One Piece: Digivolving Destiny
Chapter 68: The Web and the Demonic Hydra
The clearing in the Ramble had been transformed into an abattoir of black ash and demonic ichor.
The fifty elite demons that had charged the four women didn’t find vulnerable prey; they found a meat grinder.
Laura stood at the epicenter of the carnage, a towering, eight-foot-tall engine of Gamma-irradiated destruction.
A towering demon swung a jagged broadsword, carving a deep trench into her heavily muscled green shoulder.
Laura didn’t even flinch.
The wound hissed with steam, the Gamma healing factor knitting the tissue back together in a fraction of a second.
With a guttural roar, she drove her massive adamantium claws straight through the demon’s heavily armored torso, physically ripping the beast in half.
Beside her, Gwen was a blur of lethal, fluid motion.
The white and black symbiote exoskeleton shifted seamlessly, firing thick tendrils of webbing that ripped demons off their feet, pulling them directly into the path of her razor-sharp scythe-arms.
But it was the two pirates who truly made the runaways pause.
Laura and Gwen fought with feral, desperate survival instincts.
Jasmine and Robin fought like they were taking a stroll through a garden.
Jasmine laughed as she vaulted off a tree trunk, the electricity sparking wildly across her shoulders.
The expanded head of her Coil Mjolnir crashed down with a deafening thunderclap, the electrical AoE shockwave shattering the bone armor of six demons simultaneously.
Robin stood calmly in the center, her arms crossed.
Dozens of slender phantom arms bloomed across the clearing, injecting instant-kill venom from dark panther claws.
Demons dropped from the sky like stones, their necks snapping with terrifying, elegant precision.
As the final demon dissolved into ash at Laura’s massive green feet, the Hulkverine let out a heavy, rumbling breath.
She looked at Jasmine, the neon green glow in her eyes flickering as she assessed the pirates.
“You’re not from around here,” Laura growled, her deep voice vibrating through the clearing.
“You fight like soldiers.”
“Pirates, actually,” Jasmine corrected with a cheerful wink, resting the massive hammer on her shoulder.
“We’re being hunted,” Gwen said, her symbiote mask retracting to reveal her exhausted face.
“The Weapon Plus program.
A shadow government ops group.
They won’t stop coming for us.”
Jasmine let out a sharp, dismissive laugh, entirely unfazed by the threat of a shadow government.
She looked up at the towering green berserker and the symbiote host.
“Is that all?
Sounds boring.
Look, once we finish wiping out this demonic invasion, we’re leaving this dimension.
You two should come with us.
The Grand Line doesn’t have shadow governments just Marines we can punch in the face.”
Before the runaways could process the casual invitation to leave the universe, the ground beneath their feet violently shuddered.
Back at the Bethesda Terrace, the cavalry had arrived.
The sky tore open with sonic booms as Earth’s heavy hitters rallied to the defense of the park.
Iron Man descended in a flurry of repulsor blasts, hovering beside a glowing, binary Captain Marvel.
Thor slammed into the terrace, Mjolnir crackling with divine lightning, while Wolverine and Colossus burst from the tree line alongside a dozen other Avengers and X-Men responding to the planetary threat.
But their arrival was overshadowed by the swirling orange and blue portal expanding violently above them.
The air pressure dropped drastically, replaced by the suffocating stench of sulfur and dark magic.
Descending from the rift was a bio-demonic siege engine that defied earthly comprehension.
It was a “World-Borer” a mile-long, colossal worm covered in thick, jagged obsidian plating that burned with inner hellfire.
Its mouth was a massive, spinning grinder of teeth and dark magic, specifically designed to chew through the Earth’s mantle and reach the dormant Celestial core.
Floating confidently atop the head of the colossal beast was the corrupted, Evil Dr.
Strange, his blue robes stained black, radiating malevolent, demonic energy.
“He’s here,” the good Doctor Strange gasped, clutching his chest.
“If that beast breaches the bedrock, the planet will crack.”
