Chapter 68 - Battle!
Chapter 68: Battle!
“Psht…”
“Buzzcut boy is very domineering, eh?”
“There’s an old Beijiang saying that we’re familiar with. Cut the crap and just do it!”
“Scram, we say this in East Liaodong too.”
“Someone’s caught in the middle, trembling and too afraid to speak.”
“Isn’t it an entire province? Do you guys have separate regions too?”
“Who told you that the three northern provinces belong to one province? Your geography teacher can’t stand it anymore. Hurry and go back to school to check it out.”
On the stage, the teacher said, “The Year One champions have decided to challenge the Year Three champions. Due to the rules, no weapons are allowed in this battle.”
Gao Junwei threw his wooden sword aside and turned to look at the referee before urging, “Can we begin?”
The referee said, “I’m waiting for further orders.”
“Hey, the one fiddling with the knife,” Jiang Xiao said.
Slightly stunned, Gao Junwei turned to look at Jiang Xiao. He had never expected that Jiang Xiao would speak to him.
Of course, there were plenty of things that Gao Junwei did not expect. For example, he did not expect that Jiang Xiao would have the guts to go forth and get beaten up by him.
“Hurry and cut to the chase! You won’t be able to speak later,” Gao Junwei said.
Jiang Xiao retorted, “I heard that your group has lost all honor with your unremitting efforts last year.”
Gao Junwei’s face grew sullen and he questioned, “What did you say?”
Jiang Xiao shrugged his shoulders and said, “Oh, right. You did win during the final exam, but you didn’t dare to pull any scheming tricks on the members because the teachers were all watching, right?”
Gao Junwei clenched his fists and began quivering uncontrollably.
The teacher on the stage was bewildered and she turned to look at Principal Yan. Jiang Xiao’s words were rather serious, and there were plenty of personnel present who did not belong to the school. If word about it spread around, the school’s reputation would be harmed.
Principal Yan shook his head and said with a smile, “You must be outstanding to win. This seems to be a battle full of wisdom.”
The man in the military uniform said, “I wonder how they’ll coordinate this time.”
“Well, it’s understandable. When you’re in the Dimensional Space, there’s nothing to worry about, so you can plot against your teammates as and when you please. Aren’t I right?” Jiang Xiao gibed while staring at Gao Junwei with a smirk.
“You’re courting death,” Gao Junwei said in a gloomy and threatening voice, which was also a little shaky. It seemed he could not control his anger at all.
“I think it’s better that you don’t ruin your future here. You’ve indeed brought the team of School Tyrants down greatly. You’ve caused them to lose so much honor. How did you even get into the team?”
Gao Junwei shouted angrily, “Who do you think you are?”
“Oh?” Jiang Xiao scratched his head and asked, “Have you become a fortune teller too?”
Gao Junwei was beyond infuriated.
“I’ve stopped fortune-telling. I’ve decided to fit keys instead.” Jiang Xiao chuckled and gibed. “Are you fit enough?”
Gao Junwei could not contain his anger and hollered. “Fit, my foot! Shut up!”
Jiang Xiao nodded in agreement and exclaimed, “Yes, you’re not fit!”
Gao Junwei recovered from the shock and wondered, Did I just say that I’m not fit to be part of the School Tyrants?
Is he doubting my worthiness of being in the team?
Gao Junwei barked. “How am I not fit to be in the team!?!”
“Are you fit?” Jiang Xiao quipped with raised brows.
“Psht…”
“Hahahahahah…”
“Damn, this buzzcut boy has got a really foul mouth. How infuriating, hahahaha.”
“He’s good at talking!”
“I’m beyond amused, haha.”
“I… f**k.” Gao Junwei darted towards Jiang Xiao, unable to stand it any longer.
The referee continued blowing the whistle and seemed to be extremely amused. “The competition… has yet to begin. Please return to your respective phalanxes. Otherwise… you will be disqualified.”
Jiang Xiao stepped forward, put out his palm, and gestured for the Zhu brothers to give him a high five. Zhu Wen was rather helpless while Zhu Wu was on the brink of tears. He forcefully smacked Jiang Xiao’s hand.
