Chapter 2299 Rectifying the Academy (Part 4)

Unable to bear it any longer, Yang Xiao directly pushed the door open and went inside. The person being interrogated froze momentarily upon seeing Yang Xiao, and his face instantly turned from cloudy to clear. Everyone now knew that he was a disciple of Dean Sheng, and more importantly, a leader at the Patrol Defense Office.

“Oh, it’s Mr. Yang, what brings you to a place like this? It’s dirty here, don’t let it sully your vision.” The person in charge of the interrogation was sharp-eyed and immediately had someone bring a chair for Yang Xiao, with a blanket draped over it.

“How long have you been interrogating?” Yang Xiao took the teacup, didn’t drink, just rinsed his mouth and casually spat it out, his expression calm and indifferent.

Upon hearing this, the interrogator’s face turned a bit awkward, whispering, “It’s been almost a whole day, but these guys are like dead ducks, stubborn to the bone, simply refusing to confess.”

As soon as he finished speaking, someone sneered and cursed: “Hey! Zhou Qing, you son of a bitch with no asshole, use every trick you have on Grandpa, if I blink I’ll be your son with your mom!”

“Brother Zhao scolded well, a bunch of cowards, eunuchs with no balls, we men are not afraid of death. Don’t let me get the chance, or I’ll chop all your heads off!” Another man tied to a torture rack yelled out.

“You’re courting death!”

Seeing that he was losing face in front of Yang Xiao, Zhou Qing immediately raised his whip and thrashed the two men fiercely. Though these two had already been whipped till their skin was torn, their mouths continued to curse relentlessly.

In the next second, Zhou Qing’s wrist was suddenly seized by someone—Yang Xiao had intervened. He stopped Zhou Qing because he simply could not stand watching any longer; it was simply like child’s play.

As expected of the Academy staff, they’ve not seen reality, probably learning all these interrogation methods from movies.

Yang Xiao looked around and issued an order: “All of you, leave.”

“Are you going to interrogate them personally? These guys are as tough as nails; I think you shouldn’t waste your time with them…”

“You also leave, close the iron door outside, and don’t let anyone in. When they confess, I’ll call you to come and record it.” Yang Xiao’s tone was light, as if describing a trivial matter.

This scene left Zhou Qing and the bound prisoners in a state of disbelief. Moments later, a wave of ridicule followed:

“Oh my, a pretty boy arrives, what is it, planning to seduce your Grandpa Sun? Let me tell you, I don’t fall for that, and you’re closing the door, afraid someone will see you naked?”

“Pretty boy, if you have the guts, start with Mr. Zhao. If I even furrow my brow, I’ll take your surname!”

These men were caught hiding in other strongholds within the city. They didn’t recognize Yang Xiao, and at that moment, viewed him as a scholarly-looking young pretty boy who seemed easily bullied.

Zhou Qing also did not believe Yang Xiao could get anything out of them, but since he was the disciple of Dean Sheng, he dared not refuse and reluctantly complied. Before leaving, Zhou Qing repeatedly reminded Yang Xiao that he had men stationed outside the door, ready to assist whenever needed.

Once unrelated personnel left, only Yang Xiao and the several bound prisoners remained in the interrogation room.

Yang Xiao stepped forward, scrutinizing the middle-aged man who had cursed the most harshly earlier. This man had a face full of ferocity, dense sideburns, and fierce copper bell-like eyes, appearing very intimidating, reminiscent of the Three Kingdoms general Zhang Fei.

Yang Xiao had his dossier in hand; this man’s name was Zhao Junhong, originally a smuggler. Gaining favor with Sheng Jingxuan, he was appreciated and promoted to oversee a hidden stronghold within the city for Yiling Academy, specifically handling private affairs for Sheng Jingxuan and his family. He was fiercely loyal to Sheng Jingxuan.

For some reason, as Yang Xiao looked at him, this living Zhang Fei, Zhao Junhong, instinctively felt intimidated. He couldn’t quite describe this feeling; it was as if the temperature in the interrogation room had inexplicably dropped, and goosebumps started to appear on his arms.

His skills were average, just a Fierce Level Apostle, but his perception was sharp.

The reason Sheng Jingxuan valued him was due to his excellent perception, especially regarding danger.

The string of curses meant for Yang Xiao’s parents remained stuck in his throat, failing to come out at first. Moments later, he glared at Yang Xiao under pressure and called out uncertainly, “What are you looking at, never seen a real man?”

“Your name is Zhao Junhong. Good, you can confess now, I’m available to listen.” Yang Xiao put aside the dossier and looked directly at Zhao Junhong with great seriousness.

Zhao Junhong was taken aback; what did he mean by ‘available to listen’? As if he was begging him to listen. He wasn’t that low.

Just before him, Zhou Qing had been overly polite and generous, promising positions and rewards, all of which were hurled back by them in furious abuse.

Where did this guy come from to start off so disdainfully?

“Huh~~tui! Go to hell with your mother!” Zhao Junhong couldn’t hold back and spat phlegm onto Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao didn’t get angry; he looked towards the others and calmly asked, “You think the same, don’t you?”

Without doubt, he was met with another round of unrestrained insults.

“All stubborn, that’s great.”

Yang Xiao walked to the corner where there was a stinking rag covered in unknown stains. Putting on gloves, he picked it up, balled it up, and with his left hand pried open Zhao Junhong’s mouth, shoving the rag in with his right hand, rendering Zhao Junhong’s struggles futile.

“Thank you all, thank you for giving me such an opportunity to perform. May God bless you all.”
