsters frozen in mid-charge, his blade inches from Alphox, every detail of the moment suspended in time.
Leon moved with practiced precision, positioning himself and giving Alphox a silent command through their bond, his eyes fixed on the frozen servant.
The baby dragon understood immediately, his claws already in motion as he swung with the full force of his being, his tiny form crackling with power as he prepared to strike the killing blow.
Time resumed, and the attack connected with devastating force.
SLASH!
Alphox’s claws tore through the Vessel of Monsters’ form, slashing deep gashes across his chest and making him stumble backward, his body shuddering from the blow as blood sprayed across the ground.
The Vessel of Monsters roared loudly, the sound echoing across the battlefield, a cry of pain and fury that seemed to shake the very air around them, drawing the attention of nearby fighters.
But then something unexpected happened that changed the course of the battle entirely.