“How long do you need to close the door?” I asked, my eyes locked on the descending leviathan.
“Three minutes,” Strange replied, his hands glowing with golden sparks.
“I need exactly three minutes of uninterrupted concentration to cast a planetary-scale sealing incantation.
But if I am struck, the spell breaks.”
I smirked, rolling my shoulders.
“Start chanting, Doc.
You’ve got your three minutes.”
As the massive World-Borer plummeted toward the park, threatening to crush the combined heroes of Earth, I stepped forward to the very edge of the balustrade.
I reached over my shoulders and drew The Jade Wings.
The two indestructible jade blades gleamed in the hellfire.
I held the dark black handles out to my sides.
Connecting the two pommels was a heavy black chain, and precisely in the middle of that chain sat a single, glowing green link.
I closed my eyes, focusing the absolute weight of my Willpower and spatial awareness into that green link.
“Expand,” I commanded.
The chain responded to my telekinetic will.
It shot outward, extending with blinding, hypersonic speed.
From its standard length, the black chain rapidly multiplied, stretching out to its absolute limit five entire kilometers of indestructible metal.
But I didn’t intend to hold a mile-long beast alone.
I mentally fed Fa-Jin energy into the weapon.
“Trapper!
With me!”
From the emerald smoke of the blades, the massive jade spider, The Silken Widow-Maker, materialized onto the terrace.
It didn’t attack; it immediately began spinning thick cords of completely invisible, razor-sharp silk.
Using my telekinetic control, I wove the five kilometers of black chain through the sky, crossing and intersecting with the spider’s invisible silk.
Together, we wove an inescapable, city-spanning web directly in the path of the falling World-Borer.
The mile-long beast slammed into the web.
The impact shook the entire island of Manhattan.
The chain and silk wrapped around the colossal worm’s obsidian plating dozens of times, pulling taut.
I willed the jade blades at the ends of the chains to shape-shift.
The daggers morphed seamlessly into massive, heavy harpoon-anchors.
With a telekinetic flick, I drove the jade anchors deep into the solid bedrock of Manhattan.
I physically rooted my own boots into the stone, channeling Fa-Jin into the ground to create an immovable anchor point.
The descent of the thousand-ton beast was brutally and violently halted mid-air, caught like a fly in a Warlord’s web.
High above, Evil Dr.
Strange was thrown off balance as his siege engine violently jerked to a halt.
He looked down at the five-kilometer web holding his leviathan, his face twisting in absolute, furious rage.
“You think chains can hold the Abyss?!” the corrupted sorcerer roared.
He raised his hands to the portal, channeling a massive surge of dark dimension magic.
The vortex flared violently.
From the depths of the rift, a new vanguard emerged, slamming into the park with meteor-like impacts.
They were Abyssal Titans towering, four-armed demonic behemoths radiating raw magical destruction.
But they were merely the foot soldiers for the true calamity.
Tearing through the portal came a gigantic, three-headed demonic dragon, its scales glowing with internal magma, its massive wings crackling with dark lightning.
It looked like King Ghidorah dragged straight out of hell.
“Divide and conquer!” Captain America roared over the comms.
The battlefield completely erupted into a grand alliance of survival.
The heavy hitters immediately took to the sky.
Thor called down a massive pillar of lightning onto the dragon’s right head, while Captain Marvel went full binary, blasting like a comet through its demonic wings.
Iron Man unleashed a barrage of unibeam blasts alongside Storm and Cyclops.
I commanded my heaviest Jade Clones the Obsidian-Gorilla and the Sky-Rift Roc to join them.
Suddenly, Laura, in her towering Hulkverine form, leapt hundreds of feet into the air, driving her adamantium claws directly into the dragon’s center neck.
The sky became a blinding tempest of superpowers and Grand Line mythology trying to bring down the three-headed calamity.
Below them, the rest of the heroes held the line against the Abyssal Titans.
Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, and Colossus fought side-by-side with Law, Robin, Jasmine, Gwen, and the remaining Jade Clones.
