"That’s right." Yang Xiao revealed an appreciative smile. This guy isn’t stupid, he knows to call more people because with just one person, you wouldn’t know if it’s a human or a ghost.

"Let’s wait. Tonight should be uneventful," Ye Zheng said, but there was no less caution in his eyes.

"Miss Ye, I take back what I said earlier. President Ye Changfeng has raised an admirable daughter," Yang Xiao said.

"Yang Xiao, in this mission, I’m scouting the danger for you, but if I die, please help my father, considering our acquaintance. He’s had a hard time," Ye Zheng said in a low voice, but his expression was very serious.

"Firstly, you won’t die easily, and secondly, I promise you," Yang Xiao agreed to the promise.

The reinforcements arrived faster than expected. Yang Xiao first heard the sound of an engine, then saw lights approaching from a distance.

As it got closer, Yang Xiao saw it was an old-style motorcycle with a sidecar. The vehicle drove up to the Cultural Palace, and two figures jumped off and ran toward them.

Not just these two, there was a larger group following behind on bicycles, at a rough count, there were at least 7 or 8 people.

"Where are they, where’s the enemy agent?" Chief Zhou charged ahead, holding a black pistol.

Right behind Chief Zhou was a big man with a dark face, burly, and fierce-looking, holding a semi-automatic rifle, with the bolt already drawn back.

Yang Xiao opened the doors of the Cultural Palace, and Chief Zhou immediately led his men rushing inside.

"You guys block the door, Old Wu, take some men to surround the back and don’t let them escape from there. The rest of you, charge up with me!" After roughly asking about the situation, Chief Zhou gestured, and five big men burst up the stairs.

Yang Xiao was stunned to see this, not expecting such firepower in a factory. The pistols aside, there were at least four or five semi-automatic rifles and submachine guns.

The others all had weapons, short sticks, big knives, even long spears. The guy blocking the door with a spear had a fierce look, looking like trouble, with two wooden handle grenades slung at his waist.

Chief Zhou and his team exuded a murderous aura, clearly pent-up and eager to solve the case and root out the damned enemy agent.

Yang Xiao even suspected that even if there really was an enemy agent, they wouldn’t capture them alive; this display alone was enough to scare them to death.

After waiting a while for Chief Zhou and his men to go up, Yang Xiao and his group followed and reached the third floor, where they saw Chief Zhou coming out of a room, his face full of anger.

Before Yang Xiao could speak, a voice came from the open room, sending a chill down their spines.

"Chief Zhou, let me explain, I really...really was catching a thief. The thief was a man and a woman, I...I almost caught them, I really..."

"Sun Delin!!"

Yang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat. He...he wasn’t dead!

How could this be possible? He clearly heard his cries of pain, unless...unless a ghost killed him and then disguised as him?

No time for Yang Xiao to think, Chief Zhou led them into the room, where Sun Delin was tied to a radiator along the wall, looking pitiful.

Seeing Yang Xiao and Ye Zheng, the formerly timid Sun Delin suddenly became defiant, accusing, "It was them...it was those two, the materials hidden in the storage room were stolen by them!"

Chief Zhou’s complexion darkened, and without discussion, he struck left and right, slapping Sun Delin hard enough that stars appeared in his eyes, and his legs wobbled, nearly bringing him to his knees.

Yang Xiao knew that people in this era were more straightforward, but he didn’t expect such directness, taking action when necessary.

"Sun Delin, repeat that to me?!" Chief Zhou drew his pistol and pressed it against Sun Delin’s forehead.

Sun Delin cowered immediately, confessing everything. He had always had habits of petty theft, and, taking advantage of his night watch at the Cultural Palace, he would sneak a few things out of the storeroom to sell for drinking money.

Today, he first received a call from Chief Zhou saying someone would come to inspect, he feared this might be his last chance to steal, so he planned one final theft.

But he didn’t expect that while he was stealing, he suddenly heard footsteps in the hallway outside, terrified, he thought of pretending to be a ghost to scare people away so he could escape, but instead...Yang Xiao and Ye Zheng didn’t run and even caught him and gave him a beating.

Yang Xiao nearly broke his leg when he threw the flashlight.

"Where’s your accomplice?" Yang Xiao stepped forward to question, "That one who sneaked up the stairs!"

"Accomplice..." Sun Delin looked perplexed, but a second later, as if he suddenly recalled something, went into a frightened frenzy, shouting, his eyes wide, "Monster! There’s a monster! Old Zhang...Old Zhang came back, the seventh day returning spirit, I saw him!"

Shouting while Sun Delin’s head slumped to the side, he fell straight to the floor with a "thud."

This scene impacted Yang Xiao and Ye Zheng greatly, but surprisingly, Chief Zhou and his team seemed unfazed.

Yang Xiao approached to check Sun Delin’s breath, but was stopped by another man with a short submachine gun slung over his shoulder.

"It’s nothing, he’s not dead, just fainted. In the past..." The man glanced at Chief Zhou and didn’t continue.

At that moment, Yang Xiao seemed to understand a bit. He looked at Chief Zhou for confirmation, "Isn’t this the first time something like this has happened? Others besides Sun Delin have reported seeing ghosts, right?"

Chief Zhou didn’t refute, but also didn’t respond, instead ordering people to guard the place and heading downstairs.

Seeing this, Yang Xiao immediately followed, with Ye Zheng close behind.

"Chief Zhou, we’re here to assist in the investigation, you can’t keep things from us," Yang Xiao said as he caught up.

At this moment, Chief Zhou seemed to have aged ten years instantly. He rubbed his face vigorously, his sparse stubble and bloodshot eyes revealing the exhaustion of the seasoned security chief.

"I really don’t know how to tell you. These things are strange, but I firmly believe they’re just illusions, methods enemy agents use to deceive our eyes," Chief Zhou insisted on his judgment, though even Yang Xiao sensed he was struggling to convince himself.

"Chief Zhou, Chief Zhou!" Someone shouted downstairs, running up.

Soon after, a man in a khaki jacket rushed up, face full of panic, "Chief Zhou, something...something happened!" The man was breathless, gasping for air.

"What happened?" Chief Zhou asked urgently.

"Another person is missing!" The man said mournfully, "In Residential Building No. 4, a new officer in the Propaganda Department named...named Wang Yong!"
