Chapter 630: The End of the Cycle
Render forcibly charged to take down a Throne and fought the numerous tricks of the Zodiac. But now, the appearance of Lynd caught him off guard. The amount of Universe energy that Lynd and Cliff wielded was also high!
WARP!
Behind him, a portal opened as Rai flew out, and many portals to the Void Realm opened up.
On the other side of the portals was a barrage of beams and attacks from above.
And on two specific areas, Lennox and Meryl were preparing a huge energy attack that warped out.
The attacks all happened so fast as all the beams and attacks charged out.
Cancer appeared and tried to grab and hinder the escape of Render's Throne.
Unable to fully retreat, the dimensions folded, and another huge portion of his base was being sucked in and folded into itself.
Attacks from all sides shot at Render, and Render could only defend as time, and all began to swirl.
Render's dimensional power of Cycle appeared. All seasons, all known cycles that preserve the universe, are guided by this power. And Render had found a way to create a spiral cycle which became his power.
But among those attacking him were many powers that tried to disrupt the cycle.
Lynd and Cliff's attack used the power of desolation, which aimed to bring an end to things and obliterate the elements to reach an eternal halt.
The power of the Zodiacs was the power of seasons that was also spinning through the cycle. But Haresha had already learned of the power of Render and sent out the devourer.
The snake who devours, the sign of the end of times, and the beast that was the last season that broke the cycle.
Ophiuchus appeared and also made its attack.
The two attacks reached Render first.
And with that, the cycle and spin of attacks halted and caused yet another implosion within Render. His form was already too fragile, to begin with. The cycle was strong, but a small fracture from the surprise attack did heavy damage to the fortress from the start. The cycle of the fortress, which had no beginning and end and allowed itself to spiral and superimpose, was already at the point of destruction.
And now, with the attacks from a Top Tier and the attacks of the Unlocked, which, when combined, could also threaten a top tier, the Throne cracked and exploded.
"Ahhhh!" Haresha's true body trembled as she was drawn out of the trance.
She was in a large chamber where Porrelom quickly placed her.
"Wow... That last explosion was something! It seemed Render was dead!" Porrelom smiled.
Haresha also couldn't believe it. After her capture, things ended so quickly. Porrelom placed her on a strange device that allowed her to communicate with the Throne from a distance and control it with more precision. But even though she was the best of the best among the Top Tiers on the ship, she would not be so reckless as to face another in a head-on collision. But now, Render was dead!
"Are your earthling allies alive? That explosion would have sent the entire base of Render exploding out. Haresha's throne will survive through that sheep power, but your friends-"
"Are overcomers. They'll live. I'm guessing your forces are cleaning up the base, right Haresha?" Seeker asked.
Haresha was floating out of the chamber and sat around them.
Even outside of the strange device, she could still have some connection and gave some orders to her Throne, weak as it was. She still had a massive army.
"...You're allies are joining me now. It seems that Lynd has managed to guess what's going on. Even allowing me to..."
"Gather Render's Universe Energy?" Seeker guessed.
"Yes."
"Is this... the right thing to do?" Irvana couldn't help but ask.
Lowengren frowned. He then turned to Vender.
"What do you think?"
"Huh?"
"...Never mind." Lowengren sighed.
Porrelom's Throne flashed.
"...You created a portal?" Haresha was confused.
"That portal will keep the noses of Marrho and the rest from interfering. Let me take a third of the Universe Energy. I'm sure the two parts will recover much of what you have lost, right Haresha?" Porrelom asked.
"...Fine." Haresha could only sigh.
"Is it weird... We came here to fight. But now we ended up in neutral ceasefires with three Presiders." Lowengren turned to Seeker.
"Right. But me and Lynd's Zone are saying the same thing. For now, we trust this odd turn of events. You did a great job in protecting my team, Haresha. With the two teams there, I doubt Marrho or anyone else will try to chase after you."
"This sure is a weird day. Render is dead, Haresha is here... And I invited dangerous people inside. I wonder if this is the right choice?" Porrelom pondered.
Seeker and Lowengren were close by alongside Vender.