It was an earth-shattering war of survival, every hero pushed to their absolute limits to protect the chanting Sorcerer Supreme behind them.
Evil Dr.
Strange floated safely above the absolute chaos, standing on the restrained head of the World-Borer.
He looked down at the desperate heroes, the pirates, and the monsters fighting his army, and he laughed—a cold, hollow sound that echoed psychically across the park.
“Struggle all you want!” the corrupted sorcerer taunted, his voice dripping with malice as his eyes locked directly onto me.
“You are just delaying the inevitable.
I know exactly who you are, anomaly.
And once this shield breaks, I will find that little girl who opened the door.
But I won’t stop there.”
Evil Strange raised his hands, his eyes glowing with dark fire.
“I will rip open a portal to your flooded world.
I will bind your crew in chains of hellfire, break their minds, and make them watch as I turn their souls into fuel!
Everyone you know, everyone you have ever loved or protected, will be subjected to an eternity of slavery and personal torture.
They will beg for death, and I will deny them!”
The sound of the battle around me seemed to instantly fade away.
The roaring of the dragon, the blasts of repulsors, the shattering of the earth it all fell silent, replaced by the heavy, rushing sound of my own heartbeat.
Slavery.
Torture.
Breaking the minds of my crew.
Something inside me snapped.
It wasn’t a loss of control; it was the absolute, violent shattering of a mental barrier I didn’t even know I had.
For months, my Conqueror’s Haki had been an ambient pressure, a leakage of my willpower that I used to intimidate or crush weak minds.
But hearing this corrupted god threaten my family with the one thing a pirate despises above all else chains awoke the true Warlord.
The ambient temperature on the terrace plummeted to a freezing chill.
The stone beneath my boots began to violently crack and disintegrate as the sheer, suffocating density of my Willpower condensed.
I am a Sovereign of the Sea.
No one threatens my crew.
For the first time, I didn’t just release my Haki; I wielded it.
I pulled the immense, terrifying wave of red and black lightning back into my own body.
The raw, supreme king’s intent aggressively wrapped around my flesh, merging with my Armament Haki.
My eyes darkened into pitch.
I telekinetically clamped down on the black chains of the Jade Wings, locking them and the spider’s silk into a perfectly tense, immovable grid.
The World-Borer was secured entirely by my mind, freeing my hands.
I raised my fists.
They were coated in pitch-black Armament, but now, thick, violent arcs of red-black lightning Advanced Conqueror’s Haki crackled violently around them, tearing the very space around my knuckles.
I bent my knees, channeling every ounce of Fa-Jin into my legs, and kicked off the terrace.
The sonic boom of my leap shattered every remaining window facing Central Park.
I shot into the sky like a dark comet, bypassing the dragon, the Titans, and the heroes, flying straight for the head of the restrained World-Borer.
Evil Dr.
Strange’s smug expression vanished, replaced by sheer panic as he saw the red-black lightning tearing toward him.
He rapidly cast a dozen overlapping shields of dark dimension magic, barriers capable of withstanding nuclear strikes.
I didn’t care.
I pulled my fist back.
“Advanced Conqueror’s…” I roared, the sky itself trembling at the sound.
“Warlord’s Decree!”
I drove my fist forward.
It didn’t even touch the magical shields.
The sheer, condensed force of my Conqueror’s Haki projected outward, colliding with the enchantments.
The dark magic shattered like brittle glass, exploding into a million harmless sparks.
My fist connected cleanly with Evil Strange’s face.
The impact cracked the sky.
A massive shockwave of red-black lightning ripped through the clouds, blowing away the hellfire and smoke for miles.
Evil Dr.
Strange’s jaw shattered instantly, and the corrupted sorcerer was launched downward with the speed of a fired bullet.
He crashed into the center of the Great Lawn with a force that sent a localized earthquake rumbling through Manhattan, leaving a smoking crater where the Lord of the Abyss now lay broken.
