One Piece: Digivolving Destiny
Chapter 111: The Line in the Clouds
[Victor’s POV]
The Titan’s Glory hovered in the dead center of the sky, a massive wooden leviathan casting a long, dark shadow over the scarred ruins of “No-Man’s Land.” We had made ourselves the biggest, loudest target in the heavens, and the island had responded exactly as I anticipated.
From my vantage point on the bow, I watched the storm gather.
To the west, the dense jungle canopy shook violently. The booming, rhythmic thud of massive footsteps echoed through the air as Shiki’s horde breached the tree line. Hundreds of chemically enhanced beasts, towering gorillas with bulging, neon-veined muscles, serrated-beaked avian horrors, and mutated felines, spilled into the ruins, herded forward by heavily armed pirate mercenaries.
Simultaneously, from the east, the stark white architecture of the divine shrines was overrun by a tidal wave of Enel’s forces. Ranks of White Berets marched in disciplined lockstep, flanked by lower-tier Priests wielding strange Dials that sparked with latent, volatile energy.
They were two completely different breeds of destruction, converging on a single point: us.
“They certainly didn’t waste any time,” Robin observed coolly from my right side. She leaned against the railing, her eyes scanning the sheer numbers pouring into the neutral zone. “I count at least two thousand on the western front, and roughly the same on the east.”
“A lot of bodies,” Laura muttered, sliding her adamantium claws out with a sharp snikt. Gammamon stood beside her, his triceratops-like horns gleaming in the sunlight as he growled at the approaching armies.
“Let them come,” I said, my voice calm, the Warlord aura radiating off me in a heavy, oppressive wave. I turned my head slightly. “Ace. Draw the line.”
Ace stepped up to the edge of the bow, a wide, dangerous grin spreading across his face. “With pleasure.”
He leapt into the air, suspended momentarily between the two advancing armies. His body ignited, transforming into pure, roaring plasma.
“Hiken!”
Ace swung both of his arms outward in a massive, sweeping arc. Twin pillars of absolute, concentrated fire erupted from his fists, hurtling down toward the earth. The flames slammed into the ground a hundred yards out on both sides of the ship, instantly creating two colossal, towering walls of fire that stretched for miles across the ruins.
The heat was instantaneous and suffocating. The sheer concussive force of the blast melted the ancient stone and vaporized the moisture in the air.
Both armies skidded to a violent, terrified halt. The mutant beasts shrieked, backing away from the searing heat, while the White Berets broke formation, shielding their faces from the blinding light. The stampede was broken in a single second. Ace dropped gracefully back onto the deck, tipping his orange hat with a smirk.
Through the shimmering heat distortion of the flames, two figures stepped forward to the very edge of the fire line, completely unbothered by the blazing inferno.
On the western side, a bizarre man with a scientist’s coat, a wildly colorful scarf, and shoes that squeaked with every step walked to the front. Dr. Indigo. On the eastern side, a tall, bald man wearing thick iron gauntlets and carrying a massive sword stepped forward, accompanied by a giant, pale dog. Priest Ohm.
“Listen here, you arrogant Blue Sea trash!” Dr. Indigo shouted, his voice cracking with manic intensity, carrying over the roar of the fire. “You dare drop your anchor in the Golden Lion’s territory? The great Shiki demands that you lower your ship, drop your weapons, and submit yourselves to his armada! Do that, and you might live to clean his boots!”
From the other side, Priest Ohm’s voice carried a chilling, fanatical calm. “Blasphemy. You pollute the Holy Land of ‘God’ with your presence. The only submission you will make is to the divine will of the Almighty. Surrender your lives, and perhaps your souls will be cleansed by lightning.”
I rested my hands on the railing, looking down at the two commanders with absolute, freezing indifference. I picked up the acoustic broadcast Dial, ensuring my voice would echo across the entire battlefield.
“I think you misunderstand the situation,” I said, my voice rolling like thunder over the ruins. “I am a Warlord of the Sea. I answer to no one, least of all a faded relic from a bygone era and an overgrown spark plug with a god complex.”
