Chapter 515: Chapter 232: Chaos and the Daoist Priest

Fang Shuwen felt that kids these days were all so inexplicably dramatic.

He had clearly beaten Sikong Cheng to death.

So how had that turned into him being scared to death?

’Admittedly... I did take off my mask, and he did recognize me, shout "Human World Demon God," and then die.’

’But that doesn’t mean I scared him to death, right?’

However, seeing Luo Shuqing and the other two look over at him with trepidation because of Zhou Zhengze’s comment...

Fang Shuwen decided an explanation wasn’t necessary.

’The more you explain, the more people believe it’s true.’

Looking at the corpses of the masters, Fang Shuwen told everyone to take off their outer robes and pick out some fitting clothes from the bodies.

"But don’t touch the one who used poison..."

The man was still breathing, but his body was black and purple all over. He probably didn’t have much longer.

Fang Shuwen sighed.

"My biggest weakness is that I’m just too soft-hearted."

As he spoke, he picked up Ji Changzui’s short sword. With a flick of his wrist, he sent the blade straight into Su Changyu’s forehead.

A mercy kill, putting a complete end to his suffering.

Zuo Xuan took a step back and suddenly asked Zuo Hong in a low voice,

"Do you think Hero Fang holds a grudge?"

Zuo Hong thought for a moment before replying earnestly,

"I don’t know."

She was a practical girl. To be frank, she really didn’t know.

Fang Shuwen’s gaze swept over to Sikong Cheng. ’Even though I killed him, he didn’t die the moment my palm struck...’ He was conflicted for a moment. ’Should I give him one more for good measure?’

Just then, Luo Shuqing’s voice reached him.

"Um, my outer robe... do I have to take it off too?"

Fang Shuwen froze, then gave Luo Shuqing a look of pure exasperation.

"What do you think?"

"Then... then probably not."

Luo Shuqing lowered her head slightly.

"Since you know, hurry up and find some suitable clothes to put on."

"We’re done killing people. It’s time to go."

Fang Shuwen picked out a set of clothes and put them on. After another glance at Sikong Cheng’s corpse, he still couldn’t help himself and struck it with his palm.

Only after smashing his head to pieces did Fang Shuwen feel completely at ease.

’When it comes to delivering a finishing blow,’ Fang Shuwen thought, ’I might be a little obsessive-compulsive.’

Zuo Xuan’s face grew even paler. ’This Hero Fang doesn’t even spare corpses.’

But after looking around, he couldn’t help but ask,

"Hero Fang... what now? If we just walk out, we’ll never be able to fool them."

As he spoke, he subconsciously tried to guess Fang Shuwen’s plan.

’With Fang Shuwen’s personality and martial arts, he must be having us change clothes to make the enemy drop their guard, making it easier to launch a surprise attack.’

’After all, this grandmaster’s specialty was getting straight to the fight... He couldn’t care less about whether it was a "sneak attack" or not.’

But Fang Shuwen didn’t do what he expected. Instead, he told them to take the oil lamps in the room and use them to light fires in the most flammable spots.

In just a few moments, raging flames engulfed the entire inner hall.

Fang Shuwen told them to cover their faces and follow him as he ran outside.

With a loud CRASH, he smashed through the doors of the inner hall. Fang Shuwen then bellowed at the top of his lungs,

"Fire!!"

"Someone, quick! Put out the fire!!"

The sound carried in all directions, and the guards who had retreated moments before immediately rushed over.

The guards saw Fang Shuwen and his group walking forward, covering their mouths and noses. A muffled voice called out,

"Quick, quick! The Island Master is dead drunk inside! Hurry and put out the fire, save him!"

The fire was raging, fanned by the wind.

It was already beginning to spread to the surrounding structures. In this moment of crisis, no one stopped to think too hard about it. The Island Master’s martial arts were peerless; even if he was dead drunk, how could he be trapped by a mere fire?

They scrambled to find ways to fight the blaze.

Some grabbed buckets to fetch water, while others threw sandbags directly into the inferno.

Being on an island, there was certainly no shortage of sand.

However, a persistent north wind was blowing that night. The flames, caught by the gusts, seemed to blossom in every direction.

It took a Herculean effort from the many master guards on the island just to bring the blaze under control.

By the time they had completely extinguished the fire in the inner hall, more than an hour had passed.

They rushed into the ruins of the inner hall, and one look around was enough to make them feel like their world was ending.

They counted them one by one. There were exactly seven charred corpses, not one more, not one less.

For a moment, they could only stare at each other in dismay.

It was clearly the Island Master and his six top masters.

But if they had died in here, then who were the people who had run out just a short while ago?

...

...

Chaos erupted on Nameless Island.

The incident at Sikong Villa was not kept secret. No one even had the presence of mind to try and cover it up.

With Sikong Cheng dead, many people were plunged into a state of bewilderment and panic.

The news spread like wildfire.

Sikong Cheng had no wife or children. The only ones qualified to succeed him as Island Master were his six top masters.

As it turned out, they had proven themselves to be Sikong Cheng’s most loyal confidants by accompanying him in death.

The other Stewards of Nameless Island were all more or less on the same level.

At first, they gathered to discuss what to do.

They tried to figure out what had happened that night...

But nobody knew.

They asked if any strangers had been spotted at Sikong Villa.

There were... but they were the Island Master’s honored guests. No one knew anything more than that.

And where were these honored guests now?

That was an even bigger mystery...

Met with complete ignorance at every turn, the Stewards could only look at each other in dismay.

An investigation was impossible. There wasn’t a single clue.

The situation had been too chaotic. Even if Sikong Cheng’s killers had left any traces, they would have been trampled away during the effort to put out the fire.
