Yohan did his best to sneak through the camp quietly. In the end, there wasn’t much need for it since there was no one else in sight.

Other than the two men he’d already encountered, everyone else seemed to be asleep inside their houses.

’Everyone except this guy.’

He stopped a fair distance from the gate and hid behind a large tree.

Volcan—the man he’d fought earlier—was sitting on the ground with his back resting against the wooden gate.

His eyes were shut, and his body was completely still.

But Yohan could tell.

He was awake.

"Do you plan on just staring all night?" Volcan called out casually.

He barely seemed to raise his voice, yet Yohan heard him as clearly as if he were standing right beside him.

"What the hell..."

It took Yohan a moment to collect himself before stepping out from his hiding spot.

’I already had a hunch I wasn’t getting out of here without facing him.’

He approached the gate with calm confidence.

"Kindly return to your resting quarters," Volcan said, his eyes still closed.

"What if I want to use the bathroom?" Yohan asked, a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

"Then there’s a general toilet at the back."

Volcan finally opened his eyes and looked at him.

"If you want, I can show you."

His fierce gaze carried enough hostility to start a war. Even Yohan, with all his confidence, felt a little intimidated.

"T-That won’t be necessary. I don’t feel comfortable with another man watching me go."

Yohan gave a small, friendly grin.

"I’ll just go grab something from my car and be right back."

"I’m afraid that won’t be possible."

Volcan’s expression remained unchanged.

"Once these gates are closed, it is my duty to make sure they only open when they are supposed to."

"Well, those are your rules, not mine. So get out of my way." Yohan said bluntly.

Honestly, this guy was starting to freak him out.

He was hairy enough to make him look older, but without that, Volcan actually looked far younger than Yohan initially assumed. They could almost pass for the same age.

Yet here he was, sitting in front of a gate in the middle of the night like some kind of kung fu master.

And his aura...

It was off the charts.

Yohan could almost feel how much of a drag fighting him would be.

"Did you not hear me?"

This time, Yohan’s voice carried a little more weight.

Volcan stared at him silently for several seconds.

Then he pushed himself to his feet.

"It seems you have made your choice."

"No, wai—"

Yohan barely saw him move.

Volcan’s body blurred from side to side like a glitch.

Then he was suddenly right in front of him.

Yohan twisted his head at the last possible second.

A fist shot past his face.

’Shit! It’s straight to overkill right from the jump!’

A series of blows followed.

Yohan dodged one after another, but each time he did, Volcan’s attacks became faster.

Stronger.

The two gradually fell into a rhythm, their movements becoming a blur as they exchanged attacks.

Yohan finally saw what looked like an opening.

He threw a jab straight toward Volcan’s face.

But he hit nothing.

Volcan had stepped far to the right.

And somehow, he was already behind him.

Before Yohan could process what had happened, Volcan’s hand came swinging toward him.

His four fingers were raised and pressed tightly together, shaped almost like a blade slicing through the air.

Yohan didn’t have enough time to raise his arm.

The strike missed him by several inches.

Yet—

A sharp pain suddenly tore across his torso.

Yohan stumbled backward.

He looked down.

A thin slash had appeared across his body.

It wasn’t deep, but it stung badly, and blood was already soaking through his shirt.

’H-How?’

Questions echoed through his mind.

What exactly had just happened?

’He didn’t even touch me...’

For a brief moment, reality seemed to slow down.

This wasn’t like his own techniques.

This was different.

It was almost like an actual superpower.

But Yohan quickly forced himself back into the moment.

He was in a life-or-death situation.

There was no time to dwell on something so pointless.

He immediately prepared for another attack.

This time, instead of trying to counter, he made sure to put as much distance between them as possible.

It didn’t matter.

Volcan still managed to cut his leg.

’Wait.’

Yohan’s eyes narrowed.

’It’s not a pointless fact.’

If he could figure out how Volcan’s technique worked, he might be able to find a way to shut it down.

A second later, Volcan was right in front of him again.

This time, Yohan didn’t attack when he saw the opening.

Instead, he focused on the incoming hand.

He wanted to stop it.

It was a dangerous gamble.

He was essentially trying to catch a sword without knowing where the blade ended.

’It could be that his hands are actually blades...’

The thought crossed his mind.

’Maybe my hand will split apart once they come together.’

But Yohan quickly dismissed it.

He was already starting to understand.

As Volcan’s hand came swinging down, Yohan stepped forward instead of backward.

He raised his hand and blocked the strike.

A powerful gush of wind burst downward as their hands collided.

It carried force.

But not more than Yohan could handle.

Volcan immediately took several steps backward.

His expression remained as fierce and intimidating as ever.

But somehow...

He didn’t look quite as scary anymore.

Yohan stared at his own hand.

Then at Volcan.

That last attack had confirmed his suspicion.

He finally understood how the technique worked.

"I’ve figured you out."

A proud smirk spread across Yohan’s face.

Volcan’s brows furrowed. "What?"

"Your special technique." Yohan pointed at him, "It has something to do with wind, right?"

"Special technique?" Volcan’s brows drew together even further.

"You know what I’m talking about." Yohan’s voice was filled with absolute certainty.

For the first time, Volcan’s emotionless expression cracked.

A small grin appeared on his face.

The exact same grin Yohan had seen when he first entered the gate.

"Fine."

Volcan straightened his posture.

"You caught me." His grin widened.

"Now what are you going to do?"
