Chapter 418: Big Bro, I Want That Kind of Gear Too
Chapter 418: Chapter 418: Big Bro, I Want That Kind of Gear Too
Vir hadn’t yet fully explored the other uses of this ability.
There was no rush, though.
He’d have plenty of opportunities to study it later.
Even though this power was called something like “Micro-Magnetism”, Vir was certain its potential went far beyond what he’d seen so far.
As for healing that reckless fool Kid, a full session had rewarded him with over 700,000 negative points.
Tch, still not even close to one of Shiki’s hairs.
To this day, Shiki still held the record for the highest single chime reward of negative points—a whopping one million.
Aside from negative points, there was also the magnetic ability itself.
Now that Vir had obtained both, Kid had completely lost his usefulness in Vir’s eyes.
Earlier, he had swatted the freshly healed Kid onto the deck before pulling out a pile of items to cover the table.
At this moment, Kid had already recovered completely.
Whitebeard’s attacks were lethal but uncomplicated, so repairing him hadn’t been too difficult for Vir.
Rolling on the deck, Kid was helped to his feet by Killer, his face still carrying a hint of terror.
Everything that had just happened to him was simply too bizarre.
Apart from missing his left arm, Kid looked entirely unharmed.
His expression was complicated as he stared at Vir.
Right now, his heart was filled with mixed feelings.
There had been a time when he saw Vir as just another rival—someone who was stronger only because he had a two-year head start.
But now, he would never think that way again.
Some people were simply born untouchable.
He had given up.
Vir’s strength left him with no hope of ever catching up.
His feelings now mirrored Killer’s almost exactly.
He could clearly sense that Vir could end his life with a single slash.
In the past, Kid might have responded to such a realization with a pissed-off punch aimed at Vir.
But after taking that hit from Whitebeard…
He’d woken up.
At the very least, he understood what price he’d pay for throwing that punch.
Kid and his crew watched as Vir chatted and laughed with the Whitebeard Pirates.
They couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable.
But right now, what concerned them more was—why had these people saved them?
What was their goal?
Vir’s treatment had strengthened Kid—but at his current level, the difference wasn’t very noticeable.
Not that it mattered.
For perspective, look at Luffy—just three hits from Kaido-sensei’s club and he speed-ran his way to the Yonko tier.
A measly 10% power boost wouldn’t even register on Kid’s radar.
Soon enough, the others noticed them.
“Vir, you know these guys?”
“Not really. Handle them however you want—I just did the healing.”
With that, Vir stepped aside, happy with the successful treatment.
He then made his way toward Shirahoshi.
But the closer he got, the paler the mermaid princess became—
And the more incessant the [Ding!] from his system grew.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You’ve earned 50,000 negative points!]
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You’ve earned 120,000 negative points!]
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You’ve earned 150,000 negative points!]
Vir was genuinely stunned.
Were Negative Points really this easy to farm?!
This tool was used on the right person, alright.
The points flowed in as effortlessly as eating or drinking.
Of course, Vir knew exactly why Shirahoshi was erupting with Negative Points.
It was her first time witnessing construction-site-tier medical operations.
First time shocks the hardest.
The more she saw, the harder she’d freak out later.
Thinking this, Vir couldn’t help but grin in anticipation.
That grin, however, made Shirahoshi flinch again.
The poor princess was absolutely terrified.
Her favorite doctor—a man she once thought was gentle and handsome—had turned out to be a terrifying demon who healed like Chopper on crack.
No, worse.
Blood had nearly splattered right by her feet.
The sheer dissonance between expectation and reality almost stopped her heart.
Every step Vir took toward her drained more color from her face.
She was on the verge of passing out.
Seeing her like this, Vir decided not to push further.
After all, you don’t harvest all your crops at once—you pace the reaping.
“Big Bro…”
A soft voice called out from near his feet.
Chopper was staring up at him, eyes wide and pleading.
“What’s up?”
“Do you have anything that can close wounds fast? Stitching with a needle takes too long…”
Vir blinked.
Chopper’s suturing was already blazing fast.
Even Vir’s own needlework had grown rusty from disuse, making Chopper the faster of the two.
Yet here the little reindeer was, complaining about being slow?
After a pause, Vir felt a swell of pride.
Ah… my apprentice has grown.
Of course, the boy deserved the best.
If you spoil someone, spoil them rotten.
With that thought, Vir pulled out a few glue sticks and handed them to Chopper.
“These’ll do the trick. Unless it’s someone like Whitebeard, they’ll seal any wound instantly.”
Chopper didn’t hesitate—he thanked Vir excitedly and cradled the sticks like treasure, inspecting them closely before carefully tucking them into his backpack.
He didn’t doubt Vir’s words for a second. If his big bro said they worked, then they worked.
And Vir wasn’t bluffing.
These things were that effective precisely because they were expensive.
They were a limited-time product in the System Shop, refreshed weekly—this batch only had a dozen or so sticks.
Vir didn’t need them himself since he had his welding gear, but if Chopper wanted an “upgrade”, Vir was happy to spend a million Negative Points to buy them all out.
Speaking of the welding machine, it had already gone off with a bang.
Kid was officially “repaired”.
“Pops! What should we do with this guy?!”
Jozu (once again fished out of the sea) pointed at Kid and shouted toward Whitebeard.
Instantly, everyone’s eyes turned to the Yonko.
Kid and his crew tensed.
Their lives were now—literally—in Whitebeard’s hands.
(Not that they had ever not been…)
