One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1323 - 1320: Temporary Compromise
Xinbal Cemetery.
The entire team of Soul Guardians was shocked at this moment because all of the restraints on them were gone. They could move freely now, and the endless swarms of undead that had been rushing at them were now scattered, as if the power controlling them had suddenly vanished. These undead lay on the ground or fled, equally bewildered by what was happening, with terror etched on their faces. Yet, despite their efforts, they could not escape this barrier.
This barrier is a shield; without a way to break it, outsiders cannot enter, nor can those inside leave.
After all, they didn't want anyone to know what was happening here; they wished to remain hidden, so the barrier had to stay intact.
Initially, the barrier had a hole due to continuous attacks, which allowed Kuyi Tulan to enter, and upon entering, Kuyi Tulan sealed the hole, clearly not wanting the outside world to know what was happening inside.
The Soul Guardians still hadn't seen the true enemy; they only saw Kuyi Tulan suddenly release a blue light, which turned into flames, blue flames flying in the air, constantly entangled with another set of flames.
When the entire skirmish ended, Kuyi Tulan had turned into a statue-like existence.
No one knew what had happened inside; at that time, they were immobilized, all influenced by Kuyi Tulan's binding spell.
When they could move again, they found that the statue-like Kuyi Tulan could also move once more. This situation felt strange to them, as their restraints were completely gone, and they noticed the barrier, previously patched up, was now incomplete again.
"Repair the barrier!" Bigas once again took on the role of commander; during the time they were bound by Kuyi Tulan, they had recovered some strength, reabsorbing a bit of Spirit Power. Although these recovered energies weren't enough for full restoration, they provided a little support.
At least, repairing the barrier was not an issue.
"Kuyi Tulan!" Bigas shouted at Kuyi Tulan, feeling capable now to confront the chief of the Alchemy Workshop.
Kuyi Tulan merely raised his head, expressionless; at this moment, his struggle with the Spirit meant he couldn't use his power, anyone could easily pound him.
"What exactly is your purpose here? What did you do to Xiso!" Bigas asked loudly, puzzled because nothing significant had changed here, and the cemetery seemed not to have lost anything. So, Kuyi Tulan's purpose here was very suspicious.
"Xiso is under my protection, Bigas. And my purpose here is the same as yours, just to guard this place." Although Kuyi Tulan at this moment could not summon any energy, he could still easily handle these Soul Guardians.
He felt that the Spirit wouldn't just leave him be because they were one entity now!
"You're lying; you must have a purpose coming here!" Bigas clearly didn't believe Kuyi Tulan's words.
"Bigas, you're always so distrustful; the results are right here, aren't they? Haven't you seen it? Those undead you struggled with have now been dealt with. Is this the result of your persistence?" Those words were loaded with sarcasm, but indeed, the situation was as it appeared: the undead had become manageable only after Kuyi Tulan arrived.
"You are quite the eloquent person." Within Kuyi Tulan's consciousness, the Spirit couldn't help but exclaim.
"So what? I can't lie in front of these people; I came here precisely to stop you."
"Stop? I think you're just stoking the flames, weren't you always guiding that person to delve into memories!" The Spirit was clearly very angry, feeling that Kuyi Tulan came with ulterior motives.
"You can't prevent someone from finding themselves; it's their choice. They've freed themselves, leaving you with a new choice, which is quite natural." In consciousness, Kuyi Tulan continued exchanging with the Spirit, but in reality, the Soul Guardians had surrounded Kuyi Tulan.
Clearly, Bigas didn't want to let Kuyi Tulan go at this moment; their grudge mainly stemmed from Xiso.
"Oh, Bigas, why are you always in such a rush? Is it appropriate to treat a benefactor like this?" Kuyi Tulan smiled, appearing relaxed and without pressure.
"You're quite the calm one!" The Spirit unconsciously commented upon seeing this scene.
"Do you think I should beg for mercy or admit defeat? Don't joke around; I am not that kind of person." Kuyi Tulan continued speaking within his consciousness.
At this point, Bigas' Ice Seal had pierced Kuyi Tulan's shoulder, and blood flowed down along the ice.
"Why aren't you fighting back?" Bigas was astonished at Kuyi Tulan's lack of resistance.
"Why should I fight back?" Kuyi Tulan asked in return, but within his consciousness, the Spirit mocked his inability to resist.
This response made Bigas hesitate; she understood Kuyi Tulan to a certain degree, knowing he was definitely plotting something. Her Ice Seal was merely a test, yet Kuyi Tulan didn't even bother to dodge.
"Doing this, won't they stop attacking you?" The Spirit asked, puzzled by Kuyi Tulan.
"No, they'll continue attacking me as usual." In consciousness, Kuyi Tulan remained calm.
"Then why are you doing this, to suffer, is it enjoyable?"
"Hahaha, I'm not uncomfortable; you're the one who should be uncomfortable. If you let them ravage me like this, won't you also fall into sleep?"
"You!" The Spirit couldn't believe Kuyi Tulan had such a plan.
"I don't think you'll just stand by, right?" Kuyi Tulan laughed out loud.
"Hmph!" The Spirit disdained Kuyi Tulan's method.
"You devoured my Spirit, replaced him, so you must fulfill the role of a replacement!" Kuyi Tulan continued, "Because there aren't many people in this world who can awaken you, haha."
"Hmph, one day, I will tear you apart!" The Spirit clenched his teeth; he had no way to deal with Kuyi Tulan's approach.
This counted as the Spirit's temporary compromise; he would summon power for Kuyi Tulan at this moment.
