Nightmare Apostle
Chapter 2207 - 1191: Martyr_2
After seeing the Cannibal Buddha, he smoothly met with Dean Sheng, which was also arranged by the Esoteric Sect. They wanted someone who understood to teach him what to do.
Some things the people of the Esoteric Sect found inconvenient to say themselves, so having Dean Sheng remind him was the most appropriate approach.
Sure enough, not long after dinner, around 8 pm, he met Elder Kunpa, who had changed into casual clothes and appeared very amiable and kind.
Yang Xiao was the first to express his stance, stating that the Great Priest Cannibal Buddha had been kind to him. He, Yang Xiao, was someone who repaid kindness, and whatever needed to be done, he would follow orders.
Upon hearing this, Elder Kunpa was very pleased. After some formalities, he went straight to the point, informing Yang Xiao about the arrangements and assignments for the following day’s banquet.
The matter was consistent with what Dean Sheng had said; all of this was a scheme against the Martyrs, and he himself was a pawn of the Esoteric Sect, playing the most crucial role in this setup.
Yang Xiao wasn’t afraid of being used. Being used proved he was valuable, especially when it came to the Great Priest Cannibal Buddha.
After his explanation, Elder Kunpa narrowed his eyes, growing more satisfied with Yang Xiao: "Young Priest, from now on, we are family. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask."
"Rest assured, there will be no need for hesitation..."
Yang Xiao thought to himself, and then he immediately made a request. He needed the Esoteric Sect to reforge a few Magic Artifacts and also to concoct some Elixirs.
The Magic Artifacts in need of reforging were naturally the two suggested by Sheng Yanlin. He needed to reforge the Five Thunder Token and the Ring-Headed Saber together; another was to repair a radio.
He gifted Elder Kunpa a sample Elixir, which had been given to him by Jiushan Cangxuan. Initially, there were 5 pills; he consumed 4 with great results, and he saved the last one, hoping the Esoteric Sect could replicate it.
The Esoteric Sect also showed great sincerity towards Yang Xiao. Elder Kunpa fully agreed to Yang Xiao’s requests and promised to personally oversee everything. The refining elders and raw materials would be the best, striving for swift completion, ensuring no delay in Yang Xiao’s return.
"Thank you very much, Elder Kunpa." Yang Xiao clasped his hands in gratitude.
"We are family, it’s only right." Elder Kunpa replied with a smile, making a respectful gesture: "The Great Priest is very attentive to Your Excellency, and hopes the Young Priest will support us more in the future."
After some formalities, Elder Kunpa took his leave.
Once the elder left, Yang Xiao let out a long breath and sat back at the table.
Yang Xiao had been training for many years now at the Patrol Defense Office, and he could still discern truth from flattery.
The Great Priest’s trust in him was genuine, but such trust always had limits. Elder Kunpa was the Great Priest’s right-hand man, along with Nalin Commander, both being true Ministers of Dragon in the Great Priest’s eyes.
He probably had no chance to support Elder Kunpa and only hoped the elder wouldn’t speak ill of him before the Cannibal Buddha.
At night, Yang Xiao lay in bed, closed his eyes, and replayed Elder Kunpa’s words in his mind, striving to avoid any mistakes.
Time passed quickly, and by the following evening, Yang Xiao, dressed in new clothes, was escorted by guards to the entrance of a palace.
This place was different from those Yang Xiao had seen before. It was located in the core area of the entire palace; more accurately, it was a temple rather than a palace.
"This must be the so-called Ashan Palace," Yang Xiao said to himself while gazing at the strange script on the temple’s entrance.
The temple wasn’t large in size, with a dark and ancient style, built entirely of large stone blocks and coated with a layer of asphalt-like black paint, resembling a scene that reminded Yang Xiao of a piece of black-painted human skin he held.
He obtained that item from the Nightmare World in Myanmar and Thailand; the black-handed Painted Woman had left a significant impact on him.
In all the Nightmare Missions Yang Xiao had undertaken, that mission was undoubtedly one of the most dangerous. In fact, to some extent, he had failed, as he was manipulated by the young priest of the Gu Sect, left in a state waiting to die. It was some monks in the temple whose consciences hadn’t been completely dulled that saved him.
Upon returning, the first thing he did was seek out the scoundrel Bo Yetong for revenge, bringing him to the Esoteric Sect’s Alchemy Furnace to atone for his crimes.
Upon entering the hall, to Yang Xiao’s surprise, it was quite dark inside. There were no lights, only rows of dimly lit white candles.
By the candlelight, Yang Xiao saw that this small room housed a few low tables, each with a person sitting cross-legged behind it, and of course, the head position was occupied by the Esoteric Priest Cannibal Buddha.
This evening, the Esoteric Priest attended in full dress, clearly having gone through meticulous preparation, exuding an extraordinary presence.
Aside from the Great Priest, the others were also meticulously dressed in traditional Esoteric Sect attire.
The room was decorated with antiquated charm, with several peculiar objects displayed. Yang Xiao even spotted a tree branch adorned with three skulls, and an indescribable smell permeated the entire building.
This didn’t resemble a coronation... it felt more like a... sacrifice.
Realizing this, Yang Xiao felt slightly panicked inside, but just for a moment; first and foremost, he trusted the Cannibal Buddha, who was a man of his word.
