One Piece: I Upgraded the Strongest Man in the World
Chapter 84: [1] A Way to Kill Whitebeard!
Seeing Kaido’s reaction, Jack immediately lowered his head and stopped talking.
He had only offered a suggestion.
He hadn’t expected it to provoke such a response.
"Sorry, Kaido-sama, I just—"
"Enough."
Kaido waved a hand, cutting him off.
"I understand what you’re trying to say. The situation is just more complicated than that."
"What we need is a better way to deal with Whitebeard—not simply a plan to wear down his stamina."
"Heh heh... Kaido-sama, I have an idea."
Who’s-Who stepped forward.
His voice was somewhat hoarse, but it carried unmistakable confidence.
His body was still wrapped in bandages, and his injuries looked severe. However, as a Zoan User, his recovery speed was exceptional. As long as the wound wasn’t fatal, he could recover quickly.
Unfortunately, the two chuckles he had just let out tugged at his injuries, causing a streak of blood to run from the corner of his mouth.
"Cough... cough..."
Who’s-Who couldn’t help coughing.
Every cough seemed to remind him of the pain still raging throughout his body.
He quickly waved a hand to indicate that he was fine, trying to hide his weakness.
A real man wouldn’t make a fuss over a few injuries.
At least, that was how he saw it.
Yet deep down, his hatred for Whitebeard had reached its peak.
The man responsible for his current miserable state was none other than Whitebeard himself.
If not for that monster, he would still be in perfect condition.
The others couldn’t help but feel nervous watching him force himself to continue.
Ignoring their reactions, Who’s-Who looked around the room before getting straight to the point.
"The Whitebeard Pirates rarely act alone."
"Even during surprise raids, they always bring a few members who can move quickly."
"This battle was a perfect example."
Jack immediately nodded.
"That’s true. Those bastards run ridiculously fast!"
Who’s-Who ignored the interruption and continued looking directly at Kaido.
"It’s simple."
"The next time they come, we capture one or two of Whitebeard’s crew."
"Whitebeard treats every crewmate as family."
"With his personality, there’s no way he’d abandon his family and escape alone."
"As long as we hold his people hostage, Whitebeard will be forced to stay."
"And once that happens..."
"Every problem solves itself."
As the words sank in, the eyes of everyone present gradually lit up.
Of course!
Such a simple and effective solution.
How had they failed to think of it before?
A confident smile appeared on Who’s-Who’s face.
At that moment, his gaze turned especially cold.
It was as if he could already see victory within reach.
"Once Whitebeard’s stamina is exhausted..."
"It’ll be his death day."
"Hahahahaha!"
The gloomy expression on Kaido’s face instantly vanished.
He burst into loud laughter.
The sound was filled with excitement and madness.
At last, he had found a way to deal with Whitebeard.
"That’s right!"
"Given Whitebeard’s personality, he’d never abandon one of his crew members and run away."
Kaido’s eyes gleamed with excitement.
He felt as though he had finally grasped Whitebeard’s greatest weakness.
As long as they captured one of Whitebeard’s men, they could restrict Whitebeard’s movements and continuously drain his stamina.
"As long as Whitebeard can’t escape, I can keep wearing him down!"
His battle spirit surged.
After all, Whitebeard was simultaneously using three Devil Fruit powers.
The stamina consumption alone had to be several times greater than that of an ordinary person.
As long as they kept attacking relentlessly and never allowed him a chance to recover, the moment his stamina ran dry would be the moment he died.
Kaido was overjoyed.
How had he never thought of taking one or two of Whitebeard’s crewmates hostage?
Not only would it keep Whitebeard under control, but it would also continuously erode both his stamina and his willpower.
Brilliant!
Absolutely brilliant!
Kaido firmly believed that if they followed this plan, they could finally kill Whitebeard.
As his excitement grew, he glanced around the room.
Then he noticed something.
Someone was missing.
After thinking about it carefully, he realized he hadn’t seen Yamato even once since the meeting began.
"Damn brat..."
"Where’s Yamato?"
Black Maria shook her head.
"I haven’t seen Yamato."
"She’s probably off playing somewhere."
Bao Huang also shook his head.
"We couldn’t find Yamato either."
"She’s probably hiding again."
Kaido frowned.
The answer clearly didn’t satisfy him, but he didn’t pursue the matter further.
"Forget it."
"She can’t leave Onigashima anyway."
Then he turned toward the Tobi Roppo .
"Listen carefully."
"The next time Whitebeard comes, your only mission is to capture one of his crew members."
"Alive."
"I don’t care who it is."
"Even if all of you have to gang up on a single target, you will capture someone alive."
"Understood?"
"Yes, Kaido-sama!"
"Understood!"
"Leave it to us!"
The mood in the room instantly improved.
Having finally found a solution, Kaido’s expression relaxed for the first time in days.
He even decided to hold a grand banquet to celebrate.
Then—
Jack suddenly muttered from the side.
"Well... the plan sounds great, but..."
"When exactly is Whitebeard coming back?"
Kaido: "..."
Who’s-Who: "..."
Black Maria: "..."
At that moment, every smile in the room froze.
The question echoed repeatedly in their minds.
That’s right.
When is Whitebeard coming back?
It was like a bucket of cold water dumped directly onto their excitement.
What if Whitebeard didn’t show up again for six months?
Or even a year?
Were they supposed to stay on high alert the entire time?
The mere thought made everyone uneasy.
Maintaining that level of vigilance for months on end would be exhausting—not only physically, but mentally as well.
People might genuinely lose their minds.
Kaido’s expression darkened again.
His gaze turned icy as he shot Jack a vicious glare.
The look was so sharp that it seemed capable of piercing straight through him.
Realizing he’d said the wrong thing, Jack immediately shrank back and took two cautious steps away.
Despite his irritation, Kaido remained silent.
Because as annoying as Jack’s words were...
They were true.
He had finally come up with a plan.
But what if Whitebeard simply never showed up?
Just then, a voice spoke up.
"Kaido-sama."
"I have an idea."