Jiang Xiao managed to leave an Imprint on the both of them.
Jiang Xiao stood in the middle of the T-shaped formation and took a step back without looking back. He then extended his hands behind him.
Yi Lianna stared at Jiang Xiao amusingly and patted his hand.
After Imprint was put on, everything was prepared and in place.
“Is it really appropriate of you to provoke him that way? He’s not going to spare any mercy,” said Yi Lianna.
“Did you think he would be merciful in the first place?” Jiang Xiao humphed and gibed. “He’s our only enemy. Don’t bother about the three sidelines behind him.”
“Huh?”
“What?”
“Are you sure?” the three teammates asked apprehensively.
Jiang Xiao nodded and said, “People tend to dig their own graves. Think about it. What kind of people would go to the extremes of betraying everyone? By the way, Lianna.”
Yi Lianna asked, “Huh?”
Jiang Xiaodao said, “Screw him. I’ve been in control of his emotions and he has never absorbed any Star Beads. We can only win by stalling time and depleting his energy. It would be better if he doesn’t have any Star Beads. Blow up his pants and don’t give him a single chance to replenish his Star Beads. Bursting Flames can totally do the trick. You’re completely capable of it too.”
“Both parties, get ready!” the referee exclaimed.
Whoosh!
The referee waved the flag and announced the start of the competition!
The fighting style of the Year Three champions was exactly the same as when they fought the Year Two champions. Those at the back did not move at all.
Gao Junwei had long been unable to contain his anger and so dashed straight out.
His right fist was covered with a rich golden current, which was really eye-catching.
Faced with the menacing attack, the Zhu brothers shielded Jiang Xiao while Gao Junwei flew and hollered. “Scram!”
—Gold Quality Star Technique, Roar of Fear!
The Zhu brothers panicked and suddenly felt like retreating despite having vigorous fighting spirits in the beginning. It was truly incredible.
No matter how firm they were, one thing they could not deny was that they had retreated and were staring at the golden current that was charging towards them.
Jiang Xiao had retreated with Yi Lianna long ago. Bearing with the fear within him, he swung his fists and cast two rays of Blessings on the Zhu brothers.
The Zhu brothers tensed up and began to quiver. They then retreated and stood rooted to the ground before bending forward.
Blessing overwrites Roar of Fear?
Does Blessing have such an effect too?
Han Jiangxue had once told Jiang Xiao that there was such an effect!
The team had encountered a group of White Ghouls led by a White Ghoul Witch before. Once the light of Blessing fell on the White Ghouls, they would stop in their tracks as if they had been purified.
The light of Blessing fell on Jiang Xiao’s and Yi Lianna’s heads. At the same time, Jiang Xiao heard the alluring and gentle voice from behind.
Yi Lianna moaned in pleasure.
With one hand in his pocket, Jiang Xiao crushed a White Ghoul Star Bead and yelled, “Yi Lianna!”
Yi Lianna blushed and quickly recovered from the shock and began to condense fireballs in her hands.
Gao Junwei realized that he was about to collide with the two brothers soon. He barked. “I told you guys to scram!”
—Gold Quality Star Technique, Roar of Fear!
Whoosh!
Two rays of light shrouded the Zhu brothers again, but they could quickly snap back to reality because they had experienced it twice before. Gao Junwei was dashing towards them!
Bang!
Zhu Wen subconsciously put his hands in front of himself to block his vitals.
Zhu Wu was extremely proactive. Green Glow formed in his right hand, after which he threw it out forcefully.
Bang!
The two of them took ten steps back one after another because of the collision, and their arms began bleeding. They were in a terrible state, experiencing current that was surging through their bodies and making them feel numb and sore.
However, the effects of Blessing had yet to disappear and they were continuously recovering.
A fireball whizzed past the two of them and hit Gao Junwei, who stumbled backward!
It was the retreating effects of Green Glow!
Bang!
The blazing fireball exploded in Gao Junwei’s waist.
The students of Year Two were the ones who reacted the most agitatedly.
“What the heck!?!”
“What happened!?!”
“Are they Year One kids?!”
“I’m not dreaming, am I!?!”