Dr. Indigo’s jaw dropped, his squeaky shoes taking a step back. Priest Ohm’s eyes narrowed into violent slits.
“If the ‘Lion’ and the ‘God’ are so desperate to see me bow,” I continued, letting my Conqueror’s Haki bleed into my words, making the very air heavy, “then they can step out of their hiding holes and attempt to defeat me themselves. Until then, you have two choices, go back and tell your masters to surrender, or burn where you stand.”
“Insolence!” Ohm roared, drawing his iron whip-sword. “We will drag you from the sky!”
“Tear that ship apart!” Indigo shrieked, pointing a frantic finger at the galleon. “Kill them all!”
The armies roared, trying to muster the courage to push through the flames.
“Robin,” I said, not taking my eyes off the ground. “Press the button.”
Robin smiled. She held up the duplicated blue Meeseeks Box we had manufactured earlier. Crossing her arms, she activated her Devil Fruit. “Cien Fleur.”
A hundred ghostly hands sprouted around the blue box in a blur of motion, pressing the singular button with blinding, machine-gun rapidity.
Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof. Poof.
The deck of the Titan’s Glory was instantly flooded with a thick cloud of blue smoke.
“I’m Mr. Meeseeks, look at me!” “I’m Mr. Meeseeks!” “Ooh, yeah, can do!”
I ignored the chaotic chirping and raised my own hand toward the sky, tapping into my core. “Summon: Jade Emperor.”
The clouds above us violently parted. A colossal construct of shimmering, translucent emerald energy materialized in the sky. It wasn’t just a dragon, it was a massive, three-headed serpentine leviathan. It coiled around the mainmast of the ship, its three massive heads staring down at the armies with glowing, soulless eyes.
The dragon opened its three maws and unleashed a localized, concussive sonic roar. The shockwave visibly distorted the air, shattering the stone ruins below and dropping hundreds of soldiers to their knees as their eardrums burst.
While the armies were reeling from the draconic roar, I pointed down at the ruins. “Defend the perimeter.”
“Ooh, can do!”
A massive, perfectly synchronized army of five hundred bright blue Mr. Meeseeks vaulted over the railing of the galleon. They fell through the sky like a bizarre azure rain, landing in the “No-Man’s Land” right between the two walls of fire.
The moment their feet hit the ground, the goofy, high-pitched creatures snapped into a rigid, terrifyingly perfect military phalanx. They stood shoulder-to-shoulder, their blank, wide-eyed smiles staring unblinkingly at the enemy forces through the flames. The sheer uncanny horror of five hundred identical, smiling blue creatures standing in dead silence under a three-headed dragon was too much for the already terrified soldiers.
“Monsters…” a pirate mercenary whispered, dropping his sword.
“Retreat!” a White Beret screamed, turning on his heel. “Fall back to the Shrine!”
Within seconds, the bravado of the two massive armies completely collapsed. Shiki’s mutated beasts broke their leashes and fled back into the western jungle, dragging mercenaries with them. Enel’s divine guard scrambled over themselves in a desperate rush to escape back to the eastern shrines.
I dismissed the dragon, letting it dissolve into green mist, and watched the cowards run. The bait had been taken perfectly.
[General POV]
High above the western edge of Upper Yard, inside a massive, gravity-defying fortress composed of floating islands chained together, Golden Lion Shiki sat on his throne.
A heavy cloud of cigar smoke hung in the air. Shiki, the steering wheel forever embedded in his skull, listened to the frantic report coming through the Den Den Mushi from Dr. Indigo.
“They summoned a three-headed dragon, Boss! And an army of… of smiling blue demons! The men are terrified!”
Shiki crushed the cigar in his hand, his eyes burning with a mixture of furious rage and dangerous intrigue. A Warlord of the Sea. Right here, in his domain.
“A kid from the Blue Sea thinks he can waltz into my sky and give me an ultimatum?” Shiki growled, his voice vibrating with absolute menace. The ambient gravity in the throne room shifted, causing heavy stone pillars and weapons to float menacingly into the air. “He has no idea what era he just picked a fight with.”
