Chapter 410: Grumpy Old White
Chapter 410: Chapter 410: Grumpy Old White
However, Chopper’s actions had frightened Shirahoshi out of her wits.
She truly hadn’t expected it.
This usually adorable little guy, Chopper, could be so ruthless when it came to treatment.
He just swung an axe at himself without hesitation!
Blood splattered all over him—was this really the same cute little creature from before?
How terrifying!
Why was his method so different from Vir’s? Vir was always so gentle, yet his apprentice was this horrifying?
I—I need to stay far away from him in the future… I almost got fooled by his innocent appearance.
This is too scary!
Chopper’s calm demeanor had genuinely shaken Shirahoshi.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You’ve earned 60,000 negative points!]
Meanwhile, Vir received another small sum of points.
His mood improved—little by little, it all added up.
Shirahoshi had already provided over 200,000 points.
And they hadn’t even encountered any major scenes yet—what a promising future.
“Chopper, good job. Go take a bath quickly. Don’t embarrass your master later.”
Vir lounged in the sun, speaking casually.
Hearing this, Chopper, in his brawny human form, reverted to his small reindeer form.
A smile finally appeared on his face.
“Aye~! Big Bro! I’m on it!”
With that, he excitedly dashed toward the bathroom.
It wasn’t hard to guess what was going through his mind.
’Finally~ It’s over!!!’
To be honest, if not for his rapidly growing strength, Chopper would’ve regretted this deeply.
But fortunately, his power had skyrocketed.
So even if the process was just a little painful, he could grit his teeth and endure it.
This lesson had covered both combat and medicine—and he’d learned everything at an insane speed.
At the very least, Vir was satisfied with the results.
The medicine Chopper used was naturally provided by Vir.
They were potions Vir had concocted from materials exchanged in the system shop.
Their effects were top-notch.
But for Vir, they were no longer useful.
Take Whitebeard, or Akainu, for example.
Pouring those potions on them wouldn’t do anything—even if you dunked an entire barrel, it’d be useless.
So, Vir had given Chopper most of the lower-tier potions.
Why not all of them?
Because Chopper couldn’t carry that much…
Before long, Chopper finished his bath.
Vir stood up and walked to the bow of the ship.
In the distance, a black dot had appeared on the horizon.
As their electric-powered ship sped forward, the dot grew larger and larger.
Soon, a massive vessel came into view.
“Massive” was the only way to describe it.
Shirahoshi was left in awe.
Was this the ship of the Whitebeard Pirates? How could it be this big?
Was Whitebeard himself on board? If she saw him, should she say hello? After all, he had once done great things for Fish-Man Island. If she said nothing, would that be rude?
But if she did speak, what should she say…?
Shirahoshi fidgeted nervously.
Soon, the wildly enthusiastic crew of the Moby Dick began waving frantically at them.
Shirahoshi, overwhelmed by the commotion, lowered her head—her social anxiety flaring up again.
But she was also surprised.
The Whitebeard Pirates are one of the Yonko crews, right? Why are they so excited to see Vir?
Even more shocking—she spotted a towering figure among the crowd.
Having met Whitebeard before, she recognized him instantly.
But this only confused her further.
Even Whitebeard himself was coming to greet them? That’s incredible! Wasn’t Big Bro Vir supposed to be less powerful than Whitebeard? So why was he coming to welcome them?
Shirahoshi kept her head down, lost in thought.
Soon, their ship reached the side of the Moby Dick.
A thick rope was lowered, and Chopper quickly tied their ship to the massive vessel.
Then, a ladder was dropped down.
Vir glanced at it and nearly facepalmed.
What’s this? A ladder?
We haven’t seen each other for that long, and you’re already treating me like some weakling who needs a ladder?
Who’s the shameless one mocking me here? How dare they look down on me like this!
Above them—
“Pops, why are we giving him a ladder? He’s not Jozu.”
“Pops said to lower it, so we lower it! And why do you keep bringing me into this, you damn bird!”
The usual bickering between Marco and Jozu.
Whitebeard chuckled at the scene before turning his gaze downward.
Vir and the others had already arrived.
Though Vir’s expression remained neutral, he was internally cursing Whitebeard.
Ah, so it’s you, old man.
Still holding a grudge, huh?
But recalling the tragedies Whitebeard had endured, Vir decided to let it slide.
The moment the Whitebeard Pirates spotted Vir, they erupted like a storm.
“Vir! You’re finally here! We missed you so much!”
“Thank you, brother! Without you, we’d have been in deep trouble!”
“Yeah! We almost let Teach get away with it! You’ve gotta stay a few days this time!”
“Godfather! I’m coming!”
Amid the chaos—and the sound of several crewmembers plunging into the sea—Vir’s welcoming ceremony quickly concluded.
After fishing Jozu out of the water, Vir introduced the two behind him.
Shirahoshi’s beauty left the Whitebeard Pirates in awe.
But no one dared entertain any inappropriate thoughts—even when Vir simply referred to her as his patient.
Finally, Whitebeard, who had remained silent until now, spoke.
His tone was flat as he looked at Vir.
“Little Brother Vir, this time… I really have to thank you.”
Though his words were grateful, his voice sounded like he was grinding his teeth.
Vir, however, pretended not to notice.
With a grin, he walked up and casually patted Whitebeard’s massive arm.
“Old White! No need for formalities! We’re like family! No need for polite talk! Anyway—when’s the feast? Your chef’s pork knuckle rice is pretty darn good.”
His shamelessly relaxed demeanor made Whitebeard’s eye twitch.
But there was nothing the old pirate could do.
Part of him wanted to smack Vir, but it wouldn’t be appropriate.
In the end, Whitebeard could only roar to vent his frustration.
“Listen up, brats!”
“START THE BANQUET!!!”
