Just as Yang Xiao and Ye Zheng were preparing to dig deeper into the clues, suddenly, urgent footsteps came from outside the door. Then the door was pushed open, and a middle-aged man rushed in recklessly.

It was someone from the security department. Yang Xiao found him familiar; this guy was acting with Old Ding during last night’s mission.

"Captain Ma, there’s a new development!" The man’s tone was urgent and quick.

Yang Xiao immediately stood up and left the office with Ye Zheng.

As the three stepped out of the room, the man quickly reported, "Something happened at Family Building No. 3 again, and someone is missing—it’s... it’s Feng Xiaoyan, one of your people!"

"Feng Xiaoyan?" Ye Zheng was taken aback, thinking it would be Guo Tiejun.

"Yes, it’s Feng Xiaoyan. Chief Zhou has already headed to the scene, and he asked me to inform you." The man reminded.

Upon hearing this, Yang Xiao and Ye Zheng quickly moved, intending to go to Family Building No. 3 to check the situation. But after stepping out a few paces, Yang Xiao seemed to recall something, halted and turned:

"Comrade, you shouldn’t go. You stay here to watch over Sun Fendou; he’s an important eyewitness in this case. Make sure he doesn’t meet any mishaps."

"Rest assured, Chief Zhou arranged it that way too." The man nodded responsibly, "Xiao Zhang is on duty next door; the two of us are keeping an eye on him."

"Right, be careful."

After a quick reminder, Yang Xiao departed the security department with Ye Zheng, heading towards Incident Location at Family Building No. 3.

A sense of ominous foreboding surrounded Yang Xiao’s heart. On the first night in this world, Wang Yong disappeared; he lived in Family Building No. 4.

And last night, it was Feng Xiaoyan who lived in Family Building No. 3.

If it continues like this, soon it will be his and Ye Zheng’s turn at Family Building No. 1.

Feng Xiaoyan resided in Room 7, Floor 2 of Family Building No. 3. Upon reaching the room, Chief Zhou was seen sitting on the chair, while Guo Tiejun sat on the bed, answering Chief Zhou’s questions honestly.

Seeing Yang Xiao arrive, Chief Zhou simply nodded as a greeting.

Yang Xiao, not standing on ceremony, sat right next to Chief Zhou.

Things were different now; he was authorized by the higher-ups and was considered the team leader of this face-skinning murder case. Chief Zhou had made clear his full cooperation.

"Chief Zhou, I’ve told you everything I know; regarding last night’s events, I truly know nothing."

"After I returned, I was terribly sleepy. Feng Xiaoyan advised me to sleep first, saying she wasn’t sleepy and wanted to read for a while, so I went to bed."

"But little did I know when I woke up... she was gone. I searched the whole building but couldn’t find her."

"Initially, I thought she might have gone to the canteen for a meal, but after waiting and waiting, she didn’t return, so I... I ran to Aunt Zhang at the building management and borrowed a phone to message you." Guo Tiejun continued.

"When did you wake up?" Yang Xiao asked.

"About... about an hour ago." Guo Tiejun replied.

"You sure slept for quite a while." Ye Zheng couldn’t help but frown.

After all, Guo Tiejun encountered strange events at Cultural Palace Cinema last night; logically, he had the highest chance of being attacked by the ghost.

Thinking about it, Ye Zheng wouldn’t have been able to sleep; she’d stay alert all night despite fatigue.

"Oh, by the way, when I woke up, the door was open."

"No, no, my meaning is although the door wasn’t wide open, it wasn’t locked either; it was ajar and opened with a pull."

"But after coming back last night, I immediately locked the door, and the bolt behind the door was inserted by myself, unmistakably." Guo Tiejun emphasized with some agitation.

"So this is different from previous dormitory disappearance cases; this time, Feng Xiaoyan opened the door herself and left voluntarily." Chief Zhou analyzed after some thought.

"Chief Zhou, have you questioned that Aunt Zhang?" Yang Xiao asked.

"Yes." Chief Zhou nodded, "We asked her already. Aunt Zhang is the manager of this family building. According to her, she saw Guo Tiejun and Feng Xiaoyan return together last night, but after that, she hasn’t seen Feng Xiaoyan."

"Aunt Zhang wasn’t feeling well last night and slept early. After opening the door in the morning, she sat on the steps by the dormitory building entrance knitting a sweater, and she didn’t see Feng Xiaoyan go out." Chief Zhou explained.

At this moment, someone outside reported that Director Zhai had arrived. Chief Zhou got up and walked out, not forgetting to reassure Guo Tiejun and Yang Xiao before leaving.

Saying that they had mobilized dozens from the factory’s security department to continue searching for Feng Xiaoyan throughout the factory, and not to worry; they’d be informed immediately upon any news.

But Yang Xiao knew very well that the living couldn’t be found; wait for the body to appear at night. Feng Xiaoyan was their second victim.

Thoughts returned to the case; the building manager didn’t see anyone leave, proving the person disappeared within the building.

Considering the door being opened from the inside, Yang Xiao began to form several speculations in his mind.

The first hypothesis was that Guo Tiejun was lying. He sensed danger and made up an excuse to trick Feng Xiaoyan out of the room, locking her outside, leading to her being killed by the ghost and disappearing.

But this idea only existed in Yang Xiao’s mind for a few seconds before being overturned.

After all, Feng Xiaoyan wasn’t an idiot. She already knew that her roommate Guo Tiejun encountered bizarre events at the Cultural Palace last night, so it’s almost impossible for her to be deceived by Guo Tiejun.

Furthermore, if Guo Tiejun used force to drive Feng Xiaoyan out, this possibility doesn’t exist either.
