Chapter 101: Chapter101-The Plan Begins

"This..."

"He’s already grown this strong?"

Of course he remembered Endbringer.

On the very first day after the server opened.

He had led fifty Gray Ledger elites to intercept him.

Only for every last one of them to be wiped out by a single person.

Back then, he could still comfort himself with excuses like "early-game class imbalance" or "the other guy just got lucky."

But now.

The first kill of a Lv50 Citybreaker Tier BOSS.

He didn’t even know what a BOSS of that tier looked like.

Unit Three Leader fell silent for several seconds.

Then suddenly realized something.

"But what does that have to do with us attacking Black Rose?"

The Guild Leader glanced at him.

"There’s only one thing I can tell you."

"According to our current intelligence, Endbringer’s relationship with Black Rose isn’t simple."

"As for why Black Rose absolutely has to be destroyed, that’s the Board’s decision."

He paused.

"Our job is simply to carry it out."

Unit Three Leader’s expression turned serious.

"Understood."

He turned to leave.

Just as he reached the door.

The Guild Leader’s voice came from behind him again.

"One more thing."

Unit Three Leader stopped.

"If Endbringer appears, don’t engage him on your own."

"Notify me immediately."

Unit Three Leader was visibly taken aback.

But quickly nodded.

"Understood, Guild Leader."

With that.

He walked out of the command post.

The Guild Leader turned his attention back to the battlefield projection.

The area representing Black Rose was shrinking little by little.

Yet there was little relief in his eyes.

Endbringer.

That name.

Was becoming more and more troublesome.

...

Dark Realm.

Night City.

Compared to a few hours ago.

The atmosphere throughout the city had completely changed.

The number of patrols on the streets had multiplied several times over.

Temporary checkpoints had been established at numerous intersections.

Black smoke that had yet to fully disperse still drifted above the City Lord Mansion.

From time to time, collapsed buildings and ground split apart by blade waves could still be seen.

And news of that battle.

Had already spread throughout the entire city.

"Did you hear? The City Lord Mansion’s treasury got robbed!"

"Of course I heard. Who doesn’t know by now?"

"I heard that human emptied the entire treasury!"

"No way. That treasury’s huge. How could one person carry everything out?"

"Who told you there was only one? Maybe there were dozens of them!"

A Dark Race member nearby lowered his voice.

"The version I heard was different."

"They say there really was only one."

"And even Lord Grey personally couldn’t stop him from escaping."

The people around him instantly fell silent.

A moment later.

Someone instinctively glanced around.

"Keep your voice down."

"Lord Grey is furious right now. If he hears you, do you have a death wish?"

"I’m just stating the facts..."

"Then shut up about the facts too!"

Elsewhere.

Two Dark Realm merchants were huddled together as well.

"I don’t even dare open my shop right now."

"Who knows if that human is still somewhere in the city?"

"I heard he’s insanely tall. More than three meters, with human tattoos all over his face."

"Bullshit. Why did I hear it was a woman?"

"Someone saw her with their own eyes. Definitely a woman. She even had three eyes."

"..."

Among the crowd.

A hunched old man in a dark green robe slowly shuffled past with a walking stick.

Listening to the rumors become more ridiculous by the second.

John nearly burst out laughing.

Sure enough.

No matter the race.

Gossip always ended up the same once it spread far enough.

He had started out as a human young man around 1.8 meters tall.

And by now.

He had somehow become a three-meter-tall, three-eyed, tattoo-covered woman.

Who knew what he’d turn into if the rumors spread for another two days?

Still.

These Dark Race members probably couldn’t imagine it even in their dreams.

The brutal, dangerous human they were talking about—the one who had robbed the treasury and escaped from Grey himself.

Was mixed right into the crowd at this very moment.

Even brushing shoulders with them as he walked past.

John swept his gaze around.

And silently added in his heart.

Keep talking.

In a little while, one skill will send all of you packing.

Of course.

Now wasn’t the time yet.

He raised his head.

His gaze passed over the distant buildings.

Toward the center of Night City.

The five legion teleportation arrays were still operating quietly.

Large numbers of soldiers stood guard around them.

And at the very center.

That figure more than five meters tall was still sitting there.

Grey.

John didn’t use [Hunter’s Eye] again.

He’d already learned his lesson once.

There was no need to provoke the man again.

As for Aya.

Before they had even approached the teleportation arrays.

John had already stationed her at the top of a nearby tower.

It offered an excellent field of view.

All five teleportation arrays and several surrounding main roads could be seen from there.

Her task was simple.

Watch.

The moment she spotted anything unusual.

She was to notify him immediately.

John remained among the crowd.

Waiting for Rosaline to make her move.

Time slowly passed.

Ten minutes.

Twenty minutes.

John glanced at the remaining quest time.

He couldn’t afford to wait much longer.

Just then.

Something finally changed near the teleportation arrays.

A Dark Realm soldier hurried over to Grey.

Dropped to one knee.

And quietly reported something John couldn’t hear.

Grey’s previously closed eyes slowly opened.

The next second.

He stood up.

That single movement alone.

Was enough to make the soldiers chatting nearby fall silent almost immediately.

Grey lowered his head and asked two questions.

The soldier nodded.

Then.

Grey slung his two massive blades onto his back.

And left the center of the teleportation array area without hesitation.

His destination—

The gates of Night City.

John narrowed his eyes slightly.

There it was.

Looks like Rosaline had started moving on her end.

Grey didn’t appear suspicious.

Before long, he disappeared down the main road with a squad of soldiers.

John didn’t act immediately.

He kept waiting.

One minute.

Two minutes.

Only after fully confirming that Grey had left the teleportation array area.

Did John slowly withdraw from the crowd.

He entered an empty alley.

Raised a hand.

And dispelled his disguise.

His hunched body straightened once again.

The deadwood walking stick transformed back into the black-and-gold Void Staff.

John looked into the distance.

All five teleportation arrays.

Were within his line of sight.

And they weren’t far away.

The corner of John’s mouth curled upward.

He slowly raised his staff.

Black-and-gold magic began gathering at its tip.

Once this attack landed.

All five teleportation arrays.

Would be destroyed together.

The smile on John’s face abruptly vanished.

But his movements didn’t pause in the slightest.

He raised the Void Staff high.

Blazing flames instantly erupted from the tip!

"Fire Dragon!"

ROAR—!!!

A deafening dragon roar thundered across Night City.

[Projectile Split ×4 triggered!]

The flames behind John split apart madly, transforming into sixteen enormous Fire Dragons in the blink of an eye.

Their wings spread wide.

The scorching heat instantly warped the surrounding air.

The next second.

All sixteen Fire Dragons charged toward the five legion teleportation arrays at once!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM—!

Their massive flaming bodies crossed over one another.

Sixteen blazing crimson trails nearly stretched across the entire teleportation array district.

The black stone covering the buildings along their path rapidly turned red from the heat, while even the ground beneath their feet trembled beneath the violent surge of magic.

The sky above Night City.

Was almost completely dyed red by fire!
