Chapter 613 - 264: I Overestimated You
Chapter 613: Chapter 264: I Overestimated You
This was the very punch he had comprehended on the ship’s bow some time ago.
The punch flew like the wind, weaving like a dragon.
In an instant, it carved a white line across the surface of the sea. The immense force tore through the water, kicking up twisting trails that looked like intertwining dragons.
The man in black on the bamboo raft heard the unnatural whistle of the wind behind him and knew something was wrong. Without even daring to turn his head, he leaped into the air.
There was a loud CRASH!
The man in black was fast enough to dodge, escaping the blow.
But the bamboo raft shattered to pieces under the might of the Fist Force.
’This guy doesn’t play by the book at all! Who just charges straight at you like that?’ the man in black cursed wildly in his head.
But he had no time to worry about that now.
He snatched up the broken bamboo poles, grabbing and tossing them one after another to create a makeshift path across the water.
He landed on the poles, his feet tapping nimbly across them until he reached the one at the very front. There, he stopped and used his Inner Strength to propel it forward.
Though not as fast as before, his pace was still quick.
Meanwhile, Fang Shuwen had already caught Xia Weiyuan as she fell from the sky.
This time, Xia Weiyuan latched onto Fang Shuwen’s arm with a death grip, as if she wouldn’t let go even if thunder struck.
Fang Shuwen knew that if he wanted to pull the same trick again, he’d probably have to throw Luo Shuqing next.
But Luo Shuqing seemed to have anticipated him. Perfectly mimicking Xia Weiyuan, she looked up to meet Fang Shuwen’s gaze.
The look peeking through the eyeholes of her mask was filled with stubborn defiance.
The message was clear: ’Don’t you even think about throwing me!’
’So they’re just permanent arm attachments now, huh?’ Fang Shuwen was speechless.
Since throwing people was off the table, Fang Shuwen simply activated his Cloud Passing Body Technique. He shot forward, disappearing in a streak of light. A single leap carried him dozens of yards.
In just a few flashes, he reached the spot where the raft had been destroyed.
He landed perfectly on one of the bamboo poles.
He had long been envious of how these people propelled their vessels.
There wasn’t much of a secret to it. Put simply, it was just a matter of channeling Inner Strength into the object beneath one’s feet to push against the water. The stronger the Inner Strength, the faster the speed.
Fang Shuwen circulated his Inner Strength, and True Qi flowed down to the bamboo pole under his feet. The next moment, the pole shot forward like an arrow released from its bow, carrying the three of them as it churned up enormous waves and hurtled onward.
Xia Weiyuan risked a glance back at the massive wake they were creating and her eyes widened in shock.
The man in black up ahead, still frantically trying to escape, also looked back and was instantly terrified.
Then he heard Fang Shuwen shout:
"Friend up ahead, why don’t you stay for a chat?"
How could the man dare to stay? He certainly didn’t want to chat with Fang Shuwen. He remained silent, desperately channeling his Inner Strength.
He didn’t even dare to utter a single word in reply.
But no matter what he did, he could only watch helplessly as Fang Shuwen closed the distance between them.
In a fit of rage, he flung out several Shuttle Darts.
Fang Shuwen was delighted by this. He circulated his Inner Breath, and the Twelve-Gate Golden Bell Shield instantly enveloped his body.
TING! TING! TING! WHOOM! WHOOM! WHOOM!
The resonant sound of a great bell rose up, and the Shuttle Darts were sent flying right back the way they came.
The man ahead was terrified. He barely managed to dodge a few of the darts, but two still struck him.
They didn’t pierce his flesh, mainly because he hadn’t thrown the Shuttle Darts with lethal intent.
He had only wanted to slow Fang Shuwen down.
Therefore, the force of the rebound from Fang Shuwen’s Buddhist Thunder Sound was limited.
Even so, having a Hidden Weapon lodge in your body was no small matter.
Blood splashed into the sea as the man in the bamboo hat struggled to stay on his feet.
But after that exchange, his speed inevitably faltered.
’If I’d known, I wouldn’t have thrown those darts. I might have had a chance to struggle,’ he cursed himself inwardly.
Instead, throwing them had only made things worse.
He tried to urge the bamboo pole forward again, but in the blink of an eye, Fang Shuwen was upon him. He leaped into the air, aiming a flying kick straight at the man’s face.
The man, barely balanced on the pole, crossed his arms and let out a furious roar.
The sound of a dragon’s roar echoed as True Qi swirled around him, drawing up seawater into a flowing curtain that then coiled into the shape of a water dragon.
With a thrust of his palms, the water dragon shot forth.
BANG!
Fang Shuwen’s flying kick landed, and the water dragon instantly disintegrated.
Before the man’s expression could even change, a sound like tearing silk rang out as the bamboo hat on his head was shattered by the force.
The momentum didn’t stop there. The kick continued its path, landing squarely on the man’s head.
With a dull THUD, the man was kicked into the air. He tumbled a few times before crashing into the sea with a huge SPLASH.
Fang Shuwen had been unusually merciful this time; logically, the man shouldn’t be dead.
But he still frowned.
"You couldn’t even take a single kick from me? I guess I overestimated you..."
Fang Shuwen had actually based the power of that kick on Luo Wenzhou’s Martial Arts proficiency.
By his estimation, his opponent should have been able to at least partially block it.
But now it seemed the gap between this man’s Martial Arts and Luo Wenzhou’s was enormous.
’Is he really a Chenlong Guard?’
Fang Shuwen landed smoothly on the bamboo pole and set Luo Shuqing and Xia Weiyuan down on either side of him.
It gave them a small, stable place to stand on the vast sea.
Only then did he turn his attention to the water. After a moment’s observation, he reached out. With a great SPLASH, he hauled the man out of the sea.
With his bamboo hat gone, the man’s true face was revealed.
Fang Shuwen didn’t recognize him, so he turned to Xia Weiyuan.
"Do you know this person?"
Xia Weiyuan had only just managed to compose herself. Hearing Fang Shuwen’s question, she glanced at the man, and her expression changed dramatically.
"Elder Liu!?"
"So he really is from your Celestial Prison Island?" Fang Shuwen asked.
Xia Weiyuan nodded.
"He is one of the twelve Elders of my Celestial Prison Island...
"Did you... did you kick him to death?"
