Chapter 1906: Chapter 1906

Song Guanchao relayed the content of today’s conversation with President Bao verbatim.

After listening, Cai Zixiang said in a deep voice, "President Bao’s reaction is indeed strange."

Song Guanchao asked, "What is Chairman Yao’s attitude towards this matter?"

He was not sure now if it was President Bao’s problem or if Chairman Yao himself was not optimistic.

If it’s the former, there is still room for negotiation.

If it’s the latter, this trip to Beijing is destined to fail.

Song Guanchao felt that President Bao must be executing Chairman Yao’s attitude.

After all, how could Chairman Yao change his schedule at the last minute for such an important thing as foreign supermarket landing and let someone else attend?

Changing the schedule at the last minute is a sign of not valuing it.

"I didn’t talk to Chairman Yao in detail, but in my opinion, Chairman Yao hopes for the supermarket to be established. He probably really had an unavoidable reason for changing his schedule today." Cai Zixiang’s words gave Song Guanchao peace of mind.

His judgment was based on professional consideration.

"Stay in Beijing a few more days, I’ll ask Chairman Yao and talk to him in detail."

"Okay, sorry to trouble you, Brother Cai."

"If you keep being so distant, I’ll get angry."

"I’ll treat you to a drink next time," Song Guanchao said with a smile.

After hanging up the phone, Song Guanchao felt much more relaxed.

"Knock knock." Someone was knocking at the door.

He thought it was Liang Jiajia, but then realized she had a room card and didn’t need to knock.

He opened the door and saw Zheng Ting standing outside.

"What’s up?" Song Guanchao asked.

Zheng Ting said, "I’ve booked an afternoon flight."

Song Guanchao said, "Stay a couple more days."

Zheng Ting said, "Director Ning just called me. I need to go back to handle work."

"Is it urgent?"

"I have to accompany Secretary Zhou on a business trip."

"Didn’t you tell Director Ning that the work here isn’t finished yet?"

Zheng Ting was puzzled, "Isn’t it already finished?"

Song Guanchao said, "Not yet. I’ll schedule another meeting with Chairman Yao in the next couple of days."

Zheng Ting was visibly doubtful; she had witnessed President Bao’s attitude firsthand today.

The other side absolutely had no intention of coming to Jiangzhou to open a foreign supermarket.

Besides, the initial meeting was supposed to be with Chairman Yao, but he used an excuse to not come last minute.

She didn’t think Song Guanchao could get Chairman Yao to agree to another meeting.

Song Guanchao also figured out what she was thinking, and said, "It’s up to you, whether to go back or stay. I respect your decision."

Although Zheng Ting was very professional, Song Guanchao didn’t consider her indispensable.

"I’ve already told Director Ning I’m going back, it wouldn’t be good to change my word." Zheng Ting didn’t beat around the bush, as she saw staying here a waste of time with no apparent meaning.

"Take care on the way, and send me a message once you land." Song Guanchao didn’t say anything harsh.

Her choice to stay or leave was her own, and Song Guanchao didn’t demand otherwise.

Moreover, while three-legged toads are hard to find, two-legged people are everywhere.

Zheng Ting gave a sound of acknowledgment and went back to her room to pack her things.

Song Guanchao gently closed the door and searched for Lin Wanqiu’s number in his contacts.

In Jiangzhou, he might not be able to easily find a professional like Zheng Ting.

But this was Beijing.

And Beijing never lacks talent.

"What’s up?" Lin Wanqiu’s crisp voice teased Song Guanchao’s ears.

It was as if through the phone, she was using her tongue to tease his earlobe.

"I’m in Beijing."

"Really?" Lin Wanqiu’s voice carried a hint of delight.

She immediately asked, "Business?"

"Officially it’s business." Song Guanchao fully utilized his playboy skills: "This was originally something the Vice Mayor should’ve done. As soon as I heard it was in Beijing, I took over."

Even knowing that Song Guanchao was using sweet talk, Lin Wanqiu fell for it.

After all, only a playboy can meet all a woman’s needs.

Steel men have no clue about caring for a woman’s feelings.

"Stop sweet-talking, tell me what you need," Lin Wanqiu asked.

"Are you busy now? If not, come out. I’m starving."

"Come pick me up... Oh, I forgot, you don’t have a car. Take a cab, I know a nice restaurant."

"Wait for me."

On the way, Song Guanchao called Liang Jiajia, telling her he had a dinner appointment and would be back late.

Soon, he arrived at the foot of the Ministry of Propaganda’s building and easily spotted Lin Wanqiu standing on the curb.

She wore a deep gray skirt suit, her round calves wrapped in black stockings, and held a lace-trimmed parasol. Standing there, she was a bright sight.

Song Guanchao got out of the car and walked toward her, casually wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her into his embrace.

The intimate gesture drew envious looks from passing men.

Lin Wanqiu’s fragile body fell softly, sweetly into his arms, tugging at Song Guanchao’s heartstrings.

"We’re outside," Lin Wanqiu hadn’t expected him to be so bold, making moves right there on the street.

Still, she was quite happy inside.

Song Guanchao raised an eyebrow: "Then let’s go somewhere else. Should I come inside?"

Catching the double entendre in his words, Lin Wanqiu’s face instantly flushed. She twisted his waist with a bit of force: "You’re getting more and more shameless."

Song Guanchao chuckled, "Where’s your car?"

"Over there," Lin Wanqiu looked toward the parking lot not far away.

Once in the car, Lin Wanqiu drove towards the restaurant.

On the way, Song Guanchao’s hands were quite restless, making her unable to apply pressure to the gas pedal.

When they arrived, the dishes were served, and Song Guanchao spoke while eating.

Upon hearing he was here to discuss a collaboration with Walmart, Lin Wanqiu put some faith in his words about stealing the Vice Mayor’s job.

Investment attraction was indeed not a task a director should handle.

"I came in such a rush, without any preparation. I didn’t even find a professional negotiator before meeting their executives."

Wiping the oil from his mouth, Song Guanchao placed his hand on her thigh again: "I just thought of coming to Beijing, didn’t think much through. Then I considered if I mess this up, I wouldn’t get such a chance again. So, you must find me a professional."

Lin Wanqiu rolled her eyes, unable to take him seriously.

"For business negotiations... let me think."

Just as Lin Wanqiu was seriously pondering, she felt his hand make its way under her skirt. Her legs instinctively clenched tight.

His mischief under the skirt made her tremble slightly, her cheeks turning rosy. She quickly looked around, ensuring no one saw, then murmured, "Move your hand away."

Song Guanchao grinned, withdrawing his hand back to her thigh.

Lin Wanqiu shined an embarrassed glare at him, "I know the head of a consulting firm; I’ll ask him for you."

She pulled out a number and made a call.

A few minutes later, after finishing the call, she said, "He has time in the next few days. Once you confirm the time, I’ll arrange a meeting."

Song Guanchao asked, "How much is the consultation fee?"

Since it’s a consulting firm, they’d definitely charge for this kind of work.

"It’s free." Lin Wanqiu lifted her arm, brushing back a strand of her hair: "I did him a favor before; he owes me one."

Song Guanchao replied with an "Oh," squeezed her inner thigh, then said, "Now that we’re done eating and drinking, it’s time for a nap."

Lin Wanqiu’s cheeks turned red again, she pouted, "It’s broad daylight, and that’s all you’re thinking about."

Despite her words, her heart was filled with anticipation, and her body responded in kind.
