Chapter 2217 - 1194: Perseverance of the Strong (Part 2)

This scene was horrifying. Yang Xiao could sense that the Cannibal Buddha showed no signs of spiritual power surging; he simply used brute force to punch through the wooden stake.

Back in the country, Director Nalan had once found a Muay Thai coach for him, reportedly a black boxing champion from Myanmar and Thailand, with impressive skills and resilience against blows. Yang Xiao had learned a lot from this person.

However, comparing people can lead to despair, just like comparing goods can lead to abandonment. From that punch just now, Yang Xiao believed it could kill his championship coach with one hit.

Upon realizing Yang Xiao’s arrival, the Cannibal Buddha wiped the sweat off his face with a wet towel, pulled over a nearby garment to drape on, and looked at Yang Xiao with eyes full of appreciation:

"My Dachaya, it seems you have recovered quite well, that puts me at ease."

"Thank you for your patronage, foster father," Yang Xiao clasped his fists in gratitude. "The golden token you had Dean Sheng pass to me has also been received."

"Hmm, the martyrs have told me about your matters. You have a connection with the Holy Temple Spirit; the God of Valandadu is watching over you."

"Under its guidance, you connected with the misguided martyrs and gained considerable fortune among them. This proves I was not wrong about you; you are my best and most loyal son." The Cannibal Buddha’s voice was muffled and deep, carrying an undeniable authority.

"Dachaya, what you need has been prepared. Take a look," the Cannibal Buddha raised a hand, pointing to a low black wooden table, upon which lay a slender wooden box, appearing like a sword box.

Yang Xiao immediately knew what was inside; it was the Ring-Headed Saber and the Five Thunder Token he had requested the Esoteric Sect to reforge for him.

Yang Xiao walked over excitedly, opened the sword box, and at the moment it opened, a cold gleam flashed before his eyes.

The ice-cold blade reflected his image off its surface, encountering that familiar face gave him an inexplicable feeling of unfamiliarity.

He reached out to grasp the saber, clutching the hilt tightly, Yang Xiao examined it repeatedly.

No doubt, the Esoteric Sect’s skill at reforging magic artifacts was quite remarkable. Now, the hilt of the Ring-Headed Saber had been replaced with a material neither metal nor wood, a sensation Yang Xiao was not unfamiliar with; it was the texture of that Five Thunder Token.

Perhaps due to that token, Yang Xiao clearly felt an eerie, icy sensation within the saber, akin to a cold corpse when he touched the blade.

"This saber is an excellent item. Back then, many experts from the Yin Temple died attempting to surround and kill that Sword Lord. Now with this saber in your hands, it’s truly a return to its rightful owner."

Looking at the saber, the Cannibal Buddha’s eyes showed a hint of gloom, as if reminded of past events.

"It was a great regret that I never had the chance to face that Sword Lord, Dachaya. Today, I will accompany you to test the saber," the Cannibal Buddha was eager toward this saber.

Since the High Priest had said so, Yang Xiao naturally had no reason to refuse. He also wanted to see what this saber could do and... the strength of this Esoteric Priest.

Yang Xiao slowly clenched the hilt, attempting to control this saber, his gaze fixed on Cannibal Buddha’s face, and he said lowly but emphatically, "Foster father, I shall... be presumptuous."

"You may proceed without reservation; consider me a life-or-death enemy. Only then can you completely grasp the wonders of this saber."

The Cannibal Buddha had always appreciated Yang Xiao, not solely because of Yang Xiao’s Patrol Defense Office background and potential, but more so because he believed Yang Xiao was destined to be with him.

With Yang Xiao’s appearance, his Sutana returned, the martyrs who troubled him the most came back to the fold of the Esoteric Sect, recognizing him as the legitimate Master of the Esoteric Sect.

Today, the martyrs personally informed him that Yang Xiao was connected with the Holy Temple Spirit of their Esoteric Sect, and the latter felt very close to Yang Xiao, which was a tremendous honor.

Facing Yang Xiao, the Cannibal Buddha’s emotions were quite complex. This person’s intellect and talent were top-notch, almost unmatched among the younger generation, and he was known for his deep friendships and commitment to his word. It was unfortunate he lacked Esoteric Sect bloodline, or else the High Priest position would undoubtedly be his.

Yang Xiao was naturally too focused to consider what the Cannibal Buddha might be thinking. He was gradually adapting to holding this saber while also keenly observing the Cannibal Buddha, attempting to identify any weakness in the opponent.

But after watching for over ten seconds, Yang Xiao became unsettled because, to his perception, his foster father was riddled with weaknesses all over.

Faced with a high-rank Netherworld Realm Angel Envoy full of flaws, Yang Xiao thought he might as well try to touch him.

Holding his breath and concentrating, Yang Xiao took the initiative to strike, not daring to underestimate this expert from Myanmar and Thailand, second only to the Yin Temple High Priest. He drew his saber and charged straight at the Cannibal Buddha, just as he was about to reach the opponent, Yang Xiao flipped his hand, pulling out the Ghost Lantern, and as a blinding green light erupted, the entire building was briefly bathed in its glow.

Yang Xiao did not hesitate at all, immediately summoning the Soul-Capturing Mirror.

In the next second, he appeared behind the Cannibal Buddha, swinging the saber down towards his foster father’s back.

The sword techniques were fierce, the blade whistling through the air in an uncanny arc, leaving no room for excess.

To guard against his foster father’s counterattacks, Yang Xiao had preemptively activated the Ghost Sleeve Robe’s ability, prepared to counter any move met with the opposite.

Yet the scene that followed completely overturned Yang Xiao’s understanding; the Cannibal Buddha didn’t resist, that swing hit the Cannibal Buddha’s body precisely, or rather, it was caught by hand.
