Nine Star Hegemon Body Arts

Chapter 6656 Storm Clouds Approach

Chapter 6656 Storm Clouds Approach

Long Chen’s question alarmed Zhan Tu.

Zhan Tu hastily replied, “Brother, don’t say such a thing. Any sect or faction will end up with some internal conflicts after growing to a certain size. You can’t judge the Starry River Palace based on what you just saw.”

Hearing that, Long Chen felt a bit more at ease. I

If the Starry River Palace were truly as rotten as he feared, the situation would become extremely troublesome.

After all, Long Chen did not possess the strength to provide sanctuary for the nine star disciples arriving from the nine heavens into the Primal Chaos World.

The four Starlight Heavenly Sovereigns’ factions would be the best choice for them. Even if they had to suffer some bullying and pain, it wasn’t important. Survival was what truly mattered.

On the surface, Long Chen’s actions today appeared reckless, even provocative. But in reality, he had acted only after careful consideration. He had his own goals.

However, his goals relied on the premise that the Starry River Palace’s foundation had not decayed beyond repair.

The warship finally came to a halt after passing through another barrier. Ahead lay a long, straight channel with shimmering starlight. Long Chen and the others couldn’t see its end.

“Qing Yi, you should take everyone to register and receive their tablets,” Zhan Tu said. “You’ve brought back quite a few people this time. Lu Yin has definitely gone to report you, so I should head over as well. Otherwise, if they only hear her biased account, they might believe it.”

After saying that, Zhan Tu also left, flying straight for an inner palace.

“Long Chen, Big Brother Zhan Tu is a good person. He has always welcomed me and the disciples from the nine heavens. His status amongst the inner palace Elders is also very high. He is an upright and courageous man,” Qing Yi said as Zhan Tu vanished into the distance.

The Starry River Palace was split into inner and outer palaces, much like the inner and outer academies of the High Firmament Academy. After all, the cultivation world was never kind—greater resources demanded greater strength.

The outer palace Elders were then split into three divisions: law enforcers, teachers, and attendants.

The law enforcers resembled those of the High Firmament Academy, but they also bore responsibility for regularly teaching the Starry River Palace’s rules.

The instructors guided and supported the disciples’ cultivation and were ranked below the law enforcers.

As for the attendants, though they were also Elders, they were actually only errand runners.

When Qing Yi first arrived, the higher-ups learned that she had participated in the primal chaos war and had fought the Six Horn Fiend Fly for countless years. They felt like she should be rewarded. Adding on her talent and character, they provided her with plenty of resources.

After she had become a Sovereign Lord, they even skipped the normal protocol and promoted her to an attendant Elder.

Although this position was not high amongst the Elders, the monthly resources she got were still significant.

Qing Yi had always felt grateful to the Starry River Palace. That was why she endured Lu Tian’s harassment in silence—she saw it as repayment for the aid she had received.

Lu Yin and Zhan Tu, however, were different. They were inner palace elders. The minimum requirement for that status was the Divine Sovereign realm.

Their position was very high, but Zhan Tu often moved between the inner and outer palaces, as he was in charge of their various trials.

Due to Zhan Tu’s upright character, he disdained abusing his position for status or wealth. Under his supervision, cheating was impossible, and no one dared provide special treatment.

Zhan Tu was very welcoming toward new disciples, and so most of the disciples—particularly those who came from the nine heavens—loved and respected him.

“Line up properly! Don’t make a fuss. Come take your status plates in an orderly fashion!” shouted one of the attending Elders.

They soon reached the next checkpoint.

“Lord Long Chen, you should go first!”

Quite a few people ahead of Long Chen immediately gave him their spots.

“There are no ‘lords’ here!” the elder in charge of registration barked. “Leave that nonsense back in the nine heavens—”

His voice abruptly stopped when his eyes met Long Chen’s gaze.

“Keep shouting,” Long Chen said coldly, “and I’ll pluck out your teeth one by one.”

Long Chen had been about to decline politely, but this Elder’s contemptuous tone instantly provoked him.

More than ten disciples behind this Elder stepped forward in anger.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” shouted one of them.

“It’s nothing, nothing at all!” the elder hastily said. “I was a bit loud just now. Elder Qing Yi, please accept my apology. I didn’t realize it was you.”

As the Elder smiled and waved them through, he shivered inside. The moment Long Chen’s killing intent locked onto him, his soul almost fled his body. He almost pissed himself.

For a brief moment, the Elder truly thought he was about to go see his ancestors.

He was not foolish enough to continue posturing.

In any case, by acting courteous to Qing Yi, he didn’t lose face. Though they were both attendant elders, his own status was even lower. He was nothing more than a random worker.

The registration process concluded quickly.

They received status plates forged from special immortal metal, heavy in the hand. On the front was engraved a palace surrounded by a starry river; on the back was each disciple’s name.

The formations inside the plates required only a trace of Blood Qi to activate. Once triggered, the plates allowed them to claim their entrance rewards.

These rewards included medicinal pills, spirit stones, robes, and more. Long Chen’s attention was immediately drawn to the pills.

“These pills contain astral energy,” he murmured.

As a master of the Pill Dao, Long Chen could tell at a glance. However, after breaking into the Sovereign Lord realm, he had yet to awaken any pill formulas for this stage.

Still, he was not worried about it. He had seen a new path for himself and was in no rush to increase his realm.

“These are Star Lord Nourishing Pills,” Qing Yi explained when she saw Long Chen’s interest. “They can raise the cultivation base of Sovereign Lords and aid in comprehending laws. They’re foundational pills, but in this realm, it’s more important to comprehend laws. If one raises their realm too quickly and their comprehension can’t keep up, they will be putting the cart before the horse and wasting their potential.”

“Xue Ying, does your side also distribute medicinal pills?” transmitted Long Chen.

“Yes. Their quality is also higher. But just as she said, we can’t depend too much on medicinal pills in the Sovereign Lord realm,” answered Xue Ying.

“When we have time, let me see your medicinal pills,” Long Chen said with a nod.

He wanted to compare the differences between the factions’ pills.

After everyone received a tablet, under Qing Yi’s guidance, they arrived at a transportation gate. They then passed through it and arrived at an immense mountain.

This mountain was completely barren, without a single blade of grass growing on it. However, this desolate mountain had countless small platforms built on top of it.

Each platform was only about the size of a table. On some of them sat nine star disciples in meditation.

Looking a bit apologetic, Qing Yi said, “Long Chen, this may feel uncomfortable for you. But without passing the outer disciple trial, everyone will have to cultivate here first. Every platform has its own formations. As long as you insert a special astral spirit stone in a platform, it will activate the formation and connect to the starry river’s power.

“Although it is the simplest, lowest level of formation, you shouldn’t underestimate it. Not only can it help everyone recover their injuries, but it also lets them comprehend astral laws. It is extremely beneficial.”

“Elder Qing Yi, there’s no need to apologize,” a female disciple said with a smile. “Back in the nine heavens, we were hunted every day. Just having a safe place like this is already enough for us.”

She didn’t seem to mind this place at all.

Just then, Qing Yi’s tablet lit up, and her expression changed slightly. After telling everyone to find their own spots to cultivate, she rushed off.

Clearly, the higher-ups had started investigating the earlier incident. Qing Yi could not remain here.

Seeing this simple and crude cultivation ground, many disciples were still smiling happily.

“Good, we’ll have a safe home now!” exclaimed one of them.

“Safe?” A mocking voice suddenly rang out. “You vagrants from the nine heavens think this is some beggars’ den, stealing scraps from the mouths of those who actually work?”
