Chapter 1446 The World Has Changed...

Igor heard Amoon mention Romanvis and immediately knew that this senior must have visited the city before.

"Senior, have you walked through this city before?" Igor asked humbly, his curiosity about the city and its nation still quite strong.

"I have traveled to many places and count as a wanderer. I've been to that city before, just from a different direction." Amoon gazed into the distance, as if recalling many past events. These events were his wealth, which he generally didn't share with others, but Igor was an exception.

"What is this city really like!" Igor went straight to the point, not wanting to beat around the bush. Previously, when he tried to circle around things, he often ended up tying himself into knots.

"This city is very suitable for wanderers and hardworking people." Amoon slowly recalled that period of time; back then, he was still very young and often reacted impulsively to certain matters.

The city had calmed him down, made him realize that many things can't be obtained through contention, and that this world is not entirely equal.

The tide of memories suddenly engulfed Amoon, plunging him into a particular state. His expression changed.

Igor also sensed the difference and decided not to probe further. He knew this was Amoon's personal moment and he shouldn't intervene too much.

Thus, Igor gave Amoon some free time to allow the senior to immerse himself in his own world and slowly digest those memories. Meanwhile, Igor himself continued to imagine and connect to what the city called Romanvis might look like.

In such a situation, time seemed to progress very quickly. No one knew exactly how it slipped away, leaving no trace, silently moving on, until they realized they were in a different scenario.

When Igor and Xiso became aware of the passage of time, Douglas had already returned.

Only, Douglas returned empty-handed, not carrying any clothes as they had imagined.

Douglas's complexion was poor, looking like he had gone through an unpleasant experience compared to Igor and the others. His time had been busy and full.

"Senior Douglas, you're back!" Upon seeing this situation, Igor refrained from speaking casually, so he just asked this one question.

Douglas grunted in response and sat on the ground. The way he sat didn't suggest he had encountered any setback.

"What's going on? Did you perhaps slip up? Can Romanvis really be so charming that it could make the Divine Thief Hanter fail?" Amoon teasingly asked, of course jokingly.

"Not exactly a slip-up. No need for such jokes. It's unnecessary. I just haven't figured some things out yet—need time to think." Douglas waved his hand, making clear he did not want to be disturbed, and once he figured things out, he'd naturally explain his encounter.

Amoon saw this and said nothing, letting Douglas think for himself—just as Igor had given him ample space earlier.

Igor remained silent the whole time. Douglas's condition only made him even more curious about Romanvis.

What really happened in that city? Igor couldn't help looking toward it, feeling that something significant must have occurred, or why would Senior Douglas be this way?

Yet, there weren't many people going in and out at the city gate, no apparent change.

Many times, Igor felt the city gate might just be a display; he could walk right through it, but respecting the seniors' caution, he remained silent.

For now, they had to wait for Douglas to figure it out. Once he did, all would become clear.

Moreover, it wouldn't take too long. Douglas sighed exaggeratedly, seemingly unable to understand what he had encountered.

When unable to figure things out oneself, one seeks others' help, as Douglas did. He turned his head, looking puzzled.

"Do you think the Vero people would give up their pride? Would they tolerate the Kayne people standing above them?"

"Of course not. How could they let a Kayne step on them? In their eyes, Kayne people are waterfowl unable to swim well and have no real skills." Amoon answered without hesitation.

"That's what I thought too, but today's incident says otherwise!" Douglas remarked.

"What did you encounter?" Amoon was extremely anxious; he wanted to know what had happened in the city to make the thief feel this way.

"I encountered something unusual. I stated Romanvis is the most remote part of the Wensi Empire, right?" Douglas asked.

"You could say that, indeed abandoned by the Wensi Empire, a city left behind." Amoon replied.

"This place should at least preserve some Wensi traditions, like attire, lifestyle habits." Douglas continued.

"Exactly, that's why we waited for you here!" Amoon spoke lightly.

"I went there, plenty of opportunities to strike, but I saw no point." Douglas sighed.

"Why no point?" Igor finally spoke up, feeling Douglas's descriptions were unclear, not knowing what he meant.

"Let's go, have a look together!" Douglas stood up, dusting off his pants as he prepared to head toward the city gate.

"Hey, senior, what are you doing? This might alarm the Wensi Empire and thereby disturb the Gaoju Family; it won't end well!" Igor quickly reminded.

"Indeed, doing so might get you noticed by the Wensi folks. The Gaoju Family doesn't know our goals, but the Wensi Empire is famously xenophobic; they'd apprehend and interrogate us. True, catching you might be hard, but think of the hassle!"

"Previously, I considered like you did. Even thought it was a Romanvis rear gate due to its chaos—until I checked the guards' quarters and realized the truth was different!" Douglas shrugged.

"Then what is…" Amoon queried.

"The city is full of Kayne and Mantai people, and the guards aren't Vero. I truly don't understand! Perhaps the world has already changed!"
