Nine Star Hegemon Body Arts
Chapter 7293 Nervousness
Long Chen and Miao Yin brought the unconscious Shi Yu back to Wind Bell Valley. A loud explosion rang out behind them. The passageway twisted violently and then disappeared.
Gao Qian hastily ran over, and his expression changed when he saw Shi Yu unconscious. “Dean Long Chen, is Shi Yu...”
Long Chen nodded, looking at him with approval. Gao Qian truly was different from the valley master. That man only cared about the now; Gao Qian cared about Wind Bell Valley’s tomorrow. Shi Yu was Wind Bell Valley’s future, yet the valley master would rather sacrifice her to save face now. It looked as if he cared about the big picture, but the truth was that he was acting selfishly due to his own cowardice.
“She’s fine. She isn’t injured, just unconscious,” explained Long Chen.
Gao Qian sighed in relief. Shi Yu was Wind Bell Valley’s most outstanding disciple, and if something happened to her, then the future of Wind Bell Valley would be cast in darkness.
Just then, Shi Yu rose and looked around in horror. When she saw that she was back in Wind Bell Valley, she felt like she had just woken up from a nightmare.
Then, one elder worriedly stepped forward—the vice gate master of the Violet Cloud Gate, Lu Mingzhou. “Master Long, did you learn anything?” ⅇℓ.
Long Chen stared at him coldly. He didn’t say a word, causing everyone to grow nervous.
Lu Mingzhou was more nervous than anyone, to the point where he was beginning to shiver. He was starting to regret speaking up.
Long Chen glowered at Lu Mingzhou, and icy killing intent shrouded him. “Don’t tell me that you don’t know what your Violet Cloud Gate did.”
Lu Mingzhou’s apparent calm instantly shattered. “Master Long Chen, the Violet Cloud Gate has never offended you! We didn’t do anything! If you don’t believe me, I can swear an oath on my sect—”
“Alright, swear,” snapped Long Chen.
Everyone was startled. Long Chen really wanted Lu Mingzhou to pledge an oath!
Lu Mingzhou was also stunned. He was just saying the usual words to profess innocence; normally, if someone said that they would swear an oath, that would end the questioning. Actually asking someone to carry out a formal oath with their sect as a collateral was a huge insult; it practically guaranteed becoming mortal enemies. Long Chen didn’t seem to care about that, however.
Lu Mingzhou stuttered. “M-master Long, I—”
Long Chen coldly said, “You what? You don’t dare to? Don’t worry, any oath you make will definitely be fulfilled. I swear it!”
Large beads of sweat rolled off of Lu Mingzhou’s head. He was no fool. He knew that the Violet Cloud Gate was doomed. Thus, in front of everyone’s shocked gazes, he directly knelt on the ground.
“Tell me everything you know. If you really didn’t do anything, I can spare your life!” ordered Long Chen frostily.
“Master Long, I really didn’t do anything! It’s just that my big brother was set on going his own way...” Lu Mingzhou was practically weeping in front of everyone as he explained.
Lu Mingzhou’s big brother, Lu Chengzhou, the current gate master, had received a mysterious guest over a month before all this happened. Once this mysterious guest left, Lu Chengzhou’s cultivation suddenly advanced—he was a bare fraction away from becoming a Heavenly Sovereign!
Lu Chengzhou had only shared this secret with Lu Mingzhou. According to him, this person was a major figure, and he could also help Lu Mingzhou become a Heavenly Sovereign. The latter only needed to do one small thing and his advancement was only a matter of time.
Although Lu Mingzhou’s cultivation base was high, the truth was that he didn’t have the guts to do anything big. He didn’t have the courage to take responsibility for others either. Had it not been for Lu Chengzhou having absolute trust in him, he wouldn’t have been qualified to be the vice gate master.
According to Lu Mingzhou, this mysterious person had told them to bring a certain object into the passageway, but Lu Chengzhou hadn’t told him what the object was. Lu Mingzhou had started feeling uneasy at that time, but Lu Chengzhou was in high spirits after having his power soar. Lu Mingzhou didn’t want to disappoint his elder brother, so he didn’t say anything.
The result was known to all by now: Wind Bell Valley ended up taking a massive loss, and all the forces that had sent disciples to assist also took severe casualties—the High Firmament Academy, most of all.
When he found out about this, Lu Mingzhou immediately had a bad feeling. He wanted to ask his elder brother about it, but Lu Chengzhou had actually gone into seclusion to consolidate his cultivation, leaving him panicking over what to do.
Lu Mingzhou was the only one aware of this matter. He had no one to discuss it with. After wracking his brain, he suddenly received an invitation to go investigate along with some of the other sects that had taken losses in that battle. He immediately thought that the best course of action was to join everyone and see how to proceed based on what happened there.
If Lu Chengzhou had been present, there was no way he would have let Lu Mingzhou go. Yet he was not there; as a result, Lu Mingzhou ended up meeting Long Chen, and Long Chen’s killing intent terrified him. He was no master schemer, and his nervousness was immediately apparent. He instantly revealed a clue.
“Lu Mingzhou, you are asking for death!”
After hearing his story, everyone was outraged. They wanted to tear him to pieces.
“It’s not my fault! I didn’t do anything! Master Long Chen, please protect me!”
Lu Mingzhou was pale and hastily pleaded with Long Chen. Miao Yin shook her head. She had seen plenty of cowardly people, but it was rare for them to reach such a level. He had just sold out his own brother without any sense of shame or guilt, only to preserve his own life. It was such a high degree of cowardice that it could almost be considered a skill.
The other people present started roaring in outrage. “Master Long Chen, our disciples can’t be at peace unless we avenge them! Let us go with you to the Violet Cloud Gate!”
Gao Qian was also incensed to hear the truth of the matter, but he also sighed in relief on the inside. With this, the responsibility would be lifted from Wind Bell Valley. They were saved.
With the truth revealed, Shi Yu wept from joy. Long Chen had just proved their innocence. She was incredibly grateful to him, and she even began entertaining some other feelings.
However, she knew that she wasn’t qualified to even think about a relationship with Long Chen. Even though she was a fairly well-known beauty in her own right, comparing herself to Miao Yin felt much like comparing manure to the flowers that grew from it. Miao Yin was not just beautiful, her power had also reached a level that Shi Yu could only look up to. She couldn’t stay anywhere near people like that; all she could do was revere them from a distance.
Meanwhile, Miao Yin coldly watched as everyone began to demand justice. She felt disgusted. Even this outrage of theirs was feigned; they were merely scheming how to get a share out of the Violet Cloud Gate when Long Chen destroyed it. Clearly, the Violet Cloud Gate was a fatter sheep than Wind Bell Valley.
One minute, these people would call others brothers and they would feast together. The next moment, when the “brothers” were down, they revealed their fangs and began to plot how to take as large a bite as they could. From start to finish, everything they did was disgusting. If they were the hope of humanity, then humanity truly had no hope.
Someone had already prepared a flying boat. Long Chen didn’t bother putting a polite fa?ade; he directly jumped on. Shi Yu hesitated about going along, but Gao Qian pushed her to join him. After all, Long Chen was the number one genius of the human race. For one, just being able to stand with him was a great honor. For another, it would appear to outsiders that she had gotten close to him. Anyone who had placed their sights on Wind Bell Valley would have to first decide if they had the guts.
Miao Yin smiled slightly when she saw that. She immediately pulled Shi Yu beside her, making her feel overwhelmed. Shi Yu didn’t dare to say anything at such a serious time; she only gave Miao Yin a grateful look.
The flying boat set off, and even from miles away, those who had remained behind could still feel the killing intent radiating off of it.
