One Piece: I Upgraded the Strongest Man in the World
Chapter 47: Trash Enel, Come Out and Pay Your Respects to Jozu!
"Those utility-type Dials were collected by the locals long ago. Finding even a single Impact Dial was already incredibly lucky."
Ace’s face immediately showed a trace of disappointment.
He had thought he’d be able to find a Reject Dial this time, but it seemed it wouldn’t be that easy.
Ron pointed ahead and said,
"That’s Angel Island up ahead. If there’s something you want, just buy it. It’ll be a lot easier than searching for it."
Following Ron’s finger, Ace looked toward the distant island.
Bathed in sunlight, Angel Island looked exceptionally beautiful.
Its buildings were neatly arranged, and the streets bustled with activity.
"We’re here already?" Ace said as he looked ahead.
The main avenue of Angel Island had already come into view.
The people there dressed much like those from the Blue Sea. The only noticeable difference was the pair of small white wings growing from their backs.
"Are these people really angels?" Jozu scratched his head, utterly baffled.
Marco stepped forward and added,
"These natives might become a bit of a problem, yoi."
Ron shook his head.
"Don’t worry about them for now. They’ll be useful sooner or later."
"Heh, let’s find that guy called Enel first."
A sly grin appeared on Jozu’s face, as though he could already imagine what was about to happen.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, he swaggered into the middle of the road and stopped.
The islanders quickly noticed the group of outsiders.
They looked at them curiously while whispering among themselves about "Blue Sea people."
Although they were curious, they were also wary.
Then all eyes focused on Jozu.
He took a deep breath, as if gathering strength for something important.
The next moment, he cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted at the top of his lungs:
"Trash Enel! Come out and pay your respects to Jozu!"
"Trash Enel! Come out and pay your respects to Jozu!"
"Trash Enel! Come out and pay your respects to Jozu!"
After several thunderous shouts, the islanders were terrified out of their wits.
They immediately fled into their homes, slamming doors and windows shut.
Some even barricaded every possible opening, afraid that even the slightest crack might invite disaster.
Still, many secretly left tiny gaps just large enough to peek through.
Their eyes were filled with fear and unease.
They simply couldn’t believe that these people from the Blue Sea would dare openly provoke God Enel.
To them, Enel wasn’t merely someone powerful.
He was an untouchable, unquestionable supreme authority.
Anyone who challenged him was courting death.
The islanders were both shocked and terrified.
All they could do was pray that the outsiders’ actions wouldn’t drag them into the coming disaster.
At the same time, they desperately hoped they wouldn’t become innocent victims themselves.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long.
The bright, clear sky suddenly darkened.
Massive clouds gathered overhead as if controlled by an invisible hand.
A deafening clap of thunder echoed through the heavens.
It was as though the God of Thunder himself had become enraged and intended to annihilate all who dared disrespect him.
Everyone instinctively held their breath.
Their eyes locked onto the sky.
Then they saw it.
A brilliant blue bolt of lightning descended like a divine sword, striking directly toward Jozu.
The lightning was unnaturally vivid, and its destructive power seemed capable of tearing the air apart itself.
The islanders trembled in fear.
Many closed their eyes entirely, unable to bear the sight.
In their minds, Jozu had already been reduced to a charred corpse.
After all, they had witnessed similar scenes countless times before.
Anyone who voiced dissatisfaction with Enel—or even harbored rebellious thoughts—would inevitably be punished by divine lightning.
Every such execution had left them terrified and hopeless.
But what happened next left them utterly dumbfounded.
Their eyes widened in disbelief.
They saw the man who had insulted Enel suddenly coat his right arm in a pitch-black layer.
The dark energy enveloped his arm and emitted a terrifying aura.
Armament Haki.
Then Jozu threw a punch directly at the descending lightning.
Bang!
The massive bolt of lightning shattered instantly.
What should have been a devastating attack vanished as easily as a mosquito being swatted from the air.
If not for the lingering electrical sparks and faint vibrations in the atmosphere, they would have doubted lightning had struck at all.
"That’s it?"
Jozu planted his hands on his hips and looked up at the sky with a mocking grin.
"You call that an attack? It isn’t even enough to scratch Jozu!"
Ron could clearly see how eager Jozu was.
The giant was practically itching for a fight.
He was obviously waiting for Ron’s permission to take down Enel and begin testing the Devil Fruit Enchantment Technology using the Glint-Glint Fruit.
The atmosphere became both tense and expectant.
It felt as though time itself had slowed.
Meanwhile, Whitebeard stood quietly nearby, allowing his sons to fool around as they pleased.
Yet his gaze drifted into the distance.
Beyond the scene before him, his thoughts seemed to reach somewhere deep within his memories.
Those eyes, which had witnessed countless storms and the rise and fall of eras, revealed a faint trace of warmth and nostalgia.
It was as if some long-forgotten memory had suddenly resurfaced.
Marco immediately noticed the subtle change in Pops’ expression.
As one of the people who understood him best, Marco knew this wasn’t a sign of physical discomfort.
It was an emotional reaction.
Once he confirmed that Pops had merely become lost in memories of happier times, Marco finally relaxed.
Even so, he remained vigilant and kept a close eye on the surroundings.
In a world filled with uncertainty, caution was never a bad thing.
At that moment—
BOOM!
The sky exploded once more.
The thunderous roar sounded as if the heavens themselves were collapsing.
A second bolt of lightning descended.
This one was far more imposing than the first, its diameter several times larger.
Jozu merely looked up and smirked.
"That’s all? This is getting boring."
