One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1451 Awakening
Now, Amoon and Douglas also understood that the horde before them were all controlled Puppets, their consciousness had long been replaced.
This group was merely a bunch of walking corpses!
Douglas and Amoon knew that with Igor's experience, dealing with these Soul Devourers shouldn't be a problem, as evidenced by the group's continued retreat in the face of Igor's advance.
Igor continued forward, showing no signs of retreat.
The mob followed suit, hesitating to attack, even though their weapons were raised high.
"Still unwilling to come out? If that's the case, then I'll have to invite you," Igor suddenly halted. The Spirit Power in his body continued to flow, a reaction to gathering Energy.
Now he extended his hand, drawing his Meteor Sword from his back, gripping it with both hands.
Knees bent, waist lowered, sword thrust!
The seamless motion caught the horde off guard!
The Sword Qi, like a gust of wind, flew out, combining with the Spirit Power in Igor, blasting open a path.
This kind of Sword Qi was not uncommon; many could unleash it, so the mob, though slightly injured, maintained their formation without scattering or disrupting the encirclement's rhythm.
Thus, the path blasted open was quickly blocked again by the mob...
"Uh, why do I feel Igor's advantage isn't showing?" Douglas murmured, somewhat puzzled by Igor's actions.
"Don't rush, this is just the beginning," responded Spirit Book, having spent ample time with Igor and understanding his situation well, knowing that once Igor started, he'd truly reveal his prowess.
In essence, the real show had only just begun.
Igor's lips curled into a smile; his earlier strike was just a sampling.
These low-level Soul Devourers were always a special existence; their Devouring Power couldn't innately spur hosts into action and could only occupy hosts' consciousness. Another Energy guides them, akin to a Puppet Master's strings controlling Puppets, driving them to act upon its intent.
The reason this mob encircled Igor was because the Puppet Master behind them detected Igor's anomaly, wanting to catch Igor for a closer look, but didn't anticipate Igor forcing him out now.
The flames attacking Igor earlier were utterly ineffective, surprising the Soul Devourer behind. Now, this youth seemed unafraid of his swarm tactics, somewhat unnerving.
Could it be that the youth's Devouring Power wasn't a mere coincidence!
What attracted the Soul Devourer was precisely the Devouring Power within Igor.
This Devouring Power manifested as Blue Flame in Kadi and had appeared once in Igor. Later, despite numerous attempts, Igor couldn't replicate it, always resulting in sparks.
However, though Igor couldn't harness the Blue Flame, he successfully discovered a method to counter the Soul Devourer.
Energy collisions, fiery dances - this was Igor's method of combating the Soul Devourer.
"Next, comes the crucial moment!" declared Spirit Book solemnly, resting in Douglas's hand.
At this very moment, Igor had closed his eyes, gathered Energy flowing throughout his body. He extended his hand, forming a tiger claw, palm down, gradually drawing nearby Energy to the claw.
Igor's palm slowly formed an Energy Ball, glowing with a white luminescence.
The Soul Devourers began to tremble, sensing the terrifying power behind the white ball.
Igor flipped his palm, releasing the white Energy Ball into the sky. As he moved his fingers, the ball gradually dispersed into countless smaller balls, their radiance overwhelming the eyes.
Yet the Soul Devourers' eyes were already beyond their control; beyond minor internal anomalies, they felt no disturbances.
Igor flicked his fingers, sending the small balls toward the Soul Devourers. Instantly, their bodies seemed to burst into full bloom!
Pop, pop, pop...
Crisp sounds filled the space, the dazzling light pierced the Soul Devourers' hearts, forcing them to depart from their host bodies...
Douglas and Amoon opened their eyes, as the blinding light compelled them to shut them momentarily. Everything around had changed; the mob encircling Igor suddenly seemed drained of power, dropping their weapons, some collapsing to the ground, others unable to stand, either kneeling or lying down in defeat.
"This!" Douglas could hardly believe it.
"The Puppets' strings are broken!" Amoon had some understanding and realized.
The old beggar's mouth hung open in shock, speechless for a long time.
The scene was filled with wailing; those awake groaned softly, and some displayed unusual expressions.
"Why am I here!"
"Why have I become like this?"
"Why am I in this place?"
"Oh my, where am I!"
Diverse cries floated through the skies of Romanvis, so many people suddenly free from Soul Devourers' control, emerging from suppression in bewilderment.
They couldn't comprehend this feeling or understand what had transpired, only able to wail.
Like a newborn awoken abruptly from sleep.
"So, won't you come out now?" Igor looked to the sky, evidently seeking the mastermind.
Possibly out of fear or shock, the Soul Devourer showed no sign of movement.
Igor waited a full moment without eliciting any response.
"It seems this one's unwilling to come out," Amoon murmured to himself.
"Heh, witnessing such a method, even if he comes out, what could he do? He'd still be reduced to cannon fodder!" remarked Spirit Book indifferently.
Igor's move shook Romanvis. Hidden factions behind the scenes undoubted sensed the shift. The place was like an egg cracked open, revealing what was concealed within. Some observed, some stirred, seemingly awakened by Igor's strike.
