On a Stormy Night, the Campus Belle Knocked on My Door Seeking Shelter
Chapter 298: With You
Su Yuqing originally wanted to attend a university where she could study psychiatry or a related medical field.
After some research, she discovered the best fit for her was Xiangchuan Medical College at Zhongxiang University, located in Xiang Province.
However, getting into such a prestigious university was incredibly difficult.
Even with Su Yuqing’s current scores, getting into Xiangchuan Medical College was still not a sure thing.
The program Su Yuqing wanted to apply for was Clinical Medicine (an eight-year integrated bachelor’s and doctorate program).
But the competition for this program was fierce.
So her initial goal was just to get a high enough score to get into the five-year Clinical Medicine program at Xiangchuan Medical College.
With her current scores, she was already a shoo-in for this program.
She just wanted to take a shot at the eight-year integrated bachelor’s-doctorate program.
Seeing Su Yuqing’s scores, Chen Mo immediately smiled and asked, “These are great scores. So? Have you decided which university you want to apply to?”
“Yeah, Zhongxiang University. What about you?” Su Yuqing turned to look at Chen Mo, her gaze filled with curiosity.
Although Chen Mo had said he would go to the same university as her, this was no small matter.
Getting into a good university, studying a major you like, and having a career you enjoy in the future—that was what mattered most.
If he forced himself to go to the same university just to be with her, without any real interest or motivation for his major, it would be a disaster.
“Of course I’m going with you. Didn’t I say it before? Wherever you go, I go. I’m your creditor, after all. You can’t run away,” Chen Mo said with a teasing smile.
Su Yuqing was overjoyed to hear his definitive answer, but she was also worried about him. She immediately reached out, gently took his hand, and said with a serious expression, “Even though I really want to go to the same university as you, I don’t want you to compromise just for my sake. I hope you apply for a major that you truly love.”
Seeing Su Yuqing look at him so emotionally and speak from the heart, Chen Mo was touched. He quickly smiled and said, “Don’t worry, this isn’t a decision I just made today. I’ve already thought it through. Clinical Medicine is the major I want to study. My grandparents are getting older, and I want to have the ability and the connections to get them the best medical resources and treatment plans if they ever get sick. I want to help them recover.”
Chen Mo hadn’t just said he’d go to the same school as Su Yuqing on a whim.
When he heard that Su Yuqing wanted to study clinical psychology to be able to treat her mother’s mental illness, Chen Mo had thought of his own grandparents.
In that bleak, ten-year world, his grandparents had also passed away, one after the other.
That was something Chen Mo could never accept.
Although he knew his grandparents would eventually pass away as they grew older, Chen Mo didn’t want them to leave so soon.
He wanted them to at least see their great-grandchildren be born and to experience the joy of having four generations under one roof.
Besides, it wasn’t just for his grandparents. There were many other benefits to studying medicine, though clinical medicine wasn’t a field most people were willing to enter.
Having been a criminal investigator for many years, Chen Mo had a deep understanding of the human body. This foundation would be a great help in his pursuit of medicine.
When Su Yuqing heard that his motivation was his grandparents’ health, she felt it sounded like a genuine reason that was true to his character.
So she didn’t press the issue.
After all, deep down, she really wanted to go to the same university as Chen Mo.
Who could bear to be separated from the one they loved, especially during the honeymoon phase of a new relationship?
The thought of being apart was unbearable.
Forget being at two different universities; even at home, they had been inseparable lately, always lovey-dovey and reluctant to be apart.
So, while she said she wanted Chen Mo to consider his own dreams, deep down, Su Yuqing still hoped they could go to the same university.
Since the reason Chen Mo gave was solid, she naturally wouldn’t object any further.
After the college entrance exam results were released, universities would begin announcing their admission cutoffs.
Chen Mo’s score was more than high enough to guarantee him a spot in the eight-year integrated bachelor’s-doctorate program in Clinical Medicine.
As for Su Yuqing, she was still anxious, unsure if her score was competitive enough.
Based on data from previous years, the cutoff score for this program was typically above 670.
Su Yuqing’s score was 675, putting her right on the bubble, so it was no wonder she felt unsure.
In the end, it didn’t really matter. Even if they ended up in different programs, they would still be in the same college at the same university, so they could see each other whenever they wanted.
For the next few days, their lives went on as usual.
They took strolls in the morning, worked out together in the evening, and came home to cuddle in the same bed. Aside from not having taken that final step, they were just like any other couple.
But even without taking that final step, sleeping so closely together meant that accidental touches, whether intentional or not, were inevitable.
Especially since she had a habit of sleeping with nothing on, the soft, resilient sensation of her body was all the more distinct.
These accidental touches would sometimes stir up an unbearable longing in them both.
After they returned from Bikong Island and spent over half a month living together in harmony, bliss, and sweet intimacy, Zhongxiang University finally announced its admission cutoffs.
The morning sun filtered through the blinds, casting alternating stripes of light and shadow across the computer desk.
On the computer screen, the admissions page for Xiangchuan Medical College at Zhongxiang University lay open. The crucial section for the admission cutoff scores, however, had not yet been updated.
Su Yuqing’s fingers tightened on the mouse, her knuckles turning white.
She appeared calm as she sat before the computer, but her body was taut with tension.
A score of 675. It was much better than she had expected, but for the flagship long-term program at Zhongxiang University’s top medical college, it was just barely on the threshold.
Chen Mo sat beside her, one hand resting casually on the back of her chair, looking relaxed in contrast.
After all, no matter what happened, he would be attending the same college at the same university as Su Yuqing.
His gaze occasionally swept over the screen, but most of the time, it lingered on Su Yuqing’s profile.
Her eyelashes were lowered, and the tight set of her lips betrayed her anxiety.
‘It was clear Su Yuqing was a competitive girl. She wasn’t one to settle if she could do better.’
“Your score should be enough. Don’t be nervous.” Chen Mo’s warm breath brushed against Su Yuqing’s ear, bringing a sense of calm to her anxious heart.
Su Yuqing nodded instinctively. “I know I’m a shoo-in for the five-year program, so I don’t even know why I’m so nervous. Maybe I’m just being greedy, aiming for something higher.”
