Chapter 148: The God-Rank Assessment’s Rewards

Chapter 148: Chapter 148: The God-Rank Assessment’s Rewards

Ding!

[Congratulations, Celestial #200, you have proven yourself in the God-Rank assessment.]

“…Huh.”

At first glance, the message looked completely normal.

It was the standard system notification that appeared after clearing a trial.

Anyone else might have simply smiled, accepted it, and moved on without giving it another thought.

But Leon’s eyes narrowed slightly as he reread the line.

It did not say [Celestial] or call him by name.

It specifically addressed him as “Celestial #200.”

That detail was small, almost insignificant on the surface.

However, the system never wasted words. If it chose to call him by that specific identifier instead of the general one, then it meant something.

Leon stored that thought away in the back of his mind.

He did not yet know what it meant, but he was certain it would matter eventually.

The chamber around him felt different now.

The pressure that had once weighed heavily in the air was gone.

The danger had disappeared along with the enemies.

The [Altar of Life] stood at the center of the room, glowing brighter than it ever had before.

The ten souls he had sacrificed to it were gone. Consumed.

Their power now completely fueled the altar, and the blue light radiating from it was steady and intense.

Ding!

[You have unlocked 3 rewards.]

“Nice!”

Leon’s lips curled into a grin.

After everything he had just endured, he would have been disappointed if the rewards were mediocre.

A God-Rank assessment was not something even the strongest players could even dream of clearing.

If the system acknowledged that, then the rewards had to match the difficulty.

Before approaching the altar, he checked his [Storage Space]. He had felt several items appear inside it during the final moments of the trial.

When he opened the panel, his eyes widened slightly.

Nine identical items were sitting there.

[Tower of Souls Fragment (Mythical) x9]

They were exactly like the fragment he had taken from Ming Yolen.

That meant… He now had all ten.

Leon calmly reached into his storage and pulled them out one by one.

The fragments floated in his palm, each one radiating a faint gray glow.

The moment the last piece appeared—

Ding!

[Do you wish to fuse the “Tower of Souls Fragments”?]

“Knew it,” Leon muttered with a grin. “Yes.”

Fwoosh!

The fragments shot into the air instantly. They began circling one another, rotating faster and faster as gray light poured out from each piece.

Cracks of energy connected them like threads, pulling them together.

The rotation intensified. The light grew blinding.

Leon shielded his eyes for a brief second, and then, the light faded.

Floating before him was a single object.

Ding!

[You have acquired the “Tower of Souls Token.”]

[Tower of Souls Token (Mythical): Allows the user to enter the “Tower of Souls.” No matter what you do, do not do it.]

“Hm.”

Leon stared at the description.

It was another token, similar to the [Farlands Token] he had obtained in the past.

That token had allowed him to enter the [Farlands], and from there he had gained the [World Map], one of the most valuable tools in his possession.

The warning attached to this one, however, was far more direct.

“No matter what you do, do not do it.”

That only made him more curious.

“The [Farlands] gave me the [World Map],” Leon thought with a faint smile. “If the [Tower of Souls] is even more dangerous… then the reward inside must be even greater.”

And there was something else waiting in there: the [Lord of Souls].

For now, though, he calmly stored the token back into his [Storage Space].

He would enter the tower eventually, but he needed to fight it and be strong enough first.

After that, he stepped forward and approached the [Altar of Life].

The structure pulsed gently, its blue glow reflecting off the stone floor.

At its center floated a small orb of pure azure light, swirling slowly as if it were alive.

Leon inhaled deeply. Then he extended his hand.

FWOOSH!

The moment his fingers touched the orb, it dissolved into pure energy and rushed into his body.

Pain exploded through him instantly.

“Argh—!”

Leon dropped to his knees as blue cracks spread across his skin, mirroring the fractures carved into the altar itself.

The energy surged through his veins like lightning, burning and freezing at the same time.

His muscles trembled. His bones felt as if they were being reforged.

The pulsing continued for several long seconds before gradually fading away.

The cracks disappeared. The pain subsided.

Ding!

[Reward #1: All of your sub-talents will be evolved by one rank, up to a maximum of S-Rank.]

