Chapter 137: Meeting With The Heavenly One, Exploring Myriad Race City
Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Meeting With The Heavenly One, Exploring Myriad Race City
“Heavenly One…?”
Leon could not stop those words from slipping out of his mouth.
The existence of the [Heavenly One] was something he had never truly understood.
In fact, almost no one did.
Across the entirety of [Eternal Ascension], everybody, even gods, spoke his name with uncertainty.
The only confirmed truth was simple and absolute: he was the strongest being in [Eternal Ascension].
Not one god could rival him. Even all of them combined.
Everything operated under rules he had established.
The gods themselves were bound by them. And no one had ever dared to question that authority openly.
Fwoosh!
A brilliant light tore through the darkness around Leon. It was strangely familiar.
The sensation reminded him of the very first time players were summoned into [Eternal Ascension].
Out of that radiance, a single figure emerged.
Leon narrowed his eyes, trying to make sense of what he was seeing, but it was impossible.
The shape standing before him could not be clearly defined.
It had no distinct face, no clear body, no edges that could truly be traced.
It was there, undeniably present, yet impossible to describe.
If someone asked Leon later what it looked like, he would not know what to say.
He had a strange feeling that no one had ever seen the [Heavenly One]’s true form.
What stood before him now was likely only an appearance adjusted so that “lesser” beings could perceive something instead of nothing.
If he had to describe it in the simplest way possible, he would say this: it felt like pure power given vague shape.
Even without visible eyes, Leon felt its gaze settle on him.
The pressure was not crushing, nor was it suffocating. It was simply overwhelming in a quiet way.
The figure did not speak. It simply stared at him, as though evaluating him from the inside out.
“Why did you bring me here?” Leon asked calmly.
There was one final thing he knew about the [Heavenly One].
Throughout all of history, he had never interfered in the affairs of [Eternal Ascension] unless someone broke the rules he had set.
He did not play favorites. He did not rescue the weak or punish the strong out of personal desire.
He acted only when the balance he defined was disrupted.
If a god overstepped its authority, he acted.
If someone reached [Slayer X], a title that defied the natural order, he acted.
Other than that, he remained silent and unseen. So why now?
[Not strong enough…]
The voice echoed directly in Leon’s mind. The figure tilted what looked like its head.
[…But perhaps you will surprise me.]
Leon frowned slightly, confused by the statement. Before he could even begin to form a question—
BOOM!
In less than a heartbeat, the [Heavenly One] vanished from his distant position and appeared directly in front of Leon.
There had been no movement he could track.
One moment the figure stood far away; the next it was inches from him.
Leon’s body did not even have time to react.
Now that the figure was so close, he could barely make out more details.
Two dark dots where eyes might be. A faint outline of a nose. A mouth curved into a subtle, almost amused smile.
[This is not my true form, in case you were wondering. My real one is… overwhelming, some might say.]
“I know,” Leon replied without hesitation.
He had felt enough power from this incomplete manifestation to understand that the true form would likely shatter weaker beings just by existing near them.
In the next instant, the [Heavenly One] returned to his original position as if nothing had happened.
Then he snapped his fingers.
RUMBLE!
The void shook violently as a massive golden altar rose from below.
It emerged slowly at first, then faster, its structure gleaming with divine brilliance.
Intricate carvings shimmered across its surface, symbols that seemed older than the gods themselves.
Leon stared at it in silence.
[I know this is only the beginning… but do not disappoint me like the rest of them, Celestial.]
The word lingered in the air.
Leon’s eyes shifted back to the towering altar.
[This is the “Ascension Altar.”]
[Unfortunately, you are not worthy of it yet.]
Before Leon could respond—
Snap! BOOM!
The altar exploded into fragments of golden light.
The force of the blast pushed against Leon, forcing him to raise his arm to shield his face.
The pieces dissolved into nothingness, leaving only empty space behind.
[Let us meet again another time, Celestial.]
And just like that, the presence vanished. The void returned to silence.
Leon lowered his arm slowly. He had known from the start that the [Heavenly One] would not attack him.
There had been no killing intent.
Still though, Leon was unsure if the [Heavenly One] was a “good” or “bad” person.
“No…” Leon muttered, shaking his head. “He’s neither.”
The [Heavenly One] did not take sides.
As long as the rules he established were followed, he did not interfere.
He was… neutral. Completely and absolutely neutral.
And yet, this time, he had appeared without a clear violation.
He had spoken directly to Leon.
’Ascension Altar… the rest of them… disappointed…’
The words echoed in his thoughts.
Who were “the rest”? Other Celestials? Other beings who had reached similar heights?
Had they failed to reach whatever that altar represented?
Before he could think further, the void trembled again.
Darkness swallowed him.
…
Fwoosh!
Leon opened his eyes. Instead of endless void, he saw a wooden ceiling.
He was back in the inn where he had been resting.
He did not know the exact time. He did not particularly care.
His gaze immediately shifted to the panel floating before him.
[Domain Travel Cooldown: 8 Hours 35 Minutes 47 Seconds.]
“So I slept for about fifteen hours,” Leon muttered.
He stretched slightly. His body felt refreshed, far better than before.
The exhaustion from using [Oblivion Meteor] had eased, though he could still sense that casting it again so soon would push him dangerously close to his limits.
Still, eight hours of freedom was not a small amount of time. He stood up.
It would have been better if Emilia or one of his companions had been here.
Exploring alone was less interesting, but it was not unpleasant.
Leon left the inn and stepped into the lively streets of [Myriad Race City].
The city was as vibrant as ever. Eventually, he found himself near the [Myriad Arena Gate].
The plaza around it was packed with players, just like the arena in his own domain.
Leon paused. A thought crossed his mind.
He stepped forward, intending to pass through the gate.
But…
BEEP!
[You are not from here and cannot participate in the “Myriad Arena” of “Lower Domain #78.”]
“Oh.”
He blinked once.
Unlike the [Higher Domain], where travel restrictions were minimal, the [Lower Domain] still separated its arenas.
It would have been interesting to test himself against players from other lower domains, but the system clearly did not allow it.
With a small shrug, Leon turned away. He eventually entered a nearby restaurant.
He ordered far more food than a normal person would reasonably consume.
Plates stacked up quickly, meat dishes, stews, roasted vegetables, sweet pastries.
After everything he had been through, he felt justified.
He ate in silence, enjoying the rare calm.
Afterward, he wandered through the city without a specific goal.
He did not approach anyone.
Because if anyone checked his status, they would see his [ID].
’Wish there a way to hide it.’
Luckily no one would know the name in the [Higher Domain].
As he walked, fragments of conversation drifted through the air.
“Wait, what? The [Shadow Assassin Guild] was destroyed?”
“Yeah, a giant meteor fell out of nowhere. Wiped them out completely.”
“That’s insane… but honestly, maybe it’s for the best. They killed so many people.”
The whispers spread through the streets like wildfire.
The [Shadow Assassin Guild] had been infamous.
If you had enough money, they would eliminate almost anyone.
Morality had never been part of their business model.
And yet, they had not even been given the chance to react.
Leon had erased them in an instant.
He continued walking, hands in his pockets, expression calm.
Hours passed quietly. Eventually, a familiar sound rang in his ears.
Ding!
[Domain Travel Cooldown: 2 Seconds.]
Ding!
[Domain Travel Cooldown: 1 Second.]
Leon’s lips curved slightly.
Ding!
[Domain Travel’s cooldown has ended. You may use it again.]
“Nice… it’s your turn now, [Church of Light],’ Leon grinned.