Shiki stood up, the swords attached to his stumps clinking against the stone floor. “Indigo! Prepare the main armada. Wake up the heaviest hitters. We are going to rip that flying ship out of the sky and remind this generation who the true ruler of the heavens is.”
Miles away, at the highest peak of the eastern territory, “God” Enel lounged on a bed of soft clouds inside the Golden Shrine, casually biting into a fresh apple.
He didn’t need a Den Den Mushi to know what had happened. His Mantra covered the entire island. He had heard the Warlord’s arrogant broadcast, felt the massive surge of strange Haki, and listened to the panicked heartbeats of his retreating priests.
Enel chewed his apple slowly, his face twisted into a mask of utter, profound disgust.
“An ultimatum to God?” Enel whispered, a dangerous spark of blue electricity arcing across his fingers. “How delightfully blasphemous.”
He stood up, his golden staff spinning lazily in his hand. The sky above the shrine began to darken as thick, black thunderclouds rolled in, answering his call.
“Ohm. Satori. Gedatsu. Shura,” Enel commanded, his voice echoing through the empty halls to summon his four elite priests. “It seems the Blue Sea has sent us heretics who require a divine purge. Prepare yourselves. We are going to smite them from existence.”
[Peter POV]
We moved through the dense jungle at a brutal pace.
Jasmine took point, clearing heavy vines with her hammer, while Jacob, Maria, and I kept a tight perimeter around Wyper, Isa, Aisa, and the fifty-odd Shandian refugees.
Victor’s distraction had worked flawlessly. We hadn’t seen a single enemy scout or mutant beast since the massive shockwave of Haki rolled over the island. Every eye in Upper Yard was locked onto the Titan’s Glory.
“We’re almost there!” Jacob called out from the rear, his long arms easily vaulting over a fallen tree. “I can see the cloud beach!”
We broke through the final line of dense foliage, stepping out onto the soft, bouncy white terrain of the shore.
The beach had been completely transformed. Law, Bepo, and the rest of the crew had been incredibly busy. A massive, translucent blue dome, one of Law’s sustainable Rooms, covered a large section of the beach, acting as a secure quarantine zone. Inside and around it were hundreds of Skypiean civilians, clutching their meager belongings, looking exhausted but unharmed.
“Jasmine!” Gwen waved from a makeshift medical tent, where Palmon was handing out fresh water synthesized from the ship’s reserves.
As we led the Shandian refugees onto the beach, the atmosphere was incredibly tense. For generations, the Shandians and the Skypieans had been mortal enemies, fighting bitterly over the land. Now, shoved together on the same beach, stripped of their homes by two greater evils, they simply stared at each other. There was no fighting, no yelling, just the shared, hollow exhaustion of survival.
“We got them,” Jasmine said, walking up to Law. “Isa, Aisa, and Wyper’s guerrilla unit.”
Law nodded, adjusting his hat. “The perimeter is secure. As long as the Captain keeps juggling the two armies up there, they are safe here.”
Isa set Aisa down, pulling the young girl close. The terrifying flare of Aisa’s Mantra had settled down now that they were far from the epicenter of the impending clash. For the first time in over a year, the refugees were surrounded by capable fighters who were actually on their side. The relief was palpable.
But the moment of peace was violently shattered.
Wyper, who had been silently scanning the massive crowd of evacuated Skypieans, suddenly froze. His body went completely rigid, the muscles in his neck standing out like cords of steel.
His eyes locked onto a figure standing near the edge of the medical tent.
Wyper’s face twisted into an expression of absolute, unadulterated rage. He shoved past a group of startled Skypiean children, raising a trembling, furious finger toward the crowd.
“YOU!” Wyper screamed at the top of his lungs, the sheer volume of his voice echoing off the cloud banks.
The entire beach fell dead silent. Hundreds of heads crew, Shandians, and Skypieans alike, snapped around to follow his pointing finger, the fragile peace instantly shattering into terrifying suspense.
