During this final stretch of high school, everyone was buried in their books for the last big push—everyone except for Chen Mo and a few students who couldn’t care less about their college entrance exam scores.

As for Chen Mo, he would spend some time tutoring Zhou Hao, but as soon as Qu Danwan showed up, he’d make an excuse about needing to see someone and let her take over.

He would then return to Su Yuqing and her friends to continue their tutoring.

Chen Mo hoped all of his friends could get the scores they wanted.

Especially Su Yuqing.

Chen Mo had noticed that Su Yuqing seemed extremely tired lately and was often rubbing her temples.

In the library, Su Yuqing and Zhao Yuanyuan were studying together. Su Yuqing had just been rubbing her temples when, a moment later, warm fingers gently settled on her head. Thumbs began to press lightly against her temples, bringing a sensation that was both sore and wonderfully soothing.

Su Yuqing slowly turned her head to see Chen Mo’s familiar, handsome smile.

"The college entrance exam is getting close, but you still need to balance studying with rest," Chen Mo said, his voice soft and gentle as he advised her. "Don’t get too tired. If you burn yourself out, your mind might go blank during the actual test, and that will affect your score."

Watching this from the side, Zhao Yuanyuan looked completely smitten, her eyes sparkling with delight.

Feeling Chen Mo’s gentle massage, Su Yuqing felt some of her tension melt away.

"If you’re tired, lean on me and rest for a bit." With a gentle touch, Chen Mo slowly guided Su Yuqing to lean against him, his hands continuing their soft massage.

But this was a public space, after all. Even though the other students were focused on their studies, they couldn’t help but steal a few glances at the person standing there.

And seeing such an intimate gesture between the two, they couldn’t help but feel a mix of sweetness and envy.

The envy stemmed from wondering why they hadn’t met such a wonderful partner themselves during their high school years.

’How can they be such a perfect match—a brilliant guy and a beautiful girl, a pair seemingly made in heaven?’

Several intense gazes immediately shot in their direction.

Chen Mo paid them no mind.

After easing the discomfort in Su Yuqing’s head, Chen Mo finally sat down and began tutoring her and Zhao Yuanyuan.

Su Yuqing watched Chen Mo as he sat between her and Zhao Yuanyuan, his expression serious as he explained the key points for various types of problems. She listened with rapt attention, completely captivated.

’Will we still have moments like this in the future?’

’With the college entrance exam drawing near, it felt like their time together was numbered.’

’After the exam, what if we get into different universities? Will we have to separate?’

’If we’re in different cities, can we maintain the relationship we’ve built?’

’Everyone says long-distance relationships are the biggest hurdle for a couple, the strongest catalyst for a breakup.’

Su Yuqing couldn’t help but let her mind wander down these anxious paths.

The most crucial thing was the obvious gap between her grades and Chen Mo’s.

No matter what type of problem she gave Chen Mo, he could solve it. For the harder ones, he might have to think for a moment, but for the easier ones, he’d lay out the solution immediately.

This meant that when the exam results came out, there would probably be a significant gap between the universities they could get into.

’No one would give up a top-tier university for a lesser one.’

’Even if Chen Mo were willing, his parents would never allow it.’

’This is about his entire future, after all.’

So the only thing she could do now was to improve as much as she could, to close the gap between her and Chen Mo.

’Right now, a confession through actions was more important than one made with words.’

’Getting closer to him, striving to get closer to him, doing everything in my power to close the distance—that was the most important thing for Su Yuqing right now.’

This silent confession required every bit as much effort and energy as a verbal one.

Once she thought this through, a glimmer of clarity and determination appeared in Su Yuqing’s eyes.

She began to cast aside all distracting thoughts, throwing herself wholeheartedly into her studies.

’Just to be a little closer to him!’

Chen Mo had just finished explaining a problem to Zhao Yuanyuan. When he turned to look at Su Yuqing, a flicker of surprise crossed his face.

He could sense a change in her demeanor, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what it was. He only knew that her current state was a world away from the listlessness he’d seen just moments before.

It was like she’d suddenly been given a shot of adrenaline.

Chen Mo was puzzled by the change in Su Yuqing, but he didn’t ask any questions and simply continued to tutor her diligently.

For the next two days, everything proceeded as usual.

Su Yuqing was no longer secretly writing things down.

She studied diligently every day.

Even at home, or during meals, she was constantly reviewing her study notes.

When Chen Xi saw how hard the girl was working, she felt both gratified and pained.

"Yuqing, it’s good that you’re studying so hard, but you need to make sure you relax, too." Chen Xi had been home a lot recently, and after Su Yuqing had studied for a while, she would get her to do some yoga poses to relax her body and mind.

As they spent more time together over these past few days, Su Yuqing and Chen Xi had grown quite close.

Coupled with Chen Xi’s natural, motherly warmth, Su Yuqing had come to rely on and trust her even more.

While doing yoga, the two would often engage in a bit of women’s talk.

As they grew closer, Su Yuqing finally worked up the courage today to ask a question she’d long been curious about, but was afraid was too forward.

"Auntie, how did you and Uncle get together?" The moment the words left her mouth, Su Yuqing felt she’d been too forward and quickly added in a fluster, "I-I was just asking! It’s okay if you don’t want to answer."

But Chen Xi just gave a knowing smile, seeing right through to what was on Su Yuqing’s mind.

’This girl is clearly getting ready to make a move on my precious son.’

’As his mother, shouldn’t I hurry up and provide an assist?’

She immediately replied with a smile, "Why wouldn’t I talk about that? Actually, back in the day, I was the one who pursued Ah Miao."

"Huh?" Su Yuqing was floored. She never would have imagined that Chen Xi—a woman whose figure, looks, and aura could rival any A-list celebrity—had been the one to pursue Chen Mo’s father.

’Since she was the one who did the chasing, her experience might be really useful for me.’

Su Yuqing, who had been focused on her studies and had temporarily pushed aside such thoughts, suddenly felt like she’d been thrown a lifeline. Her eyes lit up as she gazed at Chen Xi.

"What? Hard to believe?" Chen Xi asked with a smile.

Su Yuqing nodded blankly.

"Hehe, to be honest, I usually tell people that Ah Miao was the one who pursued me. I’m only telling you the real story. Hmm, how should I put it... he’s a bit too reserved, you know? He never says what’s on his mind. He liked me, but he kept it all bottled up. He’d do all sorts of things to win me over, showering me with care and attention, but getting him to actually confess? That was harder than pulling teeth. I really had no choice. I had to be the one to break the ice," Chen Xi said with a teasing smile.
