On a Stormy Night, the Campus Belle Knocked on My Door Seeking Shelter
Chapter 155: Astonishment at the Police Station
The video was rewound to the moment Chen Mo opened the door.
In the footage, just after Chen Mo opened the door and let Li Tie in, Li Tie suddenly attacked.
Instantly, Liu Xin’s eyes narrowed.
Li Tie’s attack was lightning-fast, quicker than the blink of an eye!
If caught off guard, even a veteran officer like himself would have found it difficult to handle such a swift knife attack perfectly on the first move.
But Chen Mo, right there on the scene, handled it with absolute perfection.
Of course, this was mainly because he was fortunate enough to be wearing cut-resistant work gloves.
Chen Mo was seen reaching out with incredible speed to grip the blade. Almost simultaneously, his left fist shot out.
Everyone watching was full of praise for the scene.
"This kid’s skills are insane. If it were me facing that knife, I’d probably just think of dodging, but there’s no way I could’ve avoided it at that range."
"I can’t believe how fierce this kid is. He not only controlled the knife in an instant but also landed a punch right on the guy’s pressure point. What precision! He disabled his attacker’s hand and took the knife in a split second. He’s not just strong, he’s on another level."
"Are high school students nowadays all training themselves to this insane level?"
"That was truly beautiful. His movements were so fluid and decisive, without a single wasted motion. And look at the way he subdued the guy with that arm lock—it’s exactly the same technique we use to restrain suspects!"
As the others were talking, a glint appeared in Liu Xin’s eyes, and he replayed the video.
"Something’s not right," he suddenly muttered.
"What’s not right, Old Liu?" The portly officer in front of the computer scratched his head. "I’ve looked at it closely, and I don’t see any signs of editing. Besides, this is a classic case of a home invasion assault. There’d be no reason to edit it."
"I’m not saying the video is wrong. I’m talking about him." Liu Xin pressed the pause button and pointed his finger at Chen Mo’s face on the screen.
"Of course he’s not normal. What kind of ordinary high schooler has skills like that? He’s definitely had training. It really goes to show that it’s good for young people to learn a few things. Given the speed of that attacker, anyone with lesser skills would have ended up dead or seriously injured."
"That’s not what I’m talking about either. I just find something a little strange," Liu Xin said.
"Strange how?" The others immediately looked at him with curiosity.
"If you were busy with something while wearing gloves and someone knocked on the door, would you take the gloves off before answering, or would you open the door with them still on?" Liu Xin asked the group.
"Take them off."
"Keep them on."
Both answers quickly emerged.
But Liu Xin didn’t mind. He continued, "Exactly. Under normal circumstances, both are possible. If the person at the door is just a brief interruption, we might keep our gloves on."
"But when the visitor is someone you’re about to invite in as a guest, I think most people would take their gloves off before opening the door, right? After all, you’re about to host them."
"Oh, now that you mention it, that does seem right." The others thought for a moment about what they would do in a similar situation.
Even the one who had just said he’d keep them on now agreed he would take them off.
"And even if you didn’t take them off the moment you opened the door, you’d probably take them off right after letting the person in," Liu Xin continued, voicing his suspicion.
"So what are you getting at?"
"I just find it strange why this kid chose to keep his gloves on the entire time. Especially when the visitor is a friend or relative of his own friend—someone he might not know well. In that case, you’d want to make a good impression, or at least be a proper host."
"After all, we might be casual with our close friends, but when we’re facing someone we don’t know well and need to host properly, we’d all try to be more respectful, wouldn’t we?"
"Not taking them off before opening the door is one thing, but after opening the door and inviting someone in, you should definitely take them off."
Liu Xin laid out the basis for his doubt.
It had to be said that a professional police officer’s instincts were far sharper than an ordinary person’s.
From the simple question of whether or not to remove a pair of gloves, Liu Xin was able to deduce so much.
And now, he continued, "Look at the expression on his face."
The group quickly focused their attention on Chen Mo’s expression.
It was a testament to the high resolution of Chen Mo’s home surveillance system, which captured the scene with excessive clarity.
As the officers focused on Chen Mo’s face, they didn’t notice anything unusual—just a serious expression.
"Don’t you find it strange that his face shows no shock or surprise? A friend or relative of his friend comes to drop something off and then suddenly tries to kill him."
"There isn’t the slightest hint of surprise on his face. When attacked, he just gets this serious look and immediately blocks and counters. Isn’t that too strange? It’s as if he knew in advance that this person was going to attack him."
"Combine that with the fact that he never took off his gloves."
"This series of strange circumstances all points to one conclusion: he knew this person was coming to harm him. Otherwise, it’s very difficult to explain his actions and reactions."
Liu Xin analyzed, based carefully on the recording.
After hearing his analysis, the others instantly felt it made perfect sense.
"Then his nerve is just incredible, isn’t it? Knowing someone is coming to harm him, and he still lets them in. Even with cut-resistant gloves, that’s no guarantee of safety. It’s still extremely dangerous."
"Exactly! It’s like he’s gambling with his own life. This kid really is bold because he’s skilled."
"Indeed. Look at his clean and decisive skills. It shows he’s extremely confident in his abilities."
"Furthermore, many of his movements are styled just like what’s taught in the police academy. I wonder if he has a police officer among his friends or family who taught him these things." Liu Xin looked at Chen Mo’s image with great admiration. "To have such composure and decisiveness when facing mortal danger at such a young age... with that mindset and skill, if he ever decides to apply to the police academy, he could become a pillar of our country, a shining star in the force."
Although they had noticed all these oddities about Chen Mo, he was ultimately the victim, not the assailant. So, even though Liu Xin had analyzed his abnormal behavior, he didn’t think any ill of Chen Mo, and the others felt the same.
From the moment they first saw Chen Mo’s skills, their primary reaction was admiration, not suspicion.
Chen Mo knew that submitting this surveillance footage would certainly raise some questions, but many of those questions weren’t entirely unexplainable.
So, he wasn’t afraid.
"With this recording, Li Tie won’t have a leg to stand on, no matter how stubborn he is. Make a copy. We’ll play it for him back in the interrogation room."
