One-Eyed Monster

Chapter 1307 - 1303: Duty

  • Next Chapter

Someone doesn't want what happens here to spread, because it is their mission.

The Soul Guardian Team is struggling to resist here. The graves here do not hold their secret, but the Soul Guardian's mark brought them here to gather and protect this place.

The Soul Guardians don't ask why, they only execute orders. In front of the mark, they only obey.

They follow their leader Bigas, camping in this graveyard, guarding the entire cemetery.

The unknown enemy launched an attack here, but it was so secretive that no one could discern the nature of this elusive opponent.

"Protect the Barrier, don't let it break!" Bigas shouted loudly. At this moment, she was no longer the noble young lady of the Kangen Family, nor the six-element sage of the Wizard Alliance; she was now a commander, the commander of the Soul Guardians.

"Yes!" the Soul Guardians responded in unison. They were fulfilling their duty now, as protecting secrets was always their responsibility. At this moment, they wouldn't choose to retreat; the Barrier was established to safeguard the secret, and a secret isn't a secret if everyone knows it.

Bigas formed spell seals with both hands, countless Ice Blades collaborating with the Soul Guardian Team in defense.

The enemy's assault was relentless, ceaselessly surging without the slightest pause. They had been fighting here for three days and nights, and there was no sign of weakening.

They rested in turns, yet the enemy needed no rest. They were surprised, wondering who exactly this enemy was!

Attacking them were those undead, seemingly controlled by this enemy. But this enemy was indeed too rampant; three days and nights, endlessly without respite, as if possessing inexhaustible vigor.

This fierce battle severely damaged the Soul Guardian Team. The lower-level Adventurers with Class fell in battle. They hadn't experienced such a grueling fight before, not that they hadn't fought prolonged battles, but this was truly bewildering.

The entire process was nonstop, like a machine. Even Holy Cloak Bigas couldn't sustain three days and nights of extreme excitation without food, drink, or rest. The strength of Holy Cloak could endure a bit longer, but without replenishing Spirit Power, it all became moot.

Bigas continued to stand due to the support from the Soul Guardian Team's authority.

However, the opponent showed no signs of stopping. The opponent seemed relentless, and even more shockingly, those undead they had repelled launched attacks again.

These undead truly became the literal interpretation of the undead!

Bigas's Ice Seal Spell grew weaker, caused by the depletion of Spirit Power. The enemy's attacks were not complex, merely the assaults of the undead themselves. These undead were neither strong nor skilled, merely abandoned beings, simplistic in their attacks. But this simplicity posed sufficient threat, not due to power but sheer numbers, striving to exhaust them all!

Another three days and nights like this, and they could be completely wiped out!

It wasn't merely fear-mongering; it was a genuine crisis.

The Barrier continually trembled, threatening to collapse the defense line soon.

Bigas felt solemn now. Leading the Soul Guardians here was quite sudden, and she herself didn't understand why the enemy emerged here.

What on earth did the enemy want? She didn't know, but she knew this place needed protection. The entire process was intricate and convoluted. The result was her promise to Xiso!

Xiso once opened an escape route for her, a path desperately carved by him. Xiso told her no matter what, she must protect this place because it was the enemy's final destination.

She couldn't know how Xiso knew all this, but she believed Xiso; she always believed him.

After escaping, she sensed someone tracking her, eliminating numerous enemies along the way. The only thing she found on them was one phrase: the opponent was Death.

The enemy was Death, a codename for an organization she had never heard of. Even the Soul Guardians hadn't heard of such an organization. It remained only as the family-exterminated traitorous organization.

But how could the eradicated traitorous organization cause such a stir? There must be some mystery involved here. But what that mystery was, Bigas couldn't grasp.

Death's pursuit failed to make Bigas retreat. Following Xiso's instructions, she assembled the entire Soul Guardian Team. When they reached the graveyard, the undead had already begun digging up the graves!

She couldn't know what these undead were digging for, only sensing an abnormal fluctuation of Spirit Power throughout the graveyard.

She immediately raised the Barrier. What happened here absolutely couldn't leak out. Once discovered by the outside world, it would cause greater panic. The Soul Guardian Team's task was to protect these secrets.

The Soul Guardians obeyed commands, maintaining the Barrier, and simultaneously started to eliminate those abnormal undead, succeeding quickly. Within moments, those grave-diggers were dispersed.

They initially thought the protection would be easy, as their main force was entirely deployed, yet no one anticipated that scattering those undead marked merely the beginning of the real guardianship.

Guarding secrets was their duty; they bore this mission and naturally wouldn't shrink back.

Of course, for Bigas, it wasn't just a mission but also a covenant, an agreement with Xiso. Without Xiso, she wouldn't know any of this was happening. The enemy would silently take what they wanted, making the world worse.

Bigas panted heavily, unable to give up at this moment!

"Master, I'm having trouble maintaining this Barrier!" Kuruto, Bigas's Witch Spirit said. It was retrieved by Bigas from the Alchemy Workshop, and now it admired her even more.

Kuruto was a crucial part of the Barrier's formation. Without it, the Barrier was hardly sustainable, now trembling under attacks from the undead!

"Bigas, at this rate, we probably can't hold out much longer," said Biggs, Bigas's elder sister, also assisting Bigas at this moment. After descending from Guru Mountain, she followed Bigas back to the Wizard Alliance, ultimately choosing to stay with her.

"Even if Spirit Power runs dry, we must hold this ground. No matter what, we cannot let this graveyard fall!"
