Chapter 448: Servants of the Gods in the Monster Tide

Leon truly didn’t expect something like this to occur, for the gods to directly observe such an event and even send of their own servants, that was unheard of even to him in both of his lives.

And yet, he could sense that every single one of these servants was terribly bloodlusted, all of them eager to fight and help their master achieve whatever dark purpose they had in mind.

Hundreds upon hundreds of figures emerged from the portal from which they had each been called, their forms blotting out the sky like a dark cloud descending upon the battlefield.

Every single one of them appeared in groups of three, linked to their respective gods, looking down at the people beneath with expressions of cold indifference and barely concealed bloodlust.

Seeing them, most of the players and natives shook in fear, their weapons trembling in their hands, and even some of the monsters below trembled, their eyes glowing with a primal understanding of the danger above.

They knew the very instant these beings appeared that they stood no chance against such overwhelming power.

And so, the reaction around the battlefield completely shifted, the tide of battle changing in an instant.

Some of the players and natives who still fought based on the fact they could stand their ground backed away, retreating toward the relative safety of the stronghold walls, leaving only a few hundred remaining on the battlefield.

As for the monsters, they also seemed to take steps back, stopping their assault over the stronghold, their instincts telling them to flee from the greater threat.

Overall, the Monster Tide had come to a halt as everybody looked up to see what those new figures would do, the battlefield falling into an uneasy silence.

From the ground, Leon looked up and used his [Eye of Truth] to peer into their panels, and what he saw was terrifying, the numbers and talents flashing before his eyes.

And many many more, each one more powerful than the last, their combat powers ranging from 15 million to nearly 20 million, but the panels weren’t the only thing that interested Leon at all when he watched them.

Instead, the name of their "god" interested him even more, the divine titles revealing the vast pantheon that watched over them.

He saw dozens of different vessels: Spirits, Ascension, War, Magic, Time, Darkness, Abyss, Death, Nature, Light, Moon, Life, Dragon, Corruption, Avarice, Greed, Hunger, Fear, Love, Lust, Sky, Eternity, Soul and many more, each representing a different facet of divine power.

So many gods, and so many servants under each of them, a vast network of divine influence stretching across the domains.

They each could only send three, but if they had the possibility, they would have sent hundreds to wreak havoc across all higher domains, their numbers truly staggering.

But unlike what anyone thought, the moment every servant appeared, the very first thing that happened was... chaos erupted among them.

SLASH!

One of the servants of the God of War slashed at his sword at one of the servants of the Goddess of Nature, killing them instantly before they could even react.

And soon after, another servant attacked another, then another, until there was a giant battle in the air, a free-for-all between the divine envoys.

The servants who weren’t capable of flying crashed into the ground then started to fight too, their battles carving craters into the earth.

Any player or monster caught in-between was instantly killed, their bodies torn apart by the sheer force of the divine combat.

"What the hell is happening?" Violet asked as she approached Leon, her voice filled with shock, "This isn’t... what I expected...!"

Dozens of servants died one after the other as they fought an all-out war between one another, their numbers rapidly dwindling.

It didn’t even seem like they cared about the Monster Tide at all, their focus entirely on destroying each other.

And after a few minutes of pure destruction, there was a sudden noise that made everyone pause.

BOOM!

A shockwave erupted across this entire part of the Higher Domain, the force of it shaking the very foundations of the stronghold, and from the vortex, several auras could be felt, each one more powerful than anything they had ever sensed.

[What the hell are you doing?]

[Did I send you for this?]

[Kill the players and monsters, not each other!]

[You’ll get to kill some of these lowly gods’ servants later, focus on the objective!]

[The other gods are weak, we can kill them anytime, the players are the objective!]

[Wipe them all out!]

The gods had to specifically intervene, speaking to each of their servants to stop themselves from fighting, their voices booming across the battlefield.

But still, a lot of the damage had been done, going from around 600 servants to only 280 in the span of these few minutes of divine infighting.

"Perfect," Cavin grinned, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction, "As instructed, they reduced their own numbers, now we just need to get rid of the rest."

Some of the servants who remained were injured, their bodies bearing wounds from the infighting, and since they were all from different gods, even though they wouldn’t fight anymore, they certainly wouldn’t help each other.

The one beneficial thing though was that due to the presence of the servants, the monsters from the rift completely stopped their assault, frozen in place.

Any of them who got close to the servants were killed after all, as the servants didn’t discriminate between monsters and anything else that moved.

Basically, it became a free for all between the monsters, servants, and players/natives, a chaotic three-way battle with no clear sides.

One of the Servants of Void, a towering figure wreathed in shadows, decided to attack Cavin, its form flickering as it lunged toward the Oni leader with incredible speed.

Cavin didn’t even flinch, his body moving with practiced ease as he sidestepped the attack, his fist crackling with energy as he delivered a devastating blow to the servant’s skull.

The impact was so powerful that the servant’s head caved in, their body collapsing to the ground, dead before it could even register what had happened.

"You’re 10 million combat power short to get to me," Cavin laughed before rushing toward another servant and killing them with the same brutal efficiency.

The members of the Requiem Guild weren’t doing too bad either, each of them holding their own against the divine servants.

Each of them had over 20 million combat power, meaning that though the battles came close, they were still stronger than the servants of the gods, their experience and coordination giving them the edge.

’Yeah, I stand no chance against them with my current combat power,’ Leon thought though he still smiled, ’But, I think I can manage if I manage things right.’

"We’re not strong enough to defeat the servants of the gods," Celeste said with a heavy sigh, her voice filled with doubt, "What do we do?"

"Are you serious?" Leon lifted his eyebrow, a mischievous grin spreading across his face, "Celeste, they also have souls you know, if you hit them with an attack strong enough, they WILL die."

"I’m not worrying too much about Violet since she’ll manage, and Emilia, you’re much weaker than them in terms of everything else, but if any of your spells hit them, they will die or be heavily injured!"

Leon knew his group had many shortcomings, but when it came to defeating enemies like these, he knew for a fact it was possible with the right strategy.

"So," Leon grinned, his eyes burning with determination, "Lets kill those servants and get their loot!"
