Chapter 1456: Afraid She’ll Lead You Astray; She’s Not Faithful

  • Next Chapter

When Feng Fuce returned, the sun had just hid behind the clouds, starting to rain.

He stepped through the rain and dust, shaking his robe off under the eaves.

Bai Zhi’er was sitting by the window practicing calligraphy, while Cai Ying attended to her.

Both looked up to see Feng Fuce coming back, Cai Ying was more proactive than Bai Zhi’er.

"Brother Lei!" She briskly walked out.

As Lei Hu stood behind Feng Fuce, Cai Ying hurriedly curtsied and paid respect as she passed by Feng Fuce.

"Greetings, sir." Then, turning her gaze to Lei Hu, she whispered, "It’s raining heavily, I just asked Miss if she wanted to take an umbrella to fetch you."

Lei Hu coughed lightly, gesturing to Feng Fuce still being there, signaling Cai Ying to speak less, lest it displeases the Marquis.

Cai Ying was very astute and obediently shut her mouth immediately.

Feng Fuce cast a sidelong glance at Cai Ying, seemingly displeased between his brows.

"It’s raining, you should first close the window for her." He said coolly.

Otherwise, what if Bai Zhi’er catches a cold because of it?

Feng Fuce’s demeanor was sharp and severe, Cai Ying had never seen such a stance, and her legs softened in fear.

"Sir, I know I was wrong, it was my oversight!" She hurriedly knelt down to plead for mercy.

Lei Hu pressed his lips, unsure whether to help plead or remain silent.

Everyone in the Xiuluo Guard knew that usually making small mistakes before the Marquis won’t bother him.

But if it concerns the Princess, then small matters turn big!

Cai Ying wasn’t very clear about Feng Fuce’s inverse scale, this time she was likely going to suffer!

Seeing this, Bai Zhi’er fluttered her long lashes, calling from the window: "Why are you losing your temper, it’s pouring outside, Brother Lei Hu and the others followed you out all day, without letting them rest."

Upon hearing Bai Zhi’er’s words, Feng Fuce finally subdued his hostility.

He said to Lei Hu, "Take this maid away, teach her some manners."

"Yes!" Lei Hu was relieved for Cai Ying.

After all, the Marquis allowing them to leave meant the matter was over.

After they left, Feng Fuce took off his rain-dampened outer robe and walked inside.

Bai Zhi’er put down the brush, but her gaze awkwardly avoided him.

"Last night..." He just started.

Bai Zhi’er hurriedly interrupted: "Madam Fan just came by!"

Feng Fuce raised his eyebrows swiftly: "What did she come for?"

"To deliver a gratitude gift, saying thanks to us for helping her capture the concubine who fled with her child. However, I didn’t accept her gift, she left without saying much."

Feng Fuce pondered for a moment after hearing.

"Next time she comes, if I’m not here, have the housekeeper say you’re unavailable, don’t meet her alone."

"Why? Madam Fan seems not a bad person by appearance, even if she comes again, meeting her alone shouldn’t be an issue."

Bai Zhi’er didn’t sense danger.

She only felt that Fan Xinhui was overly assertive, her face dignified, with even her eye corners and brows exuding calm calculation.

But Feng Fuce said: "I don’t have a good impression of her, afraid she might corrupt you, she is unfaithful."

Bai Zhi’er blinked her round eyes: "Where does this come from?"

"The matter starts from last night." Feng Fuce said, then smiled at her: "But I fear you won’t let me tell."

Bai Zhi’er’s cheeks instantly matched a delicate blush, her bright eyes were lively and black.

Watching Feng Fuce for a moment, she abruptly stood up, ran to close both the window and door.

Then, backed up against the door: "You... you can say it! No matter what I did, it’s not like I’m irresponsible, but don’t spread it around! After all, I was drunk last night."
