Chapter 270.2 – Alchemy Fire
Chapter 270.2 – Alchemy Fire
Yue Jiang-Rui patted his interspatial belt and took out his cauldron. The cauldron had four legs, and had a variety of fire-beasts carved on its body. The cauldron’s emergence was followed by a buzzing sound.
Some of the alchemists who were reading pellet recipes were interrupted by the noise and frowned when looking at Yue Jiang-Rui. However, they were quickly shocked and envious upon seeing the cauldron, and they subconsciously kept a distance from him.
The cauldron enlarged and landed on top of a white cloud. Then, Yue Jiang-Rui sent out a hot white fire from his fingertips. The fire slowly moved towards the cauldron, and after reaching the bottom of the cauldron, it suddenly burst into a burning white flame, immediately wrapping around half of the cauldron and causing the temperature around Yue Jiang-Rui to rise quickly.
Yue Jiang-Rui glanced around and noticed that he was the only one who had started. He proudly thought in his heart, This is my advantage! It is precisely because I am unable to become a Master Alchemist and concoct Core Forging Realm pellets, that I have poured all my time and effort into concocting half-step Core Forging Realm pellets. My alchemy skill with half-step Core Forging Realm pellets rivals that of those alchemical geniuses from the major sects. There is no way this Li Clan alchemist that came out of nowhere is up to my standard!
Yue Jiang-Rui finished preheating the cauldron and began adding the spirit herbs to it.
At the same time, Senior Martial Brother Ye also began his alchemy. As an alchemy genius from the Northern League, he naturally surely wasn’t a total stranger to these pellet recipes that came from their organization.
Senior Martial Brother Ye’s cauldron was a mid-grade mystic instrument. However, there was a thick and dense air floating on top of it, clearly showing that the cauldron had a long history of being used in alchemy. As a result, overtime, its quality gradually increased, almost approaching the level of high-grade cauldrons.
“Oh?”
The Core Forging Realm Enlightened Masters on the huge central cloud were naturally observing the alchemists with their divine revelations. Enlightened Master Ji Ya-Kong exclaimed in surprise, looking at Enlightened Master Qin with interest, “Isn’t that the Golden Light Cauldron used by Enlightened Master Qin in your early years? That boy must be your disciple, right?”
Enlightened Master Qin laughed quietly, “Yes, he is. But I only let him out this time because he has been really bored recently. Furthermore, Senior Brother Zhang Wu-Duan personally came to see me asking to let him out. I brought him out this time so that he’ll realize that there are many others in the cultivation world who are better than him, so he mustn’t be blinded by his arrogance.”
Enlightened Master Ji Ya-Kong laughed, “But this nephew’s alchemy is great, I’m afraid Brother Qin’s plan will not work as planned.”
Senior Martial Brother Qi, who was near Senior Martial Brother Ye, also released a mid-grade cauldron. Once again, there was also a thick and dense air that floated above Senior Martial Brother Qi’s cauldron.
As if sensing something, Senior Martial Brother Ye suddenly looked over and locked eyes with Senior Martial Brother Qi; they both saw the same provocative gaze.
Senior Martial Brother Ye opened his mouth and spat out a light red fire. The fire enlarged into a one-foot bird of fire which flew to the bottom of the cauldron. The fire bird flapped its wings, and a blazing orange-red flame rushed out to heat the cauldron.
Senior Martial Brother Qi flipped his hand and a fire fox appeared in his palm. The fire fox ran to the underneath of the cauldron, and blasted out fire from its wagging tail. Then, Senior Martial Brother Qi casually added the spirit herbs one by one into the cauldron. It was clear that this was not his first time concocting this type of pellet.
After they both added the spirit herbs into the cauldron, all that was left was to control the flame and also monitor the spirit herbs’ condition. Hence, they were free to observe the other alchemists around them.
Yue Jiang-Rui was calm and relaxed. The fragrance of pellets was already emanating from his cauldron.
On the other hand, Lu Ping was still reading the Soft Jade Pellet’s recipe with one hand and picking the required spirit herbs with his other hand.
After that, Lu Ping raised his hand and a mid-grade cauldron flew out. As Lu Ping has been using the cauldron from the beginning, the mediocre mid-grade cauldron also had a faint layer of air above it.
Yue Jiang-Rui sneered coldly. He was focusing on his cauldron while also closely observing Lu Ping, as if he expected to see a good show.
Lu Ping pulled out a small red fire from his interspatial ring. On the central cloud, Li Xiu-Zhu was surprised to see the fire as she had recognized it. This was the Scarlet Ibis Fire that repelled Sister Chu Ting during the scheme in Three Clans Island’s underground trade fair!
Li Xiu-Zhu pondered for a moment, and decided to inform Li Mao-Lin, whilst also allowing Chilian Ying to listen. Li Mao-Lin frowned after hearing Li Xiu-Zhu’s words, but made no comment, while Chilian Ying wasn’t surprised at all.
After the cauldron had heated up, Lu Ping began to add the spirit herbs into the cauldron one by one in the order recorded in the pellet recipe, and began to concoct the pellets.
At this time, a burst of fragrance was emitted from Yue Jiang-Rui’s cauldron. Yue Jiang-Rui happily reached out a finger, and the cauldron lid opened by itself. Inside the cauldron, nine medicinal pellets glimmered with a green light. Yue Jiang-Rui took out a jade bottle and pointed it at the pellets, causing the pellets to fly into the bottle in a straight line.
Yue Jiang-Rui was the first to concoct the first cauldron of medicinal pellets. This fact couldn’t help but affect some of the alchemists around him, causing them to make some errors, greatly affecting their success rates.
Yue Jiang-Rui glanced at Lu Ping and found that he was very rusty, it was obvious that he had never concocted these pellets before. Lu Ping had run into three unfamiliar medicinal pellets, which showed that his alchemy knowledge and heritage wasn’t very high.
Not far from Lu Ping, Senior Martial Brother Qi and Senior Martial Brother Ye also noticed Lu Ping’s situation. Senior Martial Brother Qi laughed disdainfully before returning his attention to his cauldron. Senior Martial Brother Ye’s eyes flashed with an indecipherable light. He then returned his focus back on his cauldron; he was one step ahead of Senior Martial Brother Qi, there wasn’t much time left before his pellets were ready.
Lu Ping’s heart sank slightly when he saw that Yue Jiang-Rui had a ninety percent success rate. No wonder Yue Jiang-Rui was addressed as the Northern League’s best Quasi-Master Alchemist. Lu Ping’s success rate with Late Blood Condensation Realm medicinal pellets was only eighty percent when using the Azure Spirit Fire.
The good thing was that the Alchemy Conference was just starting, and this was just a warm-up session.
Without using the Azure Spirit Fire, Lu Ping’s success rate was obviously affected, but it was not that serious thanks to his recent improvements in alchemy.
By the time he finished concocting the Soft Jade Pellets, almost all of the alchemists had also succeeded in concocting their first cauldron of pellets. Yue Jiang-Rui had even managed to concoct his second cauldron of pellets, once again with a ninety percent success rate.
Lu Ping reached out and kept the seven Soft Jade Pellets inside a jade bottle. Initially, there were many alchemists waiting to make fun of Lu Ping for his rusty alchemy, but their gloating expressions quickly changed when they saw his high success rate.
Yue Jiang-Rui, Senior Martial Brother Qi, and Senior Martial Brother Ye expressions turned serious. The three of them could easily see that Lu Ping had never concocted the Soft Jade Pellets before. However, even though it was his first try, he still obtained a seventy percent success rate, showing them that Lu Ping’s alchemy was actually very good.
