Chen Mo saw Lin Ranhai, who was hiding in the shadows nearby, replying to a message.

Chen Mo didn’t even need to look to know he was definitely messaging Lin Shiyu.

’Does that mean Lin Shiyu is coming over soon?’

Chen Mo could already picture what was about to happen.

Soon, Chen Mo saw the figure of Zhou Hao appear in a nearby parking shelter.

He was holding an apple and looking out at the downpour, but he didn’t notice Su Yuqing under a nearby rain shelter.

Soon, he received a phone call and quickly left.

He didn’t even leave the knife behind.

Previously, he had spotted Chen Mo and was about to offer him an apple, so he hadn’t put the knife away.

This time, however, he hadn’t seen Chen Mo, so he put the knife away right after peeling the apple.

So, a second knife wasn’t left at the scene.

Next, the homeless man and the delivery driver appeared one by one.

Li Yan, wrapped in a raincoat, crept furtively into a nearby sex shop, looking as guilty as a thief.

It seemed he bought some small toys and contraceptive tools, then quickly left.

People came and went around her, but Su Yuqing just stood numbly, taking shelter from the rain and staring blankly into space.

At this moment, she had no idea where to go or what to do.

The world was vast, yet there was no place for her.

Not knowing where to go, she couldn’t bring herself to take a single step.

After an unknown amount of time, a figure in a raincoat appeared nearby.

The figure wasn’t tall; in fact, they looked rather short.

While Su Yuqing was lost in a daze, the figure slowly walked up to her.

Su Yuqing felt the already faint light in front of her suddenly dim, and she immediately looked up.

She never expected to see her own sister.

"Yaxi?" Su Yuqing looked at her in astonishment.

Chen Mo, who was watching from the side, was also stunned.

He had just assumed Lin Ranhai was contacting Lin Shiyu, but he never would have imagined that the person to show up would be Su Yaxi.

Su Yaxi was Su Yuqing’s half-sister.

The daughter of Su Chengfeng and Lin Shiyu.

’Why is *she* here?’

Chen Mo’s mind was filled with questions. He had never considered the possibility of that girl, Su Yaxi, showing up at the crime scene.

But soon, bits of information flashed through Chen Mo’s mind.

It was some scattered intel he had gathered about Su Yaxi. It seemed she had skipped grades at a young age and had outstanding academic results.

’In other words, Su Yaxi has a sharp mind. You can’t underestimate her just because of her age.’

Previously, Chen Mo had completely overlooked her because of her age.

But he never expected that she would use her mother’s name to bait Lin Ranhai into being her errand boy.

’But would she really get into a conflict with Su Yuqing so severe that it becomes fatal?’ Chen Mo immediately watched on, his curiosity piqued.

"I figured you’d end up homeless today, given your state," Su Yaxi said, looking at Su Yuqing and speaking like an adult.

Su Yuqing had never held any ill will toward her sister, but she was well aware that her sister had always disliked her.

But no matter what, it shouldn’t have come to her being hounded like this.

"Did you come all the way out here in the middle of the night, in this downpour, just to say that?" Su Yuqing stared blankly at her.

"Of course not. I came here to make a few things clear to you," Su Yaxi said, looking at Su Yuqing.

"What things?"

"Don’t come to my house anymore. My mom and I don’t like you. Besides, you have your own father over there now, so why do you have to come and steal mine?" Su Yaxi looked at Su Yuqing with a venomous expression.

"You needed to come out in the middle of the night just to say that?" Su Yuqing looked at Su Yaxi, who showed no respect for her as an older sister, and changed the subject instead of answering.

"Some things have to be said to your face. And I need to leave you with something concrete, to make sure you don’t go back on your word later.

I know you’re homeless right now. I have 1,000 yuan here. I’ll give you this money, and you’ll sign this document severing your paternal relationship.

After that, we’ll have nothing to do with each other."

It was obvious that Su Yaxi, knowing Su Yuqing’s desperate situation, had come up with this plan to force her into doing something she never would have agreed to before.

Like severing ties with her own father.

Spending a little money to buy peace and quiet for the future—Su Yaxi thought it was a great deal.

She was even willing to brave the storm to ensure this transaction was completed.

The reason she had Lin Ranhai follow Su Yuqing until he confirmed she had nowhere to go was to make sure she truly had no other options.

Only then would this agreement be possible.

Although Su Yaxi hadn’t interacted much with this half-sister of hers, she still had a good grasp of Su Yuqing’s personality.

She was the type to be gentle on the outside but tough on the inside.

Unless it was a last resort, she couldn’t be forced into doing most things.

Especially since she clearly valued family ties so much.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have kept coming to their house so often.

Looking at the agreement Su Yaxi handed her.

A bitter smile appeared on Su Yuqing’s face.

She couldn’t believe it. Even when she had hit rock bottom, someone still wanted to kick her while she was down.

There is no greater sorrow than a dead heart. With her spirit crushed like dead ashes, Su Yuqing couldn’t care less about 1,000 yuan. All she cared about now was the last shred of dignity she had left.

"I won’t sign it."

"Su Yuqing, stop dreaming. Haven’t you figured it out yet?" Su Yaxi sneered, mocking her.

"Figured what out?"

"That Dad doesn’t care about you at all! He doesn’t love you! Look at the weather today! It’s storming, and when you left our house, he didn’t even say a single word to ask you to stay. Do you know what that means? It means that in his heart, he doesn’t even consider you his daughter!"

Su Yaxi’s cold words were like poison-laced icicles, stabbing viciously into Su Yuqing’s already-shattered heart.

That phrase, "he doesn’t even consider you his daughter," was nothing new. On the days her mother had her episodes, words like those had bitten at her heart like vipers time and time again.

But now, in the middle of a stormy night, on a street corner where the whole world had abandoned her, when her own sister—her own flesh and blood—declared it with the cruel poise of a victor, her words ringing with finality, Su Yuqing felt a string deep inside her mind, one that had been holding on by a thread, just—SNAP—and break completely.

All the despair from before washed over her like a thick smog, enveloping her entire being!

The cold and helplessness of being shut out by her mother!

The numbness of having nowhere to go, forced to stand in the rain!

The dull ache of her father’s silence as he let her leave!

In a daze, she heard the faint sound of shattering glass. It was the sound of her own heart breaking!