“…DAMN!”

Leon was actually shocked of such a reward as the first one, as it was simply too incredible!

He possessed an unusually high number of sub-talents after all!

For him, it was borderline ridiculous. He immediately opened his panel.

[Sub-Talents: Super Constitution Enhancement (B-Level), Supreme Strength Enhancement (S-Level), Embodiment of Darkness (A-Level), Super Agility Enhancement (C-Level), Supreme Spirit Enhancement (S-Level), Intermediate Necromancy (C-Level), Poison Resistance (C-Level), Blood Monarch (S-Level), Master of Elements (SS-Level), Light Affinity (C-Level)]

Out of all these, six could be evolved. The S-Rank cap was unfortunate, but Leon understood the reasoning.

Without a limit, talents like [Master of Elements] would have become something beyond reason.

Even so, this was already more than generous.

Ding! Ding!

[You have upgraded “Super Constitution Enhancement (B-Level)” to “Mega Constitution Enhancement (A-Level).”]

[You have upgraded “Super Agility Enhancement (C-Level)” to “Super Agility Enhancement (B-Level).”]

Leon felt the changes immediately.

His body grew heavier and lighter at the same time, denser with strength yet more responsive to movement.

[Mega Constitution Enhancement (A-Level): Permanently increases constitution by 100%.]

[Super Agility Enhancement (B-Level): Permanently increases agility by 75%.]

His [Combat Power] had undoubtedly risen.

He then moved to the elemental sub-talent.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

[You have upgraded “Light Affinity (C-Level)” to “Deep Light Affinity (B-Level).”]

[You have upgraded “Poison Resistance (C-Level)” to “Strong Poison Resistance (B-Level).”]

[You have upgraded “Embodiment of Darkness (A-Level)” to “King of Darkness (S-Level).”]

Leon skimmed past the first two. Their upgrades were straightforward improvements.

But when he reached the third, he slowed down.

[King of Darkness (S-Level): The shadows bow to you and follow your will, as your being fuses with their power. You may use them for specific purposes. Shadow-related attacks will deal almost no damage to you.]

“Nice,” Leon murmured.

He could already feel the shadows in the chamber reacting to him.

Finally, the last eligible sub-talent activated.

Ding!

[You have upgraded “Intermediate Necromancy (C-Level)” to “Advanced Necromancy (B-Level).”]

Leon’s eyes sharpened instantly. This was the one he cared about the most.

Fwoosh!

The new panel unfolded before him.

[Advanced Necromancy (B-Level): You are an advanced necromancer, able to summon undead skeletons to aid you.]

[Skeleton Summon Limit: 25.]

[Each skeleton has 60% of your combat power (stats).]

[Current Undead Types: Undead Skeleton, Undead Mage.]

[You can only summon one skeleton every minute after their death.]

[Only the master can interact with his skeletons.]

“Holy hell…”

The improvements were massive.

His summon limit had increased from ten to twenty-five.

Their power had jumped significantly. The cooldown after death had been reduced.

And most importantly, a new type: [Undead Mage.]

Leon could not hide his grin.

Upgrading necromancy-type talents was notoriously difficult. It required encountering another being with similar abilities, and those were extremely rare.

Now he understood why the progression was so restricted.

This was powerful. Very powerful.

“I wonder what spells they can cast,” he thought.

That would require testing later.

Because as soon as the upgrades finished, another notification appeared.

Ding!

[Reward #2: You have received the “Divine Answer” skill.]

“Oh?”

Leon immediately opened his skill panel.

[Divine Answer (???): You may ask a question and the “Heavenly One” will answer with 100% truth and certainty (3/3 uses left).]

[When all uses are consumed, the skill will be destroyed.]

Leon exhaled slowly.

Information could change everything. Used wisely, this skill could alter the course of his entire future.

Used poorly, it would be wasted forever. He would not rush this.

There were too many things he wanted to know.

The truth behind the system. The Celestials. The reason he was “#200.”

But those questions required careful thought. He closed the panel for now.

Then came the final notification.

The last reward, and the most powerful one.

Ding!

[Reward #3: You have received the “Life Vessel” title.]
