Chapter 105: Mist Summon, Waiting In The Land of Mist

Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Mist Summon, Waiting In The Land of Mist

[Mist Summon: 0%]

The moment Leon and Emilia stepped into the [Land of Mist], the same panel appeared before both of them.

It hovered quietly in their vision, simple yet ominous.

This was the core mechanic of the [Land of Mist], one that countless players cursed and feared.

The rule was straightforward, yet cruel.

The percentage would continuously increase at a fixed rate of 1% every fifteen seconds. Killing a monster reduced the value by 10%.

In other words, anyone inside the zone had to kill at least one monster every two and a half minutes just to maintain balance.

Fail to do so… And the consequences were absolute.

If the percentage ever reached 100%, the [Crystal Mist Guardian] would be summoned directly to the player’s location.

Once that happened, escape was impossible.

The area would be sealed, a domain formed, and the unlucky target would be forced into a direct confrontation.

Most died. Even players at level 50, the upper limit of the [Lower Domain], were routinely wiped out.

The guardian was simply too strong. But as always in [Eternal Ascension], danger came with reward.

Defeating the [Crystal Mist Guardian] granted a single, priceless item. The [Stronghold Crystal].

That alone was the reason this place still attracted challengers despite its terrifying reputation.

And so…

“So,” Emilia said, glancing around the endless fog, her eyes shining with excitement, “are we heading somewhere specific?”

“No,” Leon replied calmly, shaking his head. “This time… we just wait.”

“…Huh?”

Emilia blinked and looked at him again, clearly confused.

Leon didn’t elaborate right away.

Normally, players entered the [Land of Mist] with a clear goal: hunt monsters nonstop, keep the [Mist Summon] value low, and avoid ever triggering the guardian.

Leon wanted the exact opposite. He had come here to fight the [Crystal Mist Guardian].

That was the fastest way to clear the S-Level quest, obtain the [Stronghold Crystal], and move on to the [Secret Realm].

There was no reason to waste time farming weaker monsters.

So instead of moving deeper into the mist… Leon and Emilia simply stood still.

The fog swirled lazily around them, thick and cold, muffling sound and sight alike.

After about a minute, Leon glanced at the panel again.

[Mist Summon: 4%]

“This is going to take a while,” he muttered with a quiet sigh.

Since there was nothing to do but wait, Leon took the opportunity to relax slightly and review everything he had gained so far.

He opened his status panel, carefully reading through it as Emilia stood nearby, occasionally glancing around the mist.

“I hope nothing too strange shows up before the guardian,” Emilia said lightly, smiling. “Though honestly, I’m pretty confident. Even the [Higher Domain] shouldn’t be that scary at this point.”

Leon scratched his chin thoughtfully.

“Well…” he said slowly, “I wouldn’t go that far.”

Emilia tilted her head. “Really?”

“There are some extremely powerful beings up there,” Leon replied.

That was all he said. He didn’t mention the [Eternal Domain].

He didn’t talk about the gods, or the monsters that rivaled them, or the players who had survived long enough to stand at that level.

Because that place… That place was something else entirely.

Most players who reached level 100, the maximum of the [Higher Domain], never advanced further.

This included Eleonore, David and the others, as well as Leon for a good amount of time. They chose to stay behind.

Once someone entered the [Eternal Domain], there was no return.

And anyone who wasn’t fully prepared died almost instantly.

To put it simply, even a perfectly trained level 100 player could become nothing more than fodder there.

That was where gods walked freely. Where their servants roamed.

Where the strongest beings and most terrifying players in all of [Eternal Ascension] gathered.

It was a world that devoured the unworthy. That was why Leon needed more strength.

Far more than he currently possessed.

And it was also why he needed to erase every individual who would eventually align themselves with the gods.

Those people didn’t just gain overwhelming power.

They fed their gods with faith, devotion, and servitude, making them even stronger.

’Still…’ Leon sighed inwardly, ’I have time.’

There was no need to rush recklessly.

He opened his status panel, letting the familiar information fill his vision.

[Reputation Points: 225]

A wide grin spread across Leon’s face as he took it all in.

Even knowing what he would eventually face, this growth was undeniable. Ridiculous, even.

At level 27, his combat power already surpassed what many level 40 or 50 players could achieve.

And this wasn’t even close to his peak. After closing the panel, Leon shifted his focus to his equipment.

Every piece he wore had been carefully chosen, upgraded, and enhanced.

[Darkness Fur Boots +4 (Epic): +750 Agility, +400 Constitution.]

[Shadow Gloves (Epic): +500 Attack, +300 Strength, +150 Agility.]

Leon nodded to himself. Every piece was strong. Individually powerful. Together, terrifying.

’Still,’ he thought, ’My boots, gloves and necklaces could be better.’

Once he found higher-tier replacements, he would upgrade them without hesitation.

Finally, he checked the items bound directly to his soul.

[Blood Heart (Unique Special Item)] and [Primordial Dragon of Chaos (Unhatched)]

Just those two alone would drive countless players mad with envy.

All things considered, Leon was extremely satisfied. Now, all that remained was waiting.

[Mist Summon: 34%]

The fog grew thicker, the air heavier. Leon closed his eyes briefly, letting his thoughts wander.

[Mist Summon: 75%]

Emilia remained relaxed, though she could hear Leon murmuring faintly under his breath.

“Farlands… assassin guild… church of light… third assessment… danger… higher domains…”

The words were fragmented. Incomplete.

But the seriousness behind them was unmistakable. She didn’t interrupt him.

And then, after exactly twenty-five minutes.

Ding!

[Mist Summon: 100%]

The bar flared brilliantly, filling completely before flashing with a sharp silver light.

Fwish! Ding!

[The “Crystal Mist Guardian” has appeared. Pray for your lives.]

BOOM!

The mist around them exploded outward as the fog condensed violently, forming a sealed arena.

The ground trembled. The air screamed.

And from within the swirling mist… A massive silhouette emerged.

“More souls to add to my collection~” a voice echoed, distorted and amused. “Oh, I love these stupid players.”

A/N

I felt like this was the best way to show Leon’s entire status panel :).

Do note it will not be shown often and instead will happen only once in a while.