"You really are casual for a Presider. Are you really a Conqueror?"
"Conqueror? No. I'm not. I'm not even one of those who is like Haresha and Render who thinks they are."
"So you mean to say you are one of those Presiders that are not cursed?"
"Oh? You guys know about the curse?"
"You know about it?" Seeker was surprised.
"Well, not intentionally. I've seen several Presiders who spoke similar phrases when they were about to die. I'm guessing you guys know because of Garenjazz."
"Your guess is on the mark. But how did you manage to survive if you were not a Conqueror?"
"Hmm... I'm not sure if I should tell you. Hang on." Porrelom then gave an idiotic glance towards the ceiling as if the answers to his dilemma were up there.
"Hm... Risky. Very risky. Ah, what the hell. You guys have at least been sincere." Porrelom decided.
"Not to mention, I can't kill you all since I want to hear more of the stories that Vender tells."
Lowengren could only sigh and facepalm.
"Compared to Conquerors, basically, I'm unimportant. Someone that will surely die in the great battle to come." Porrelom explained.
Everyone was surprised at the sheer lack of confidence from Porrelom's summary.
"Was that... too unappealing?"
"It was too... weak. Are you really a Presider?"
"Yes. Honestly, there is a growing number of us!" Porrelom chuckled.
"A growing number of what?"
"People who want out of the war and who have discovered about the curse. Of course, they can't do anything about it."
"But how are you so strong?" Haresha couldn't help but ask.
"Not really. Compared to a real Conqueror, I'm not strong. You all think Garenjazz is a real Conqueror? He was defeated at the Presider level. He's not a Conqueror. There are two kinds of Conquerors. Aspiring, Fake, and True. Thousands of Aspiring conquerors, Hundreds of Fake, and only one True. Only the Primordial is a real Conqueror. The Primes couldn't even be counted as True. They still belong to the Fake. A real Conqueror will never be conquered but will Conquer. Just like the Primordial."
"A fake?! Impossible! The Prime Wars-"
"Is about birthing a new Primordial. Or... birthing someone who can challenge the current Primordial. And the Primordial intended to devour his challenger. This was what he learned against the Lost Primordial. He has never faced a challenge or grown much stronger because of adversity. So technically, there is only a True Challenger."
"So I'm... a fake Challenger?" Haresha was stunned.
"...I don't think you are one." Lowengren frowned.
"Yeah. If anything, you are like Porrelom here."
"Hm... I'd wager the same guess. You only think you are because you won. You see, even if some of us are not cursed to go through the struggle, it doesn't mean we will just lay down and die, right?"
"I reject your stupid claim!"
"...Welp, here you are." Porrelom laughed.
"Porrelom is right, Haresha. I've seen an Aspiring Conqueror. When we fought against Shackstress, she fought to the bitter end and chose to die. You chose to live and serve us." Seeker explained.
"Right. Many Top Tiers fell at our hands. They all kept fighting to the bitter end."
"This is pointless." Haresha grew impatient and refused to believe the rest.
"Insulting as it may sound, I really think you're not, Haresha." Seeker chuckled.
"A power that uses the Zodiac. I believe you would use the power of the Horoscope. You see, that's where you're different. Garenjazz knew his luck and made his luck. You put your fate in the power of the Horoscope. Conquerors don't do that."
"Right. This is basically the interpretation of what we are told back home. Conquerors are not strong because of their powers. They are strong because they are conquerors. The moment you and I paved a way of power through something we have no control over, we lost." Porrelom laughed.
Haresha was silent. But her thoughts drifted.
"Or... you could become Overcomers." Seeker chuckled.
"In any case... We best brace ourselves. An alliance between us would spark much terror. I'm sure the rest of the Presiders are now plotting. Render is dead, and we are all together. Everyone has witnessed the battle that this randomness has brought. And even now, the Principal must be wary." Seeker frowned.
As Seeker guessed, everyone witnessed the battle and the conclusion that it led to.
Of everyone most horrified by the outcome was Principal Dormin.
"I have to start becoming more proactive in this! This future... is not among my visions!"
