Chapter 6422 Soulsearch
Chapter 6422 Soulsearch
Long Chen’s attack not only split apart the fortress but also killed the ancestral spirit of the Black Rock Heaven Swallowing Python race inside of it. As the city started to crumble, Grand Dao energy billowed out of it.
After this ancient fortress had been built, the creator seized the good fortune of heaven and earth and injected it into its core. Thus, with its destruction, its essence burst free.
The Earth Cauldron had been waiting for this and absorbed the released energy. In any case, the fortress’s item-spirit had already perished, so this destruction was, in a sense, its liberation.
At this moment, Long Chen raised his hand and dragged a figure out of the void.
That figure was Mo Zhan—at least, half of him. His Sovereign flame energy was nonexistent, and the fire of his soul was flickering like a candle in the wind. He was already standing at death’s door, beyond salvation.
“999 Sovereign flames... their power is truly terrifying,” Long Chen muttered to himself, nodding.
Long Chen had deliberately held back, sparing Mo Zhan just to interrogate him. However, the power of his attack was so immense that, had Mo Zhan not dodged, even the shockwave would have been enough to kill him several times over.
Long Chen’s violet bloodline was the least destructive of his three; it did not specialize in offense. Even so, its might was overwhelming. He couldn’t even imagine the devastation he could unleash if he’d used his dragon blood or Supreme Blood instead.
However, both of those bloodlines were still rampaging uncontrollably within Long Chen, making them dangerous to use. For now, he relied on his violet blood. It would let him better harmonize with his Sovereign flames and slowly purify the chaos within his other bloodlines.
He believed that it wouldn’t be long before he could control them again.
“Long Chen... the Black Rock Heaven Swallowing Python race will not let you off...” Mo Zhan rasped, his face twisted with hatred. Even though Long Chen was holding his throat and he knew he was about to die, he showed no fear.
“Just wait for our bloody retribution! We have eight great branches across the nine heavens, countless heavenly geniuses—”
He coughed up a mouthful of blood but continued through gritted teeth, “In the Primal Chaos World, our ancestor stands guard! Whether in the nine heavens or the Primal Chaos World, you’ll find no place to live! Ha... ha...”
Mo Zhan tried to laugh, but he didn’t have the power to.
“I was planning to ask you a few questions and then let you die with dignity. But since that was the case, I won’t stand on courtesy,” said Long Chen.
“Zhi Zhi!”
Mo Zhan’s whole body suddenly started to twitch violently. His skin bulged and writhed as if countless serpents were crawling beneath it.
At this moment, it was as if new life had been forced into Mo Zhan’s body. Even his flickering soul flame started to stabilize.
“What are you doing?!” Mo Zhan shouted in fright.
He knew he was going to die. He wasn’t afraid of dying, but the strange energy invading his body did terrify him. Because now—he couldn’t die. No matter how his soul struggled, it was locked within his flesh. That was the most horrifying part.
Then, translucent vines burrowed into his flesh, wriggling like ghostly tendrils.
“AHH!”
Mo Zhan’s agonized scream tore through the air. His body convulsed violently as the pain ripped through his soul. His eyes almost bulged out of their sockets.
Within moments, Mo Zhan’s body twisted into a grotesque form. His shrieks gradually weakened, fading into hoarse groans until finally—silence.
“Zhizhi...”
Long Chen heard Zhi Zhi’s voice echo within his mind. Then, he calmly extended a finger and pressed it against Mo Zhan’s forehead. A swell of information instantly flooded into his mind.
Zhi Zhi had grown stronger. Now, it could completely ignore spiritual restrictions and extract a target’s memories forcibly.
Though the fragments were messy and scattered, they still contained valuable information.
A heartbeat later, Mo Zhan’s body convulsed one final time before his head exploded with a dull pop. By that point, Long Chen was already miles away.
“Tch, this Mo Zhan’s Spiritual Strength was too weak. If it had been a bit stronger, I could’ve uncovered far more secrets. What a pity,” Long Chen muttered with a sigh.
Even so, he had learned plenty.
“Lord Long Chen!”
Xi Yuanqing and the others hurried over, their eyes wide with awe. They had witnessed Long Chen destroy a city with a single sword strike and crush an One Merger expert as easily as killing a chicken. Being able to follow someone like him filled them with boundless pride and excitement.
“This person walked the wrong path,” said Long Chen lightly. “He looked powerful, but he was hollow inside, unable to withstand even a single blow. If you could calm your hearts and find his weaknesses, a hundred of you could have killed him.”
“Really?”
Xi Yuanqing and the others gaped in disbelief.
“If it were the brothers of my Dragonblood Legion,” Long Chen continued, “even with only 998 Sovereign flames, they could still kill him with ease. The fact that you’re so surprised only shows your understanding of combat is still shallow. Take it slow, I suppose. There are no shortcuts in this path. You can only accumulate experience through blood and battle—through fighting for your life and standing on the edge of death.”
In the end, the rhino dragon race’s innate perception was shocking, but they had not experienced enough bloody battles to unlock its full potential.
Hearing this, Xi Yuanqing and the others nodded fervently. They had a general understanding of what Long Chen was saying.
Long Chen continued, “I saw some things in Mo Zhan’s memories. We need to quickly gather the dragon race’s experts. Uncle Fan will lead you. Go to Di Mengyao. She’ll coordinate with you to unite the others. Time is short, so get strong quickly.”
“Lord Long Chen, are you not coming with us?” asked Xi Yuanqing in surprise.
Long Chen smiled faintly and patted Xi Yuanqing’s shoulder. “I have other matters to attend to, so we’ll part ways here. I regret meeting you too late, as I didn’t have enough time to guide you. But the dragon race needs your aid. Your talent can save the lives of countless brothers and sisters. I leave this responsibility to you.”
“Lord Long Chen, don’t worry! Our rhino dragon race will not lose the face of our ancestors!” Xi Yuanqing swore, thumping his chest.
Long Chen nodded approvingly. As Cang Lu stepped out from the Sovereign Dragon Divine Test, Long Chen sent a few spiritual messages to Uncle Fan. Then, taking Cang Lu with him, he vanished into the distance.
