Tuesday, continued …

Hou Yi was shocked that Anna returned in tears. When she left the car, there was a plan about how to cope with whatever happened inside, if approached by Lu Jinhu and Yang Lin. He carefully lifted Anna up to put her seat belt on, then let her fall back on to him, crying. All he did was comfort her for a few minutes until he felt her tears lessening.

Hou Yi in a calm, quietly asked "Can you tell me what happened?" As he helped Anna sit back up he noticed the mark across her face, which enraged him. Hou Yi's immediate thought who dared hit his wife, and that he would make them pay. He just held his tongue, as he did not want Anna to realise that he was in love with her for 6 months. He needed her to understand that he wanted her to get everything, which included her revenge.

All Anna could do was continue to cry. Hou Yi reached into the pocket on the back of the seat in front of him and pulled a few tissues out of the box. He handed them Anna, and again asked, in even gentler voice "Can you tell me what happened?"

Hou Yi paused for a couple of seconds "Please let me know so I can help you. While I may not have said it when we married, it is implied that I would help and protect you from anything, regardless of how our marriage started as much as it was implied that you would do the same for me. I need to know what happened so I can do what I can to help you."

With that Hou Yi, put a couple of fingers under Anna's chin and gently lifted her chin up so that she would look at him. As soon as he looked at Anna's eyes he saw the exact hurt that he saw when she crashed into him earlier. He realised immediately the cause, Lu Linhu and Yang Lin.

He decided the best thing he could do was lean in and gently kiss Anna's cheek where it had been slapped and did so. He felt himself trembling with anticipation to give his wife, even this brief kiss. His feelings of having fallen for her on sight returned which made him realise that he was so much further into their relationship than Anna was, and therefore he needed to be brief and careful not to scare the intriguing woman who was his wife.

Hou Yi's brief kiss immediately caused Anna to stiffen. She started to raise her hand to slap the person who dared kiss her, but noticed that it was Hou Yi, and that he did not deserve such a reaction. All she could feel was the physical hurt from the hits and that the mental wall that she had tried to build in marrying Hou Yi was shattered.

Before Anna could open her mouth to say anything, Hou Yi started to talk "Sorry about that, I hope that it did not hurt, as I was trying to avoid the places where it appears that someone slapped you in the face. I figured you needed, given everything to know that someone cares for you."

Hou Yi stopped and took another breath. He held his hands up, so Anna could see them and realise that she was not a threat. He continued "I guess you ran into Lu Jinhu and Yang Lin, and they physically abused and verbally bullied you. I know that they tried to prevent you from getting in the car as they wanted to belittle and abuse you more."

Anna could only nod in response. Hou Yi continued "I think we should go to the police and report the assault."

At this Anna was shaking her head.

Hou Yi then continued "Anna we need to report it, even if you decide not to pursue anything at the moment. You know, as a lawyer that this is right approach, particularly is they continue their actions, then something can me done."

"I know, I would tell my clients to do that, but …"

"No buts. I will arrange for a police officer to at least come and take your statement at home, once we deal with a couple of matters."

"Ok," was Anna's resigned response.

She seemed ready to say something else, when their discussion was interrupted by Assistant Wang "Young Master, Young Madam, we have arrived at Fengs." With that he brought the car to a stop, turned the engine off, and came around to open the door, and assisted Anna getting out of the vehicle.
