Chapter 190: The Hellish Beach’s Drops, Immune to Fire?
Chapter 190: Chapter 190: The Hellish Beach’s Drops, Immune to Fire?
[Pyroman Ape Essence x5: Consuming will increase Agility by 8 and Spirit by 10.]
[Mega Pyroman Ape Essence: Consuming will increase Agility by 13 and Spirit by 15.]
[Sub-Talent Scrolls: x5 Flame Affinity (C-Level); Deep Flame Affinity (B-Level)]
[Pyroman Ape Fur x6 (Rare): +1,000 Constitution, +500 Spirit. Increased resistance to fire-related attacks.]
“Nice,” Leon nodded with a satisfied grin as he reviewed everything that had dropped, clearly pleased with the outcome of such a quick encounter.
Especially considering how effortlessly he had handled the group despite it being a [Nightmare] difficulty [Realm].
He didn’t hesitate for even a second after that.
Nom!
Without overthinking it, Leon immediately consumed all the essences one after the other, letting the energy flow through his body as his stats steadily increased, the familiar sensation of growth spreading across his limbs and mind.
Ding!
[+53 Agility, +65 Spirit.]
Even though the numbers themselves didn’t seem that impressive at first glance when compared to his already massive stats, Leon knew very well that this kind of incremental growth was exactly what made the difference in the long run.
Especially when stacked over dozens or even hundreds of similar gains, which would eventually turn into a noticeable boost.
“Still worth it,” he muttered under his breath, already thinking ahead.
He casually stored the sub-talent scrolls into his [Storage Space] without even considering using them.
They were completely unnecessary for him at this point, especially with his [Master of Elements] sub-talent already pushing his fire affinity far beyond what those scrolls could offer.
Then, his attention shifted toward the [Pyroman Ape Fur].
Without wasting time, Leon immediately began fusing them together.
Ding! Ding!
[Enhancement successful x2.]
Beep!
[Enhancement failed.]
Ding! Ding!
[Enhancement successful.]
Leon raised his eyebrows slightly as the results came in, clearly not expecting such a good outcome.
Yet he couldn’t complain in the slightest as he ended up with a significantly improved item.
[Pyroman Ape Fur +3 (Rare): +2,000 Constitution, +1,300 Spirit. High resistance to fire-related attacks.]
“That’s better,” he said calmly.
He equipped the fur around his neck right away, removing the [Toxic Snake Scales (Rare)] he had been using previously without any hesitation.
The new item was simply superior in every aspect, especially considering the environment he was currently in.
The moment the fur settled around his neck, Leon could feel a faint warmth spreading across his body.
But unlike the oppressive heat of the environment, this one felt controlled and almost comforting.
He took a moment to observe his surroundings again.
’Alright…’
The ground around him had become even more unstable than before, with cracks spreading in every direction and faint traces of lava glowing beneath the surface, while the heat in the air continued to intensify with every step he took deeper into the island.
Leon summoned the [World Map] once again, his eyes quickly scanning the layout.
The volcano still stood far in the distance, towering over everything else, its presence dominating the entire island.
“If it already looks like this from this far away…” Leon muttered thoughtfully, “then getting close to that thing is probably going to be a whole different problem.”
It became increasingly clear that reaching the boss wouldn’t be as simple as just walking straight toward it.
For most players, staying near the outer areas of the forest and farming weaker monsters would likely be the safer and more efficient option.
But Leon had no intention of doing that.
At the same time, he noticed something else on the map: both Emilia and Celeste were moving.
Emilia’s position didn’t concern him at all, as her durability and overall strength were more than enough to handle anything this place could throw at her, but Celeste…
Leon narrowed his eyes slightly.
Her [Combat Power] was around 420,000, which meant that while she was strong, she wasn’t overwhelmingly stronger than the enemies here.
That meant there was still some level of risk involved.
She wouldn’t die permanently, of course, but even a single death would result in a loss of precious time and experience points.
And in a place like this, that could slow them down significantly.
Not to mention the uncertainty regarding the quest itself.
If she died, would she still be considered part of the quest? Or would the system treat it as a failure?
That was something Leon didn’t want to test.
Then there was Pyra. This [Realm] was practically perfect for her growth.
If she could reach level 10 here, she would undergo her first evolution, which would likely boost her strength significantly and provide Celeste with even more support.
Leon quickly sent a message.
[Celestial: I’ll try to head toward you, Celeste, just make sure not to take too many risks.]
A short pause followed. Then, the reply came.
[UndyingPhoenix: I got jumped by a group of “Pyroman Apes”, but I’m completely immune to fire!]
Leon blinked once. Then… realization hit him.
“Oh, of course.’
If Celeste was naturally immune to fire, whether because of her race or her talent, then the majority of the enemies in this [Hellish Beach] wouldn’t be able to harm her at all using their primary attacks.
That changed things completely.
It meant that only physical attacks or stronger abilities could pose a real threat to her.
Leon let out a small breath.
“I guess I underestimated her a bit,” he admitted quietly.
Still, even with that in mind, he had no intention of leaving her alone for too long.
At the very least, meeting up again would make everything more efficient.
’Those affinity sub-talents are going to be perfect for her,’ he thought with a slight grin, already planning ahead, ’I should collect as many as I can.’
Leon shifted his focus back to the present. His expression hardened slightly as he looked forward.
Celeste and Emilia were moving. So was he. Eventually, their paths would cross again.
He made sure to keep the [World Map] open as he continued forward, watching as more of the greyed-out areas slowly revealed themselves with each step he took, gradually uncovering the true scale of the island.
It was massive. Large enough that fully mapping it out would likely take an entire day, if not more.
But that didn’t bother him.
As long as he knew where he was, and where the others were, that was more than enough.
Everything else was secondary.
“Time to farm properly,” Leon said with a faint grin.
Before long, he came across another clearing. This one was far more intense than the previous area.
The trees were completely engulfed in flames, the ground beneath them cracked and glowing, while the air itself shimmered with heat.
And in the center of it all… More enemies.
Several [Pyroman Apes], along with a group of [Fire Hobgoblins], all gathered together as if guarding the area.
Leon’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. He simply raised his staff.
Torrent of Lightning!
The air around him began to crackle violently as energy gathered above, the sky darkening slightly as multiple lightning strikes formed in an instant before descending toward the enemies.
ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!
The strikes hit with overwhelming force, spreading across the entire clearing and instantly eliminating most of the weaker monsters, while the rest were left stunned and barely standing.
“GRRRAAH!”
The [Fire Hobgoblins] were the only ones that managed to endure the attack to some extent, their bodies resisting the damage as they broke free from the stun with visible effort.
Their skin, glowing faintly with heat, made them far more durable than the others.
Leon narrowed his eyes slightly.
’A good armor piece might drop from them,’ he thought, already considering the possibilities, ’Celeste could definitely use an upgrade if it’s better than what she’s wearing.’
Even in the middle of combat, Leon was not only thinking about himself, but also his companions.
’I also wanted to test my new ability…’
Leon adjusted his grip on his staff slightly. Then, without hesitation, he activated another skill.
Vines of Torment!
